Best snow I ever remember was in, I think, '96. I was in upstate New York, with my brother (he was in Navy nuke school), in my only excursion into yankee territory…to that point. They had already had at least a foot of snow. We decided to go walking around that night (in Ballston Spa…small town). It was about 10:00 PM. There was absolutely no wind (perfectly still) and huge snowflakes were falling. Not heavy, but steady. They drifted down like leaves in the Fall. Absolutely beautiful! And the town was small enough that it had pretty much shut down. Quiet, still, dark, except for these huge snowflakes drifting down in the light from the streetlights, riding on the scent of wood smoke.
Had I not been in enemy territory, I would have though I had stepped into a part of Heaven…lol.
That was really well written, I had the whole thing pictured in my head and for just a second it sounded nice. Effing snow!
PG - we will check into that. Of course, she hates deads anyway, even though she is good at them. She LOVES squats, and they don’t bother her back.
C_K - If I lived in Canada, I might hate snow as well. Having frown up in south GA, though (until I was about to turn 12), I only saw snow twice. Once when we went to TN for vacation. The other time, it actually snowed in south GA. It snowed about 1/32", and it was so novel that they let us out of school.
Cav - that is very interesting. I wonder if it is fear of fire, pollution or if it is because it is cheaper to build them without.
Dday - I still love the snow. I just hate having to go to work when it snows. The driving is unpleasant. The main reason, though, is that my inner child can’t properly play.
If I didn’t have to go anywhere when it snowed I wouldn’t care so much about the snow. Sold my 4x4 a few years back and have a car now. We’ve had more snow since I sold it than we had all the years prior combined. My boss is working it out to where we can work from home more just in time for winter. I’ll be taking full advantage.

I have been vying for that as well. Nothing will come of it, though, while we still have our current director. His management styles is a few decades outdated.
As a network person, 99.8% of my job can be done remotely. In fact, that is EXACTLY what I do everyday at work…work on things remotely, from my desk. He is one of those, though, that thinks you are not working if you are not at a desk in the office and close enough to where he can drop by and drive you with his presence.

^Had a few of those guys myself. Generally I like coming to work and hanging with my coworkers, they’re all pretty cool.
I am the same way. I have a great group of co-workers. It would be nice to be able to work from home, though, instead of being forced to take PTO, when the weather makes it unwise to make the journey.
Funny thing is, they will force us to take PTO, if we can’t make it in, but won’t hesitate to call us if we are needed…and still not pay us for the day. So, last major storm, those of us who couldn’t make it in just turned off our phones, pagers, etc…

Thanks Joe, Cav. We are still around. Hoping to have a quick burn down session this afternoon.
Finally getting cooler here! 38 this morning. Ah…this is God’s weather. Well, okay, it’s all God’s weather. I just happen to prefer this aspect of it.
It’s that time of year. Had to turn the fire place on this morning, it was 33 when I woke up. Seems like it wasn’t that long ago we were talking about how hot it was, soon I’ll be complaining about how cold it is.
Cold weather is something I have never complained about. I love it cold. And I love fires (fireplace or campfire, not like arson)…lol.
Same here. I always say I can dress for the cold, but sweating like gerbil in a gay pet shop sucks!!!

Traps were feeling really tired and tight, from the very beginning. Left shoulder got tweaky. Oh well. I got a great burn…lots of tightness…had a hard time lifting my arms. Life was good.

My wife told me she had a headache yestersday too. Weird.
Skip, what’s the status of your shoulder and back? You not heavy lifting for awhile?
Steve, I am not sure that I will ever squat or dead heavy again. It is to nice not being in constant discomfort, if not pain.
In the next week or so I will start pressing again, though. Time to make out of it what I can.
I think I will go for the Mr. Incredible look…lol.
That blows. I wonder if sled dragging would hurt the back. You can build some great legs with just the sled drag.
