Lewis v Klitschko - Dday Patricia

It just seemed like lewis should have trained better, He looked like he didnt know how to fight a man that tall, he was cheap by rubbing his face into vitali’s cut, and he kept locking up. He’s a cheap fighter. Even one time they locked up and he kept throwing the kidney shots. I don’t like athletes who act the way he does. Post fight he was talking like he won that match by far and he is the best thing since sliced bread. In reality we all know that if the fight continued, he may not of won.

emckee - I agree. I think Klitschko should have gone after Lewis more aggressively after he got the cut. He was easily outboxing him, but it looked like he was taking his time. I doubt he’ll get another shot at an unprepared Lewis.

I think the Klitschkos should move to the states, get a real trainer, forsake that awful European style and learn how to really fight. Then, we’d see some badass champs. Those guys are monsters.

My point was that if even though he was behind, if he won the 6th Lewis must have at least still been in the fight. It’s impossible to say that Vitali was going to win a decision when there was still half the fight left.

If Vitali had not been cut, he would have put Lewis away.

That cut was affecting his vision (no to mention it probably hurt like hell), and let Lewis back in to the fight.

For those still knocking Wladimir, Lewis also got stopped by Oliver Mc Call. Thats twice (three if you count this fight) he has been stopped by a “nobody”.

Again, this kind of thing happens in the fight game, and how a fighter handles future fights is what makes champion.

Lewis keeps making the same mistake, which is why I am not impressed by him.

Good point and a lot better reason than Lewis is a pussy. I do see your point though.

Just so you know, the Klitshko’s do live in the U.S. They live and train in Los Angeles.

Nasty cut, but K. wasn’t taking any severe punishment, so I don’t see where the doc could say he couldn’t see punches coming. The fight may have needed to be stopped because of the cut in the later rounds, but it should not have been stopped when it was.

Lewis is a jerk because of the smack he talks. He should have admitted he wasn’t prepared and that V.K. was a worthy opponent. That I would have respected, but to act like what we all saw wasn’t really the truth is b.s.

I can’t add much to what Ko said.

Except that during rounds two and three, I was on the phone. The conversation sounded like this:
Me: Well, we might not…DAMN! Klitchko just threw a…wow…Lewis is shooken up…uh, might not be going to San Diego this…OH MY GOD…Klitchko is bizzzzeeeee…uh, depends on where we’re at with cash…YIKES!..god damn…Lewis is lookin’ sloooow…"

So, by the end of the third round I just gave the phone to Ko.

Klitchko definitely showed his heart and yes, that he did not have a glass jaw. I seriously doubt if there’s going to be a rematch.

Well, the fight turned out to be a terrible disaster for boxing fans. Lewis needs to retire, he’s wasting a good belt. The dude takes forever to fight. He looks like crap when he does, and talks to freakin much.

I love boxing and would much rather see someone who is willing to fight and defend a belt than someone who sits on it. Vitali needs and deserves a rematch.

Greek, how can you say that Roy is crazy for wanting Lewis. Roy is perhaps and arguably the best fighter ever, forget the pound for pound, he can take on Lewis. He’s way to quick and very smooth. Smooth meaning he can really get out of a mess. Noway will Lewis ever be in shape to surround Roy and put pain on him, he’ll swing and swing and fatigue quickly from missing. He might get one or two good ones but no way will Lewis ever hit Roy on the “sweet spot.”

I agree with Ko on Corrie Sanders, he’s a chump who got lucky. Wladimir just lost it, no more legs and one knockout with stars can leave anyone hesitating.

Get ready though, Acelino Freitas “Po-Po” is fighting in August, perhaps the best fighter to WATCH right now. He’s an incredible little dude, my favorite. The Mayorga and Forrest rematch should be something else too. Forrest is actually doing a four month camp for it, nomore 6 weeker’s. Good for him, it’s about time boxers spend more time preparing.

Da Boxer

I agree that K still could see the punches coming from his left. In his interviews, you could still see his eye, bright and clear. It was just a nasty cut on a nasty place. I’ve had cuts there before, and they take forever to fully heal.

Lewis won’t fight K again - he knows he would’ve lost this fight if it hadn’t been stopped. He’s too much of a pussy to admit that he was fat, out of shape, and unprepared. If K would’ve landed 1-2 more good shots, Lewis would’ve been down.

I saw the press conference on ESPN2 after the fight, and Lewis is such a BITCH!! He said he knows he would’ve knocked him out in the next few rounds, that he was getting his 2nd wind, that he hit K with 2 uppercuts so he was coming back. Bullshit. The entire camp guaranteed a knockout before 5 rounds, and guess what, after 6 all 3 judges had it 58-56 Klitchko. Then, Chris Byrd was at the press conference and he was making an ass out of himself, but he showed some balls and challenged Lewis, but Lewis ducked again. BITCH.

