Lil Wayne

The hate in this thread is sickening. Dorrance, all those artist you listed, while lyrically skilled, are boring as hell. Further more, you’re young, how much Wayne have you heard? Carter III? Dude’s been making music for the better part of ten years now.

I’ve lost count how many times this has happened - Someone makes a post about a current rapper they like, then someone says they suck, then says they should listen to REAL rap like Sage Francis or some shit.

If you think Weezy can’t rap, you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. Sure, he screws around on a lot of songs and lately he’s been doing way too many drugs, but when he’s on he’s one of the best in the game.

if I showed you lyrics written by a 4 year old, then showed you little wayne, and 50 cent lyrics, you wouldn’t be able to tell the 3 apart. Having said that, lil wayne isn’t AS horrid as he used to be.

2pac and Biggie are SPINNING IN THEIR GRAVES at the state of rap music today.

I used to absolutely LOVE hip-hop/rap. Now, I can barely stand it.

I guess it comes down to what you grew up with.

I like young jeezy as a mainstream rapper more then lil wayne though. Yet honestly I don’t listen to them a whole lot. It’s hit or miss with lil wayne and just catch my self saying “This is alright” or “WTF?” on some of songs.

lil waynes a freakin’ good businessman though I’ll give him that. He’s getting money. If I was an artist would I put some of the corny club songs he has? NOPE. I’m more into that lyrical shit on a hard beat you know that real motivational want to bump my head to rap. Guys like cormega, pac, crooked i, traged khadafi, blaq poet, gangstarr, ghost face killah, inspectah deck, raekwon, joe budden, killah priest, big l, ,biggie, az, nas, jayz gots jewels to, eminem, scarface(most consistent cat in the game today I think) and many more to list. Guys droppin some knowledge and interesting stories about what they went through, seen and felt. This is what I like.

I know prof x is reciding down in H-town waddup you bang any of that chopped and screwed?

Killah Priest is fuckin underrated killing it on that lyrical style right now

Cormega been gettin that money independently for a while soon to drop a album with some rap legends

Scarface shit I don’t have to say, southern legend

Nas ft. scarface

Kool G Rap and Saigon Letter p who else can do this?!

Do or die ahhh some classics

inspectah deck I think hands down one of the greatest to grace the mic
Jesus who can forget his verse on triumph? one the illest ever

I think being white holds em back. I doubt he’s allowed to really be himself and express himself in the way he grew up listening to rap. He would be condemned if he says certain things that are a staple in the hardcore rap community. Despite all this he’s still had some great songz. I just wish he would ghost write or something.
lol nothing is holding em back. Why? cause he has already shown himself for who he is. He grew up half of his life hangin out with proof and guys who really did know how the streets were. They didn’t say “ah this guys white I don’t think he can hang with us” . He was more or less treated with respect, cause he was another guy who was strugglin to shine and he proved himself lyrically and did his best to help those who remained real with him. rip proof

Look you just got to weed out the good from the bad. No different then 10 years ago. There will always be bullshit out, but there’s always diamonds in the rough.

Em had an Old track that they found from before he even became big, that said something about “black bitch”. Yet a few years ago(well after selling several platinumalbums) he was crucified by Ms. Jones in new york morning radio as well as 2 of other urban stations, to the point he issued an apology. Now true a writer can express himself in other avenues, but hardcore hip hop has always had agressive say what’s on your mind attitude. How can you come off as a person who says whatever the F’ you want when you have to limit what phrases you can use? His lyrics just don’t have the hardcore edge I feel like he wants to spit. When I hear album from him I feel like theres just certain topics he either doesn’t want to touch on, or would rather skate around.

Hmm never heard of this verrry interesting none the less. Yet he was probably at that immature don’t give a fuck age. Probably a huge mistake he realized himself later after growing up a lil more. Then somebody just had to dig it up and rail it on him. Hey he didn’t deny shit atleast.

I rarely hear any rappers say “black bitch”. So eminem set himself up real bad saying shit like that being white LOL.

