any one else here find they training harder and getting stronger since they have turned 40?
im 42 powerlifter drug free, been doing it two years and find my training going strength to strength, been training since i was 27 just bodybuilding stuff to keep fit and put some size on,also im a builder, been doing that since i was 17
you bet . but I sat my ass on a barstool for 25 years prior to starting to lift at about 43 . that first two and a half decades got my bench up to about 135 pounds . since I actually started lifting it’s gone up quite a bit more . so yeah , my lifts have really taken off while in my 40’s…haha .
(Im poking fun at myself there)
but seriously , I cant compare lifting/progress to my younger years , as Im quite the late starter . I’ve seen your vids though. nice job . you got some good strength . you look like you’re going to go far if you stick with it .
exactly how much of a difference is there between the 40’s and 20’s or 30’s for yourself ?
by the way , I chatted with an older gent just this afternoon . he took up PLing in his seventies ; still at it at 82 . holy shit …right ?
a lot depends on when youstart. and how beat up you are when you begin. I started in my teens, but took plenty of time off to party and chase tail in my twenties, back at it again in thrities, and still making gains.

maybe thats the thing that I got on my side …my joints are in pretty good shape yet . I had a couple major imbalances when I started though . like when I was benching around 150 or so my left arm/shoulder was way weaker than my right . it probably looked funny as hell with my right arm locked out and my left struggling the last 3 or 4 inches…haha. I bet it took 2 years to get that worked out .
