I bought a pair of lifting hooks from dicks, there like straps but hooks. THey were the only ones they had so I said why not. Then I used them and they suck. I still end up having to hold the weight in my bare hand and my grip fails. Did I get a bad pair or is this how all lifting hooks are. Should I go buy straps?
Get straps.
Get straps…I have seen some guys at my gym who had them and they ended up bending if they used too much weight.
Stick with straps. If you get a quality pair of them, then that’s all you really need.
I was given a pair of lifting hooks called the “1-Ton Hooks” (those of you who have read Power Factor Training might have heard of them)…they really do work quite well.
I don’t use them all that often - weighted lat stretches and barbell shrugs are just about it. My grip gets destroyed really easy from deadlifts and weighted chin-ups (not liked “fatigued”, destroyed as in “skin-ripping, painful to open doors the next day” pain…I can’t even do lateral raises after some heavy deads), so I find that they are great for almost completely taking my hands out of the picture and giving them enough time to recover after doing certain exercises.
They’re pretty good for certain exercises where you don’t want to be limited by what you can hold…though they are somewhat expensive (and purple/black, so they look dumb).

Ha ha…while I don’t have those specific hooks, the one pair of hooks that I still have is left over from my Power Factor Training days. I needed them for the partial shrugs and deads. Funny thing is when I’d use them, my forearms would get incredibly sore the next day.

My ass was pretty sore after shelling out money for PFT.
Sisco and Little…what a couple of douchebags.