I record , and have been deep into underground rap for quite sometime. I will say that Lil wayne used to have a sparkle and realism for a popular rapper : that stopped with the carter II.

I will give it to him for selling his ass off to anything that moves to make a buck.

Here are some rappers that would leave him in the dust!!!

anything in EASTOAKLAND, is on another level than LIL WAYNE HERE ARE THREE SONGS FOR YOU> to compare skillz
I’m feeling that first song, goes hard big ups

Go buy/download/rent The Notorious B.I.G.'s “Ready to Die.” I know most of you have probably heard it a numerous amount of times. But listen to it again anyway.

That LP is what I’m talking about. One of the sickest LPs EVER - in any genre of music. Hit after hit, after mothaF-cking HIT.

I remember waking up one day, getting ready for school. I went downstairs to get breakfast, and in keeping my usual habit, cracked open the front page of the Los Angeles Times. Somewhere in the middle of the page, about halfway down, right below where the crease folds the paper in half, I saw/read that the Notorious B.I.G. was murdered. I still remember that day. I remember the picture they featured. I remembered Christopher Wallace. I remember thinking “damn.” I knew rap music had lost one of the greats, over nothing.

If Lil Weezy died, I can’t honestly say I would care whatsoever. I mean BirdMan is better than the guy.

Another quick anecdote: A friend and I were discussing rap the other day, and of course “Ready to Die” came up. This is what he had to say. “Yeah, when I went to Europe for a summer, I could only bring 4 CDs. One of them was ‘Ready to Die.’ BOOM. Done with hip-hop.”

The Mt. Rushmore of Rap:

 1. 2pac
 2. Biggie
 3. Jay-Z
 4. Dr. Dre/Young Snoop

Oh I almost forgot blaq poet. Listen to these songs and tell me he doesn’t murder shit

FIRE:

Notorious B.I.G. - Ten Crack Commandments

[Chuck D] “One two three four five six seven eight nine”

Uhh, it’s the ten crack commandments
What, uhh, uhh

[Chuck D] “One two three four five six seven eight nine”
“TEN”

I been in this game for years, it made me a animal
It’s rules to this shit, I wrote me a manual
A step by step booklet for you to get
your game on track, not your wig pushed back
Rule nombre uno: never let no one know
how much, dough you hold, cause you know
The cheddar breed jealousy 'specially
if that man fucked up, get your ass stuck up
Number two: never let em know your next move
Don’t you know Bad Boys move in silence or violence
Take it from your highness (uh-huh)
I done squeezed mad clips at these cats for they bricks and chips
Number three: never trust no-bo-dy
Your moms’ll set that ass up, properly gassed up
Hoodie to mask up, shit, for that fast buck
she be layin in the bushes to light that ass up
Number four: know you heard this before
Never get high, on your own supply
Number five: never sell no crack where you rest at
I don’t care if they want a ounce, tell em bounce
Number six: that god damn credit, dead it
You think a crackhead payin you back, shit forget it
Seven: this rule is so underrated
Keep your family and business completely seperated
Money and blood don’t mix like two dicks and no bitch
Find yourself in serious shit
Number eight: never keep no weight on you
Them cats that squeeze your guns can hold jobs too
Number nine shoulda been number one to me
If you ain’t gettin bags stay the fuck from police (uh-huh)
If niggaz think you snitchin ain’t tryin listen
They be sittin in your kitchen, waitin to start hittin
Number ten: a strong word called consignment
Strictly for live men, not for freshmen
If you ain’t got the clientele say hell no
Cause they gon want they money rain sleet hail snow
Follow these rules you’ll have mad bread to break up
If not, twenty-four years, on the wake up
Slug hit your temple, watch your frame shake up
Caretaker did your makeup, when you pass
Your girl fucked my man Jake up, heard in three weeks
she sniffed a whole half of cake up
Heard she suck a good dick, and can hook a steak up
Gotta go gotta go, more pasta bake up, word up, uhh
