Lifting in a Rams Head

Thanks Rick! I hesitate to say it is sciatica, usually say its sciatica type pain. I will try this tennis ball thing, tonight actually, hopefully I dont mess up and have the ball logged in my asshole!

I have heard bad things from cortisone, which is why I havent had a shot in at least 5 or 6 years when I was dealing with Plantar Fascitus. Its just so close to meet time, and I have been progressing I would hate to be taken off track by this.

Matty just tell your wife you slipped on the tennis ball in the shower…lol

I hope this works for you as it usually does for my clients and myself.

My wife would exclaim that it’s karmatic payback for all of the unexpected drunken “misses” over the years lol.

That’s an interesting concept with the tennis ball roller. I’ll have to try that out too.

Matty, really nice work on those deads man!

Good work Matty. Definitely start with the tennis ball. I’m only able to tolerate the baseball roll for about 20 seconds which isn’t really enough to get the job done.

If it hurts real bad look up piriformis stretches and treatments in more detail–youtube works just fine. It is part of the 6-rotator muscles for your legs. After rolling a couple of times before and after any spinal loading you should start to feel better.

This is much easier to treat than an actual lower back issue.

BTW the progression is Tennis ball-Baseball-lacrosse ball-golf ball. If you can tolerate the Lacrosse ball your pretty good.

Last thing tight hip flexors really jack up your piriformis so do your stretches and foam rolls there as well.

The lacrosse ball is so good for the piriformis and feet, and shoulders, and hands, and hamstrings. I love my LAX ball.

No doubt Rick, I just finished, Ill keep with the tennis ball, and will graduate to the Lax ball.

GV…Im gonna buy one tomorrow…

As I am getting older my prehab routine is becoming more and more important…I know no shit Captain Obvious lol!

Week 18 day 3

Comp Bench x2 @9 RPE 6% Fatigue

Worked up to 325x2 @9.5 dropped to 315x2 and just felt like doing some paused reps at 225 just because so 225x10 comp pause.

Pin Squat x4 @9 RPE 6% Fatigue

Worked up to 315x4 @9 and dropped to 300x4

I really am very aprehensive (i.e. a big pussy with these) but they worked out weltol and can see there value.

DB Bench x7 @9 RPE

Did 2 sets of 125x7, the last set was a 9 RPE and dropped to 105x7

Way too much verbal diarrhea today, had some buddies at the gym and could not keep my yapper shut.

Other stuffs

Chins - 0x12, 25x7, 45x4, 0x10, 25x7 (41) I know I said I wouldnt do these until after the meet, the 45lbs aggravated the forearms, but other than that I was Ok.

Some banded flys, Meadows Rows, DB rear flys, Incline Tri Ext

Oh and I did some Z presses, these are cool worked up to 205x2

I’ve been using a golf ball for my feet… for what it’s worth. its too small to really use anywhere other than that, but it works.

RTS Week 18 Day 4

DL x4 @9RPE 6% Fatigue

Worked up to 455x4 dropped to 425x4 - Oddly enough going into the meet this is the lift I have the least confidence in as of late…it has had a lot of peaks and valleys

2 Bd Bench Light Touch x2 @9PRE 6% Fatigue

Worked up to 330x2, then dropped to 320x2, 315x2

Pendlay Rows x5 @9RPE 6% Fatigue

Worked up to 255x5 then 250x5, 245x5 and 240x5

Face Pulls - 95x2x15 120x2x10

Thats all folks…

Meet Week…next

Solid work! Good luck with the meet. What are you hoping for? Besides 9 whites of course.

Yep a Big Shot. I think you are there on both the squats and deads and all of the extra bench work should pay off on meet day. Now go nail it!

Yep!

You already have it now in your training so why fret over it?
