Lil Power's Training Log

The vid is super. Very awe-inspiring.

This guy kneewraps are the ultimate pain inducer!

back in the gym this…Wed - upper and Thurs - lower, high reps work on exercises I enjoy…some cardio…trying to work on the next goals…next meet? Tossing around the idea of bench only meet in May here in AL to help support Big Rob and hit that 350 I just couldn’t lock out last weekend. Maybe SPF Nats, but most definitely the Women’s Pro Am in Nov in Cali.

Mitchell just wanted to kill my triceps today so I can lock out that 350 next time…lol

highlites of the week:
worked up to 75# DB obliques, had a guy in the gym tell me my waist would get thick doing that…said “so? I’m going to squat 500#s!!!”

Today, another guy in the gym was telling his buddy how strong I was, and I was called stout…hoping that’s a good thing ??

Guys are so funny. Lol over your highlights.

I’m seriously in awe of your strength. Very inspiring.

You are my hero. That was an excellent response.

Stout, to me, means “excellent”. So yeah, I’d take it as a compliment.

Those guys were just feeling threatened and weak.

Just amazing! Wow. I have no exposure to seeing women lift so heavy. It’s truly inspiring.

I’m wondering what your bone density scans would look like. Ha. I’ll bet they are so solid from bearing that kind of weight. It would be fun to see them up next to other women in our age bracket who do not lift.

I looked back in your log for your height. Just curious. How tall are you?

Lil Power indeed. Good grief!

My laptop’s being an ass and I can’t see the vid. Typical.

But the numbers are awesome, you rock my world Shorty.
I mean that as a term of endearment, not height. You’re taller than me, I’m sure :stuck_out_tongue:

I love oblique sidebends, and I hate when guys think that all women care about slim waists. I personally like a thick waist (thick midsection really) and it’s a serious pet peeve when people, especially men, say “stay away from these exercises because they’ll give you a thick waist”. There are a lot of articles from TN contributors that I don’t read due to that one thing.
Anyway, end rant.

Stay cool <3

veggie, thanks - guesst those are not really “highlites” just random encounters during the week…lol

kimba, yes, it really was the only thing I was thinking…500 squat 500 squat, otherwise I probably wouldn’t go that heavy. I’m thinking stout was a compliment, but it also could mean fat and pudgy…eeewwww

powerpuff - as I enter my older (read wiser) years, the dr did ask me what I did for my bones, told her I powerlifted (she actually knew what that was) and said okay, no problems there.

Nikki/Powerpuff - I’m probably the shortest one here…5’0" if by a real narrow margin ! In my meet video, the guy spotting me is about 6’3" and he was complaining to me later how hard it was to spot me, 'cuz he can’t curl 400 lbs ! lol…I think I look like a dwarf when he is standing up behind me…but at least I got him to squat past parallel.

EYEAH!!! !that’s what I’m talking about! :D!!

Wicked, we’re the same height =D

That’s such a rare thing for me to say, don’t get to say that unless I’m talking to 12-year olds.

You mentioned coming to California in November? Where is the big meet? I may get to see you in your singlet and everything.

I just realized that you didn’t start power lifting until four years ago. Whooohooo!

haha so glad you made some work for your spotter! i have no idea what the slingshot is about except it sounds kinda fun.

Super late, but I just want to say congrats on the meet!

You did awesome and you’re amazing!! The vids were fantastic.

Does a slingshot simulate a shirt? There’s a guy in the Over 35s who is loving his slingshot. Trying the figure out the benefit of it.

not nearly the support of a shirt, but does allow to overload and work the lockout (where it isn’t as much support)
Some call it future training…what you will be pressing in the future…I got about 25 lbs out of it. Also to help protect the shoulders some. ;-)))

Some use it for more reps, some for a bit more weight. I could see it being useful for handling heavier weights and to condition your tendons and CNS also.

I have video, I’ll see if I can get it posted later today.

short video of me using the slingshot for the 1st time…did triples up to 225, then 2 singles at 245, which is about 25# over my raw 1RM, here is the 2nd set of 245, almost got it for two…

back to working w/Shelby on getting down to the 148’s w/o sacrificing strength…so have some low intensity fasted cardio thrown in 5 days a week for now…yee hawww…
