Lifting Shoe Review

Has anyone tried the Crossfit lifter Plus? I’ve seen them on Rogue for $175 and they look decent, but for that price I figure I might as well go with the Romaleos or Adipower.[/quote]

I tried them on in the store, they fit quite narrow and have a cheap feel to them. the leather quality does not compare to the adipower or the romaleos. I have a pair of Ramoleos I purchased true to size. I’m a 49 euro and I purchased a 49 Euro… I wear the comp insoles all the time to keep my arches up.

The lifter plus comes in some fantastic colors, but the fit and quality is just not there, not for 200 dubloons

usmc I have the Reebok Crossfit lifters(the first version with one strap)not the plus, and I love em.They have a softer top side on the toe but a very solid base.I went from the cheap adidas powerlift to these so that could be the reason but for me they work and feel great.

Awesome, thanks!

Thank you too Jbott1988.

I have some 25 dollar vans I deadlift in and squat in. They seem to be doing just fine. I also have some balling indoor soccer shoes, I use those for arm’s day.

i have the adidas power perfect 2 and they are great i love them.

I have it narrowed down to the Do-Wins or the Nikes. I am going to have to get something. My current shoes are getting very squishy, I am assuming from the frequent squatting even though the weight isn’t very high. I could feel them giving yesterday pretty badly.

My wife got these for me for my birthday. Guess I’m going with the Romaleos 2!

She’s a keeper^

Definitely!

I’m gonna try squatting in them today. There’s an extra set of inserts, I’m not sure what for though. It sounds like, from what I’ve read, one is softer than the other so conceivably the harder inserts is for competition. Not sure though?

Thought I’d throw in my opinion. I’ve used a pair of Adidas Power Perfect II for the last two and a half years. Still rock solid, and they’ve had plenty of use. I wouldn’t recommend them highly enough to be honest. There’s very little give, the angle is perfect for bottom snatch positions and the only thing that I’ve found better are the old Ironworks I used to use. Now and again I’ve seen some old stock of these for sale, and if you ever get the opportunity to get them, jump at it. But anyway, PPII are awesome shoes.

Awesome, would love to see a review after you try them out.

I gave them a shot last night. It wasn’t a full workout, but I was itching to try them.

Preliminary review:

Pros:

Stability: I felt like I was glued to the ground. My feet didn’t move once placed and my heels didn’t come up at all. Will that be the case on heavier work (only worked up to 220x3) I’m not sure?

Fit/Feel: They fit well. They are a 10.5 and I normally wear a 10. They are a little bit to long so they run pretty true to size. They are also surprising comfortable as well and they can get very tight around the foot, which I like.

Cons:

Straps: The only bad thing I have to say at this point is the top strap is long. If you want to cinch it down tight it will drag on the floor. Minor annoyance. The bottom strap is fine, maybe even a little short.

Pro & Con:

Weight: Obviously the weight of the show is a good thing for some lifts (Oly, squats, etc…). but they are cumbersome. I’ll probably change shoes for anything that requires movement (lunges for example). I like to do DS Bar carries, definitely will have to change shoes.

I forgot to comment in the strap! Mine is unnecessarily long as well, but my old man is a cobbler and was able to cut, stitch and burn the ends, and reapply a cap so it looks flawless.

Any cobbler is tack store who does leather work should be able to do it for you for under 10 bucks. If you have a decent sewing machine you can do it yourself but the typical machines and too Lilly and the needles break.

In health

Ha.

Can’t say enough good things about the Adipowers. Love them for Squats, OHP, and Deficit DL’s. Benched in them for awhile when trying the flat-footed approach, was pretty good.

For DL’s and Bench Press (I Bench on my toes) I’ve liked Nike Frees and Indoor soccer shoes, both without the soles inside. Both were flexible enough for benching and low enough to the ground I felt ok DL’ing. Biggest issue for me is using shoes that have grip and won’t slide.

If you have a wide foot, go with the Nikes.

If you have a narrow foot, go for the Adidas.

I have the nikes (red, bitchn’ colour in the gym plus it means they go faster than the other colours, right?) and have a wide foot. They are very comfortable. No, they are not “walk around” shoes as there is zero flex from about half way back in the shoe and not much forward of that.

They are a squat/oly lifting shoe. Not for crossfit wieners. If you are a raw powerlifter, they are the bomb. Makes getting into the hole just a bit easier, so no Dave Hoff squats any more. Superb for front squats as well. I also use them for bench pressing as I have long legs (189cm height) so they help with flat foot leg drive (IPF comp, not pussy capo or must-have-a-vag WABDL).

If you are an equipped lifter, they are pretty much useless. But then, you are using a rubber band to compete so wodafuq you worried about shoes for. Stick to chucks or wresting shoes.

Yes, I agree that the upper strap is way too long. Scissors will fix it. Or take it to a shoe repair place to get a neat job done. Other than that, a great shoe. If you get the red ones, you will have to beat the girls off with a barbell.

It’s really perplexing. Why the fuck did they add a strap that is longer than the shoe when you pull it tight? Did someone just forget to give it that extra tug and make it tight? It’s hard to believe that such a well designed shoe has such a stupid oversight.

Fuck the reds – white sneaker red swoosh 4 life bro.

+2 on the nike romaleos in red. Haven’t had to beat the ladies away but that’s probably because I’m ugly. but at least I have sweet shoes.
