Yeah, but she got aggravated with me, yesterday. She said I was coaching too much and kept nagging about her needing to get her “grrr” up. Consequently, she got agitated with me, and her “grrr” went up. Eh…whatever it takes.[/quote]
Brat. I knew you were annoying me on purpose. It’s a good thing you’re cute.

I suck with numbers and actually tend to do better if I don’t know how much is on the bar. Just goes to show how much of it is mental.

I know a number of women who train and compete like this. Their training partners/handlers set all their numbers. Often they walk onto the platform with no clue as to what they’re lifting. That wouldn’t work for me. I’m the opposite.

It’d kill Skip. He’s a control freak. But I am much more likely to psych myself out and fail the lift if I know how heavy it is. I’m better about that than I was when I first started, but overall, it’s still easier on me not to know.
Sunday workout - (Skip says I have to start posting my own workouts. I think he’s just being lazy.)
Squats day. We (meaning not me) decided that I should max today, since the last time I maxed on squats was April 2nd, and I’ve maxed on all the other lifts recently.
Squats
barx8
75x3
100x3
120x2
135x1
150x1 PR + 15lbs
160x0x2 - Almost fell on my face. Thank goodness for husbands to catch you!
135x5 PR + 4 reps
Leg Extensions
35x10
45x10x3
Goblet Squats
35x10x3
My legs were nice and tired by the end. Still wish I’d gotten the 160, but it just wasn’t going. Oh well, next time. Well, no, not NEXT time, because I want to go back to the 5x5 next time, but you know what I mean
Your progress, Mrs. S, is nothing short of amazing. For as short a time as you’ve been lifting, you’re already squatting more than BW. Wow. I’d say you have some serious natural affinity for this sport.
Shoulders day. Another day of lifting because I lift. I really need to snap out of this. As it went, though, it was just as well.
Military Press
barx20
95x10
135x5 - Bailed at this point. Left shoulder was hurting and I just wasn’t in the mood to deal with it.
1-arm Laterals
30x12
40x10
50x10
60x10x2 - these were somewhat ballistic, but controlled
1-arm Rear Delt Raises
30x12
40x10
50x10
60x10x2 - not as “ballistic” as the laterals
Shrugs
225x20
315x13 - grip slipped
315x15x3
Supersets
DB laterals and DB OH Presses
Laterals
40x10x2
DB OH Presses
40x10x2
MrsS did awesome! #15 PR and a +4 Rep PR. She should have had the 160#. She started up and let herself get too far forward. I had to grab her and the bar to keep her from going over. Had the weight stayed back, I believe she would have powered through it.
Peaks and valleys bro, the ho hum session actually turned out to be an impressive volume day…I get the same way when I feel bored, or just didnt feel like I did enough and it ends up I do did too much.
Skip, you’re not alone. I don’t feel like working out most of the time. I force myself then get into it half way through the workout. Maybe you need to change things up.
Thanks Matty, Joe. Yeah, getting the workout done is not a problem. I am a creature of habit. Getting INTO the workout, that is not always easy. I was happy with the volume, though. And my traps and rear delts are a bit sore today. So I did something right.
Steve, I think you are spot on. I am sick of my shoulder hurting and sick of my arms looking disproportionately small, compared to the rest of me. I think I am going to migrate a bit towards muscle gain, while trying to hold where I am on the strength front. A little more mass (LBM) couldn’t hurt.

Thank you! I can’t believe how much fun I am having with it.
