Lifting with the Stricks

Rug - I am rebuilding it as I type this (yes, I am on another computer).

Dude - you say “hardcore”. The wife says “stupid”. I’m not sure there is much of a difference. Of course, she was in there lifting with me until the sirens went off. Someone had to stay with the kids, in the shelter, while I was being a dumbass.

Brett - 100 pounds of body weight? This Friday? Good deal. We are ALMOST to middle age.

Soldog - I don’t know if she will ever post again. But I am working on it.

I checked MrsS’ current maxes against the “Strength Standards” on exrx.net. She falls in the 148# weight class, though she is under 140#. This is how she stacks up, worst to best.

Exercise - Level - Current Max - # for next level

Squats - Novice - 135# - 141# for Intermediate (she can do this, but hasn’t maxed in a good while.
OH Press - Intermediate - 80# - 94# for Advanced (this will be the slowest)
Bench - Intermediate - 115# - 135# for Advanced (again, this will be slow)
Deadlift - Intermediate - 241# for Advanced (she can do this, but needs a max day to have the energy)

So, after 3 1/2 months of lifting, she is, for all practical purposes, Intermediate in Bench, MP and Squats and Advanced in Deadlift. Not bad.

My goal for her (shhhh…don’t tell her) is to hit advanced in all 4 by years end.
+14# on MP
+20# on bench
+50# on squats (given her last tested max)
+6# on Deads

We shall see.

FTR I think Skip is insane with his goals for me, but I’m already lifting more than I thought I could, so I’m not going to discount anything. My only real goal with all of this was to get a butt. Which still hasn’t happened, dammit. But I like feeling stronger, so I’m having fun anyway.

Trust me…those goals are very achievable. The deads are a done deal. You just need a max day, without doing 5x5 first.

As for the butt…remember…If you do deads and squats, the butt will come. I’ve already noticed a difference.

PG, it is good stuff. I haven’t felt like lifting for the past couple of weeks. Just been doing it because that is what I do. The highlight of the workouts has been watching MrsS hit milestone after milestone.

He does that anyway. I’ve heard alllllll about the T-Vixens thread for much longer than he’s been pestering me to post here. :slight_smile:

And yes, spelunking does sound much more vulgar, especially in conjunction with asses. Guess I’ll not complain about being accused of skulking.

Thank you! I try, but he just picks me up and tosses me. There are definite disadvantages to being a midget. Which is why the lifting. I’ll never be as strong as he is, but I just might get strong enough to knock him down if I sneak up on him :slight_smile:

Bulldog - whoa now. Don’t encourage her! I might be bigger and stronger, but she is 7 years younger. I won’t be able to defend myself before she loses the ability to attack.

She will ambush me, every now and again. Unfortunately, for her, she just doesn’t have enough body mass to keep the upper hand.
