Lifting with the Stricks

Just being able to unrack 285 is awesome!

Not far off 300 now.

Have you thought about trying push pressing the 300, just to get used to handling it?

I like that thought push press the 300 for awhile and it will seem light stay strict on the other stuff when you can push press 325 I beat youll puch 300 strict

Thanks Brett, Damutt. Actually, I have considered some push press. Funny thing is, i seem to have lost the ability. When I was in HS, we did push press instead of MP, and I was very good at it. I lost the groove, though. Chalk it up to being old.

Of course, maybe if I practiced with less than 285#, I could get it back  I’ll try some lighter ones on Sunday.

Looking strong Skip. MP 270x1 is (as my son would say) beast. Mrs S I hope your back heals up soon. Mrs S you ever try sumo or semi-sumo deadlifts? I pull semi-sumo and it seems to be a lot easier on my low back. More leg and hip involvement.

Steve, I don’t remember if she has tried sumo or not. But she is uber flexible, even in the hips. I ask. If she hasn’t, it is definitely worth a try.

Can the Big Man come out and play? …hope you and the true power behind Team Strick are well…but send up a flare every once in while!

I know. I know. I suck. One day I will remember how to post.

MrsS is still out of action. I would have insisted that she go to the Dr., but every time it starts getting better she does something…uh…less than intelligent. Like picking our sleeping 80# boy up off the floor. No way to do that, with a bad back, and have it end well.

I’m giving her hell and one more week for it to get to healing. If not, she is off to the Dr.

I have gotten my work in…

Sunday

Military
upto 265x1

Shrugs
to 405x12x2

Laterals and rear delt raises

Tuesday

Rack Pulls - bottom pin
upto 425x4

Today

Lat Pulls
to 220x10

CGB - pinkies 1/4" inside the rings
hit a PR
360x1 - PR +10#…+35# over the last 3 weeks This is only 10# off my regular bench max

Seated Rows - wide neutral
220x12x3

And now we’re caught up!

One day, I will get back to posting regularly, and harassing all of you on your logs!

Ah ha, hiding Pr’s on us are you?..1000 lashes for a job well done… Best to Mrs Strick, she was making such fantastic progress, hopefully she can come back soon.

Damn nice PR Strick. Hope the Mrs gets to feeling better.

So did Mrs. Strick hurt her back on the DLs?

Congrats on the PR!

Thats a big CGB PR dude, congrats.

Thanks all. Yes, MrsS needs to get better. She is getting really frustrated with not lifting. But she HAS to stop doing things to aggravate it. But, alas, I am her husband, not owner. I can’t MAKE her be careful.

Snap - it was on deads. The weight was getting heavier and she decided to snatch it a bit, for the momentum. That “jerk” helped to round her lower back, not to mention the torque, and that was that. I bet she doesn’t do that again.

The CGB has been a nice surprise. I am so close to maxing the same as my regular flat bench. Maybe I have had my grip to wide all this time. I have been using the same grip as on my MPs, to, hopefully, maximize carry over. Maybe it is time to play with it a tad and see if I can find an optimal, narrower grip for bench!? Even if it does result in a long bench stroke. Not to mention, the CGB does not stress my shoulders like the wider grip.

We shall see.

MrsS’ back has been doing better, for the past few days. So, she is going to do a light, upper body workout…just to test the waters. Wish us luck!

That’s huge! Nice work!

Thanks Steely. I am starting to think that I will hit 405# on CGB before regular grip. If that happens, my MP grip will become my new bench grip.

MrsS got the work in. We really wtched it and she had no issues.

DB Bench
30x8
35x5x3
35x8

Tricep Pushdowns
31x10
43x10
55x5
55x8

1-Arm Pushdowns
15x10x2
15x8x2 - palm up

Seated Rows - close neutral
43x10
67x10
91x10x3

Lat Pulls
91x8x4

I had her start low on everything and add weight until she a) hit a good working weight or b) started feeling her back strain. She did a great job. I know she wants to squat, but I am encouraging her to hold off another week. Maybe do some bodyweight squats first.

Me - Shoulders

Military Press - left shoulder was being a bitch. Sharp pain when nearing lockout. Just strung together some singles
barx25
95x10
135xx5
175x5
205x3
225x2
250x1x5

BB Shrugs
225x20
315x15
405x12
465x10x2

1-Arm DB Laterals
50x10
60x10
65x10

Reverse Flyes
40x10
50x9
50x8

DB Laterals
40x15 - rest pause

And on we go. I am just glad that MrsS managed to get in a workout without it ending in pain.

nice work as always

Thanks, bulldog. I gotta figure something out. My MPs are pretty stagnant.

Well, come to think of it, CGB aside, all of my lifts are stagnant.

If your CGBP is only 10 lbs off your max bench, sounds like you’re more of a natural narrow bencher.

That’s some seriously heavy shrugging.

Nice work Strick.

Superman: “Yeah, I can push an ocean liner overhead, but that’s all I could do for the past several years. Boy, my lifts are getting stagnant.”
