Lifting with the Stricks

Well, 5 of the 6 are gone. The 6th is homesick and wants to leave, but can’t.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much entertainment that I can provide a 21 year old college girl. At least not that would leave my marriage intact :slight_smile:
So, I told her to figure what she wants to do and I will try to find a place where she can do it. Also, as a backup, I bought a fifth of tequila and margarita mix. Maybe she can drown her whines. If nothing else, it would be entertaining…muahahahaha.

MrsS is going to take today off. She is still not feeling great and I still think that her iron is low, as the blood test, a couple of months back, showed. The surgery she had makes it difficult to absorb certain things. This must be one of them. She is on a supp, but I think we need more red meat and high iron veggies on the menu.

In any case, she has grown frustrated with her apparent loss of strength. So we are going back to heavier weights and lower reps.

For my part, I am going to do something (not sure of the load) this evening. Then I am decompressing from this week’s chaos. Vacation starts tomorrow and I am off for 10 days. Now, if a homesick sister-in-law doesn’t make me miserable, for the next 4 days, life will be good.

I think the tequila is an excellent idea. Me, I find it makes the work day pass by faster.

Sorry to hear the Mrs. S is feeling tired and weak. I can commiserate with iron issues. That’s the kind of thing that sneaks up on you too.

I’m not convinced it’s iron issues. I think I’m just being a wuss. But since iron issues sound better we’ll go with that :slight_smile:

Of course, I haven’t eaten real food in days, with all the chaos. I apparently suck at taking care of myself, so I’m not expecting much in the weight room tonight. And I am not sure there’s such a thing as “light” deads. But I’ll try.

OG, you are more than welcome to visit! Be warned, though, it is hot. Only 1 day, since early June, that we have been under 100 degrees for a high.

I can commiserate about the family

we have a weekend house, and its like they smell each other
what starts as a weekend visit for one sister, suddenly
13 members of my family descend and eat us out of house and home.

problem is that we love to host but do need our downtime.

Sorry, I have been on vacation, this week, and haven’t been logging anything

MrsS is doing better. She tried to workout with me, Sunday, going very light, but it was a bad idea. Even doing exercises that avoided direct work still stressed it. She did not workout Tuesday and I am not letting her workout today. Muscle relaxers are helping. She really need to give it until Sunday before she tries again, though.

***interesting thing here. On my last set, I pulled the slack out of the bar, to start the lift, and realized that the weight was off the floor.

No lunges. My right quad is still bothering me, but wasn’t bothered by the pulls.
