Lilly Post Surgery Squat

That didn’t take long at all. Seems on the road to a solid recovery after a devastating injury:

wow. when was that taken. That is a big squat. He definitely squats differently now. Way to go Brando

The video was uploaded in early October, I thought he’d be back but I never thought he’d come back as quickly as he did. I’m subscribed to him on youtube and he’s been making great progress. He even did a 16" box jump, just having the stones to jump at all after that is insane

I think his comeback is awesome, but I wonder how susceptible his knees are. Really hope he doesn’t bust them up again.

No excuses. Great to see him recover so quickly, and really goes to show that, if you want it bad enough, you can do it. So many people choose to limit themselves by saying they have some sort of injury or condition or syndrome or whatever. Hell, people even try to limit OTHERS, as when Lilly originally injured himself, so many people were saying he was going to be out of the sport for YEARS, assuming he even got back into it at all.

Thanks for posting the video.

That’s awesome. I saw him at beast of the bluegrass in May and it looked like he was walking around on stilts. Having been through a serious knee surgery/rehab, I can’t say I agree with wraps (I think I see them, at least), but he’s a sharp enough dude that he probably can coach himself just fine in this.

Just out of curiosity why would you disagree with using knee wraps?

It’s masking the pain that should be your ally in that situation while simultaneously overloading the weight and decreasing the knee’s role in stabilizing.

When the knee has been damaged that badly, relearning that stabilization should be the focus. Throwing on wraps is counterproductive to that goal since the wraps will assume a lot of that role.

IMO, wraps should only go on once the knee is fully healed and pain free, which is possible for brandon at this state but unlikely.

That makes a lot of sense, I was thinking of it more of a support but it would make sense that it could become a hinderance in his recovery. He also squatted 532x4 a month ago walked out with no wraps so he has been working on that too. I can never believe it when I see him putting up the numbers he does.
