Skip, what’s the status of your shoulder and back? You not heavy lifting for awhile?
Steve, I am not sure that I will ever squat or dead heavy again. It is to nice not being in constant discomfort, if not pain.

In the next week or so I will start pressing again, though. Time to make out of it what I can.

I think I will go for the Mr. Incredible look…lol.
That blows. I wonder if sled dragging would hurt the back. You can build some great legs with just the sled drag.
Such is life.

I think I could likely get away with doing things that pull back on my upper body. If I had something around my waist/gut and was pulling it (facing forward and going away from it…like the strongman pull events), I think I would be fine. It is anything that pulls/sheers my upper body forward on my lower body that gets it…deads, squats, heavy shrugs, bent over rows. even seated rows.

Screw you guys and your shitty cold weather. It should never be below 85 in the afternoon.

Lifting looks good strick, just do what you can and get all jacked.
Joe, when you’ve got as much…uh…insulation as I do, you cherish colder weather.

I am just having fun with it. I have been really distracted by life (not bad) lately. Going in there and spending 25-40 minutes just burning everything down is fun, feels good and seems to actually be paying off. I actually have a small shelf where my rear delts were supposed to have always been.
Still no damned biceps, though.

Feel the Burnnn!!!

Strick- Sorry about the back woes, glad to see you working around it!

It’s been burning, Matty. But that won’t hit any PRs. Time to start testing the shoulder again.

OG, such is life. Things are what they are. We do what we can and work around the rest. No big deal…until Mrs. Strick can out squat me…lol.

280# is tenuous at best…especially with the holidays here. I’ll just have Jennifer roll me into the weight room.

You know you’ve squatted right when you have trouble walking afterwards.

I was starting to wonder where you ran off too, glad to see you posting again. Hope all is well.

Things are fine. Hectic as hell, but fine. I’ve been fighting sinus issues for a week…thank you Mr. 5 year old.

Workouts have been boring. Lots of DB curls, concentration curls, tricep pushdowns, OH cable tricep ext., DB laterals (1 and 2 arm), reverse flyes, face pulls, seated rows, lat pulls, machine flyes, blah, blah, blah…

Did MP for the 1st time in 2 months, yesterday. Only went up to 205# and my shoulder nagged then and is nagging now. Rest is not the answer. Oh well…

Ok, this is the last time I am dragging your ass off of page 2…you are too damn big and heavy for me to do this!! Hope your shoulder is doing better and if we don’t see a return of the Strick Clan…Happy Holidays!

Big and heavy is correct, OG. The holidays have been good to me, so to speak. On the plus side, the type of workouts I have been doing have really helped balloon my shoulders. Almost looks weird, since I have no biceps to balance the arm to shoulder ratio.

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a, albeit early (I will be out of town)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! Always nice to see an update that training is going well. Even if you’re looking freaky…

X2…Stop being such a stranger!!!

Yeah, yeah, I know. Since I am not really lifting for strength, it just seems weird to post about it. Compounding that fact is that it just isn’t much fun. I mean, the pumps/burns feel good, but I constantly find myself frustrated that I have to workout. Not because of the effort, but because there are other things that I want to use my time doing. Training for strength is so much more fun.

That being said, I still haven’t missed a workout. They have broken into a “strange” rotation, though. I am still going Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. But I am repeating 2 workouts…twice one week and once the next.

They look like…

Workout #1
1-Arm bent over cable rows - 4-5 sets of 7-12 reps
Lat Pulls (wide neutral…to front) - 4-6 sets of 8-12 reps
Seated Rows (wide neutral) - 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps

Usually throw in 2-3 sets of DB curls or close grip seated rows to finish.

Workout #2
Superset 1
DB Laterals - 5-7 sets of 7-12 reps
Tricep Pushdowns - 5-6 sets of 7-12 reps

Superset 2
Face Pulls - 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
1-Arm tricep pushdowns - 3-4 sets of 6-10 reps

Sometimes I will throw in cable front raises, but front raises have started to aggravate my shoulder.

I tried OH pressing again, a few weeks back. By the 2nd set, my left shoulder was tweaking again. I think, after the holidays, that I will get bench back into the mix. I need to move something more substantial. The added shoulder size has been nice, though.

No leg work. My back is hosed. No more pushing it. Maybe, one day, I will find a cheap leg press.

Strick -

glad you checked in over the holidays.

I have a hard time - doing andy training that isnt ‘training’

however joint health and time sometimes say otherwise
find the pleasure in your new swoleness

have a great holiday
