Good to see you guys around. I understand about being busy and the important thing is that you’re still training. Yeah, lunges suck.

OK! I’m ashamed of myself! But I had to top the last picture I posted.Besides I’m sure the wife would enjoy you in that outfit. See, I’m just trying to help you in the marriage department ![]()

Marital help? That is so kind…lol. I think the only way that would help at home is that she would burn off all of life’s stress by laughing until she passed out. Then she would tell me to burn it and never do that again.

Thanks, James. I think I will stick with the lunges. They hurt so good.
Just so you know that we are still around…

These damned lunges are killing me. They hurt like hell, while doing them, and I am sore for 3 days afterwards. Why have I not been doing these?!
Welcome back Strick. I think you answered your own question about the lunges, they suck.
Lunges are your friend!! You know, that sometimes annoying, abnoxious friend, but somehow you still hang out with him occassionally…yeah that friend!! Lunges and bulgarian split squats are my friends!!

You just try and convince yourself that they are. In reality, they’re the toxic friend that talks about you behind your back and undermines everything you do. They’re not my friend. Blech!
Thanks all.
The lunges just hurt in such a great way. I can feel it right down the middle of my quads and the center of my glutes. Hell, the day after, if I flex my rear, it cramps. Good stuff!
Also, I am reviewing the deadlift article on the main page. I might give it a whirl.
Stopping in for a few…
Decided to try the program that Andy Bolton’s article put forth. Main issue I had with it was that he didn’t give percentages, on the main lift, for the 1st 5 weeks. So, I made it up.
Sunday
MP - worked to 205#, but my shoulder tweaked. So I stopped them.

Ass and quads are really sore and tight. Thank you Mr. Lunge. I hate this exercise! So I will keep it.
MrsS is still working the sets of 8. We are pushing the weight enough that she can’t get the 8, on the last set. She is doing well. Even with all the chaos of life.
Good to see you and the Mrs are still at it.
Slacking on posting aren’t you?
dday, there isn’t any chance of us stopping. We are just busy as heck. But we make sure to get the work in. I know that MrsS will disagree, but that doesn’t count, since she can’t really see the areas. Her upper back and delts are starting to take some form. When she is using them, it is very evident, to me.
Bulldog, I am slacking like hell. And I apologize. I love this place and do keep up on the logs, when I have a few minutes of idle time. I just spend that time reading instead of typing.
Just goes to show that you can never tell. I have been dinking around with my workouts for weeks.
MP - working to heavy-ish sets of 5, but I have been feeling weak on MP.
Bench - CGB (pinky 1/4" inside the rings) - sets of 8, 7, 6 and 5 reps, as the weight goes up
Deads - heavy singles and triples and now onto Bolton’s program
On Sunday, I tweaked my shoulder, and stopped the MP’s. Since MrsS and I are having to move Sunday’s workout to Saturday, I decided to just do some heavy singles on CGB, today. Couldn’t have seen it coming but I got a huge PR out of it.
I had to start the workout with lat pulls, though, since MrsS needed the rack for squats.

340x1 - PR +15# - effort, but no struggle
350x1 - PR +25# - This felt heavier, but went up easier than the 340#
Called the workout there, due to time. I had wanted to get seated rows in.
MrsS was feeling like ass. To her credit, though, she got in there and got her ME done.

Kevin, it’s big for me. A 25# PR on anything, though, is something for me to get amped about. I have been in a rut.
I have mentioned it before, but it is worth mentioning again. The grip I am using on CGB is the same exact width as the grip I use for Military Press. I am try to help up my MP via bench. So far, it hasn’t seemed to work. My CGB has gone yp, obviously, but I feel weak, and the numbers show it, when I military. Maybe there is a long-term bump?
Hey Big Man Congrats on the CGB PR…a 25# bump to 350 is great stuff…maybe your MP’s are helping your CGB!!!
Thanks OG. It was a pleasant surprise.
I suppose that I will be happy, if the MP is helping my CGB. But I would much prefer it the other way around.
Congrats on the CGB PR
Thanks, Joe.
Well…they have arrived. The population of my house has risen from 5 to 13. It will be at 12 until Net Thursday. Wish me luck and pray for my survival.
