Lifting in a Rams Head

Scotto - This is very interesting, and very apropos in my situation, I appreciate you telling me about this, and may incorporate this into my sessions.

Thanks brother I appreciate it. You are probably right, I always thought of deads as an exercise that I do not like going high rep in as I tend to hurt myself when form starts to go. usually 2-5 reps is it, however in a situation like this pulling heavier weight may exasberate the current situation so it is definitely something to consider. At the very least it will keep my groove greased and add more conditioning.
I’m thinking like 40%ish x 8 or there abouts. So, like sets of 225 x 8. Hopefully that wouldn’t aggravate your injury and would allow you to keep the groove greased, as you said. It probably won’t feel like much for you, but it’s a good opportunity to work on form, like getting your legs more involved or something.
This is what CT plan is like, moving up very slowly…with low percentages. Albeit CTs is low rep High sets.

You are most welcome kind sir, your verbiage is pleasantly tripping from you tongue and i am sure you will be getting the better of extremely heavy items in the near future

Sooo taking the advice of Scotto and Wiex I am going to do CTs DL plan. I did it today and enjoyed it (well as much as you could enjoy it lol)

Today was decent and went like so.

Squat x4 @8 RPE - worked up to 340 x4 dropped to 315 x4
DL - %60 of 1RM (540 = 325) - 325x10x2 in 6:34 (CT said 3 minutes is a good time, looks like I got some work to do) Since the weight is light I will go hook grip until I cant.
Bench! - 135x3x15 SS with Face Pulls 95x4x20
Lever Rows - 2plt x 20 3plt x 10,12 4plt x 7 3plt x 10
Curls and Band Push downs

Today was a day of optimism…

LOL!

Nice deads. I think I’ll try for a 3 minute set of 60% for 10 sets of 2 on my next DE day.

10 doubles at 60% in 3 minutes sounds a lot like cardio to me!

I respect you usage of the word enjoy!

Good to see you are keeping yourself unstoppable. I “enjoy” hook grip too.

Thanks bro, I wish I could use the hook grip all the time, it seems more comfortable, but anything past 4 plates I cant do.

I can’t seem to grasp the hook grip. I tried using it few times over the last two weeks. Unless the point of it is to expose the level of wussiness I poses… Glad to see the lifting is going well, man!

It hurts everyone when you start and takes a couple months of pain before it becomes normal (it seemed like forever, I was a teenager). In a previous life it is all I used, I was made to learn it for pcleans, and when I learned the proper oly’s my coach was all impressed I could use it to start, as no one ever does. I’ve never deadlifted any other way, but I never pulled over 500#. If I get into plifting once my heart’s in the right place I’ll have to learn mixed grip. I’ll be whining about having to rotate my forearms and how it hurts.

Seriously it is a little uncomfortable, but in an odd way it also feels more natural…at times the mixed grip starts to fuck with me.

Todayski…

Squat - x2 @9 (NDS) -275, 315, 325, 335, 365 x2 @9 ( these were the work sets I guess)
Snatch Grip High Pulls - 90, 135, 185, 205, 225 x3 (SS with DB Lateral Raises
Flys - 9 sets x 15-20
1 arm Tbars - 25x20 50x20 75x10 (SS with fat man rows 3x12)
CT Dead Program - 60% 1 RM - 325x13x2 7:40 sec…hook grip again.
Tri Extension machine - just look away

Holy shit deads at the end were pretty tough had no real energy for the row machine

Solid!

You guys got me reading CT’s stuff, then tracking through the forum trying to understand what “layers” are, and I lost half a day of work!

You hear any good news from the neurologist?

The good news is that it is non surgical, the bad news is it is actually 3 herniation’s. I am going to a pain management doc tomorrow, truth be told Im not in “pain” but I am really hindered.

I did the 3 minutes of deadlift craziness tonight but I did from pins about mid shin. I loved it and will continue to move towards the floor as a progression. Nice work wearing yourself out and it’s good to see you don’t need surgery and can deal with it.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of it but you may want to find a sports therapist with a marc pro to treat the muscles around the herniations. Physical therapist have these devices but usually it will be a specialist. I’m not sure but the technology using the marc pro seem to be a breakthrough in recovery and healing damaged muscles which pull bones out of place and cause injury. Just a suggestion but you might want to look it up. I think it’s revolutionary and most every professional sports team, many olympians, and a great deal of bikers etc. swear by the efficacy and treatment using the marc pro.

I looked at this online GV, it reminds me of one of those stims I get at the chiro…I have been curious about getting one from home but 650 is expensive. I am going to a new pain management / rehab guy he has bunch of shit that looks all complicated I am hoping one of these things work.

So the past 2 days went like so…

Thursday…

a real -10 day…I tried to go heavy with deads, because I went full retard. worked up to 455x2, which felt brutal, went for 495 and it was stapled to the floor. Ah to think not too long ago I could hit 5 wheels for 3-4 reps…very disappointed, confidence has taken a hit…I am a gentle flower. I fucked around for the rest of the session/

Friday.

Squats against light bands -x3 worked up to 315x3, 335x1, 225x10, 135x10
OH Press - 95x3x15 (g h e y)
Flys - a lot
DB Cleans - 30x20 45x15 50x15
DB Shrugs - 85x20 100x20 120x15

Ill keep chuggin, I keep on waiting for my strength to magically re-appear, I think this will be a long road.

I thought CT was a scan, but it doesn’t sound like it. I am not sure what is going on in here, but I find the confusion kind of scary.

Whatever it is, keep at it…lol. You look friggin’ huge in your avatar!

On another note…
You have 3 herniated discs and you are able to do squats and deads? Either you have a great pain tolerance or I need to google “herniated disc”. Since it is late, I’ll just assume the former and forego the latter.

Rock on!

In between the other stuff I found these which are very good.
And it’s a road that never ends. You won’t be satisfied when you recover, then you’ll want to make up for lost time. But that’s a good thing.

Broheim, you’re still hitting numbers that I dream of. You’re doing just, fine.
