Lifting with the Stricks

Tornado Workout

I don’t remember what we did on Sunday, except that Mrs. Strick hit a PR on MP.
80x1 - PR +5#

I just dinked around and did a few sets of triples. Shoulders aren’t feeling it.

Time constrained, high stress, shelter hopping, Tuesday workout…

Mrs. Strick

Squats
barx8
80x5
115x5x5 - PR +4 sets…might be a rep PR, but not certain

considering all that was going on, I am thrilled with this! She is doing great!
BTW - she is doing the 4 day rotation, with a 3 workout/week schedule.

My paltry workout

Deads
135x8
225x5
315x5
335x5 - last set before going to shelter
355x5 - set done while everyone else was in the shelter
335x5 - start of post shelter sets

Box Squats - to 18" bench
135x5
225x5x3

Just thought I would add in some light squats and stop my descent before the butt wink happens, to keep the back locked and hope that will allow me to do some sort of squats.

Glad you and the family are OK.

PS: Deadlifting in a tornado gets you a lifetime membership into the Hardcore club.

Thanks, ddot. I don’t know if I was being hardcore or a dumbass. I REALLY hate it, though, when something interferes with my workout.
That is MY time, even if I am sharing it with Mrs. Strick.

Deads during tornado warnings? Definitely too hard core to be en-Rapture’d.

Good to see you guys made it through unscathed. It’s the Luck of the Over 35 Forum!

You were being hardcore, no question.

I read my wife the bit about you going back in to deadlift, she shook her head and said “you are all the same!!”. I think our wives despair, but do understand we can’t help it.

Glad you are all OK.

Deadlifts during a tornado, and you’re not sure if you’re hardcore???

Pulling during a tornado

trumps me pulling during a fire alarms with firemen.

nice way to get it done

glad you and the fam are safe.

NOT MY HOUSE

Thanks all. We made it through unscathed. There was one that showed up about a mile SW of us, heading straight into our neighborhood, but it never reached the ground. We do have a storm shelter, and I ushered everyone into it twice, about 20 minutes apart.

Everyone did great. The kids knew what they needed to do and what they needed to take, in case we did get hit and got stuck in the shelter. I was the bad one, as I hate staying in the shelter and not knowing what is going on.
I think we ended up with 3 tornadoes within 5 miles of us.

One of my co-workers took pretty much a direct hit, from a small one. It lifted the roof off the house, and part of the house off the ground, then set them both back down. They have a pic of a cereal box that was caught between the roof/ceiling and a wall, when it was set back down. Pic of the house included.

I got in trouble with the wife :frowning: As tornadoes are nothing new, here, we were going about business as normal. We just kept the news on, in case something happened. The kids had just eaten and Mrs. Strick and I started working out. Then the sirens started. This was the 1st time I got everyone in the shelter. There was a tornado on the ground, but the exact location wasn’t clear.

The sirens were going off and I decided to play it safe and get everyone to a safe place. After a minute, the wind calmed a bit and the rain lessened, so I told Mrs. Strick that I was going to go back inside and see what they were saying on the news. (The storm shelter is about 20’ from the back door.)
I checked the news and it looked like there was a vortex several miles away, heading in our general direction, but whatever had set off the sirens had dissipated.

So, I took that opportunity to get in another set of deads, before my muscles cooled off. Well, Mrs. Strick caught me! She was not pleased. Not really angry, angry, but a little annoyed. She got over it.

WHAT THE HELL!!! Samething just happen here to me tonight.

What do you get the guy who has everything for his 42nd birthday? I was thinking something along these lines… But since she never answered my call, I guess he’ll have to be content with finally badgering me into an account here

Happy Birthday Love!

Welcome Mrs. Strick. I do believe that is the first boob-and-butt picture Strick has ever had in his log…

Happy Birthday dude, only 42? You’re still a kid.

42? You’re a baby.

Happy birthday.

And welcome, Mrs. S! Looking forward to following your already amazing progress.

Happy Birthday Strick.

Belated Happy Birthday Big Man

Hmmmm…I had no idea that she made an account until I logged in, just now. Sneaky thing. I am afraid it might be her only post ever, though. Baby steps…baby steps.

Thank you all for the b-day wishes. Yep, I made it to 42. Hopefully I have at least that many more.

Sorry for the absence, it has been a crazy weekend. Had Friday off, the weekend, and am off today. Lots of mowing, weedeating, trimming, clipping, weeding, watering, fence building (who knew dogs liked gardens), slip-n-sliding, movie watching, LotRo-ing and eating very poorly. Off to the park, this morning, more LotRo-ing and the last bit of trimming. To be finished off with a cookout. I need to get back to work for a vacation.

Highlights from Sunday…

Mrs. Strick (I guess MrsS, now) added 5# to her bench 1RM. 115x1

Had she not done the 5x5, I would bet my life she would have pulled 250#. She looked good.

135x5
225x5
250x2 - PR +15# to the most weight she has ever lifted in any manner

30x10x3

Combo - Bent Over Rear Delt Raises, Laterals, OH DB Presses
30x8x2

Combo - Laterals and OH DB Presses
30x10x2

done…

Funny thing after my MP set at 205#. MrsS said, “Good set!” To which I replied, “It’s only 205#”. At which time she reminded me that 205# is what she was straining with on deads. Nothing like putting your foot in your mouth

Now, to check out the pic that MrsS posted…lol.

Note: Laptop has a virus. Slowing my posting down. As an IT guy, I will fix it by trying to surgically remove it. Failing that, I will go the powerlifting route and blow the HDD away and rebuild it. So, no worries, I will be catching up on logs soon.

Awesome stuff Strick, doing my millies today, Those super sets are killers, espescially the OH, laterals and rear raises

HAPPY BDAY BRO!

Happy belated birthday, Strick! Gosh, 42 . . . your whole life’s ahead of you.

Loved MrsS’ post. And the weights she’s lifting . . . good gravy, she’s a mutant freak. She’s already lifting enough to do well in a PL meet.

That’s how I do it. If I can’t remove it, I format it!!! It’s a good thing we back our shit up, right? Right?

Happy Birthday Hardcore. Thats the best thing I heard about the tornados this week.

Happy Birth Day