K’s defense seemed lackluster. He kept his right hand down too far during the entire fight. It was always down by his waist, and that’s why that soft right from Lewis cut him.

Kidney shots are legal - if both boxers are tied up, then the ref has to break. If one can still punch, then no break.

Did you guys know the Klitchko boys both have Ph.D.'s in Exercise Science and they speak 4 languages fluently? WTF!! Get the fuck out of boxing and use your head for something other than a punching bag.

One thing that truly pissed me off about the fight was that there was like 10 body punches thrown the entire fight. That just angers me. Both were exhausted, throw some body punches and make the other guy more tired

Roy Jones Jr. should not take on Lewis. No matter how good he is, he’d give up 50 lbs and 8 inches. Lewis will just be a pussy, boring ass fighter and keep his left hand extended in a feign jab motion to keep JJ away, just like he did for Tua and Rahman (rematch) and Tyson. Lewis is not a dumb fighter, he knows how to win - but damn he’s fucking boring when he does it. Top 5 heavyweights ever - No fucking way. There are 5 HW’s from the 60’s and 70’s that were way better than him and you know what, they took on all comers and challenged each other.

Just my 48 cents worth…

J

Good call JW.

I tell you folks something, the best sign as to the sad state of affairs in the heavyweight division is the fact that this fight was NOT PPV.

And another thing: HBO sucks for not televising the women bouts - which seemed alot more exciting than the main event.

JW - I honestly think Roy can handle Lewis. Yes lewis is huge compared, he’s smart, but so is Roy. It’s an instinct that only he has which will carry him to victory. Roy is just that damn good. I can picture Lewis’s slow ass craddling from so many unseen shots from Roy.

I agree about Lewis not being a top 5.

Da Boxer

JW - they said these guys know 4 languagues fluently, but if English is one of them, I’ve gotta give Vitali only 3.5. Just kidding, I would love that fluency in a second language.

Patricia - you are so right about the undercard in general. I was extremely pissed that I didn’t get to see the fights. Here lately, if there is a heavyweight main event and they show the undercards, the unders are so much freakin better, although watching Michael Grant get drilled under the Ward v. Gatti 3 fight was kinda cool.

So who’s ready for Mayorga v Forrest 2, with an undercard of Zab Juda v DeMarcus Corley? I know I am ready for a brawl.

JW,

that’s gonna be a great event. Do you think Demarcus Corley stands a chance against Zab? Zab is to darn quick for anyone in his class.

Man, I really like Mayorga’s character, he’s funnier than _ _ _ _! Check out Maxboxing.com for some of his live and video interviews.

Da boxer

Boxa-man - I do think Corley stands a chance. Juda hasn’t had some great fights lately, plus Corley has almost as quick of hands. They’re both extremely quick and agile, but I’m picking Juda because when I first saw him, I thought “Holy shit, fastest hands I’ve ever seen”. Granted, I’m only 21, but still, he’s quick.

Patricia, the only reason this fight was not PPV was because of the last minute change of opponent. Lewis and K were supposed to fight on PPV in December. HBO already had the time slot set aside for Lewis vs. Johnson. I totally agree about the undercard though. I have heard great things about Lucia Riker, but I’ve never seen her fight.

  1. Don’t underestimate “Chop Chop Corley” until you see him fight. I had the pleasure of witnessing it first hand at the undercard of Judah vs. Tszyu (go figure)

Now Chop Chop take on Judah. I’ll be honest, Zab doesn’t impress me too much anymore. He doesn’t take fighters seriously, and he likes to showboat. Kostya knocked the shit out of him, and he hasn’t been in a fight since. Almost what…2 years?

  1. About te Roy Jones issue. Let’s not foget Roy was originally a middleweight!! There has to be some diminishing returns here people! Taking a punch from a middleweight, supermiddleweight, and a even a lightheavy is entirely different than taking a HW punch. We won’t even count Ruiz because he wasn’t even a real beltholder, but if Roy was ever hit with a good HW puch I think he would be seriously hurt.

Hell, why do you think there are weight classes to begin with? Just because somebody is fast doesn’t mean they can take a punch. hence, the reason most HWs have a puncher’s chance.

You’re only as good as your competition…Ali had Frazier, Sugar Ray had Duran and Hagler, etc. etc.and I think Roy needs to be challenged… he just doesn’t fight decent boxers at all. Let’s not also forget the fact that Roy is ducking Bernard Hopkins (who beat the shit out of Trinidad) and Darius Michelcheski. When Hopkins lost to Roy the first time he barely beat him…and it was a decision. Bernard has since moved up and dominated the middleweights and supermiddleweights. He destroyed, let me repeat DESTROYED Felix Trinidad…sending him into retirement actually, and everybody picked Trinidad to win.

Shit if Roy wants some challenges tell him to fight Hopkins, then Michelcheski, or hell even Trinidad (whos talking about coming back). Fuck the heavyweights.

Besides Lewis needs to fight both Klitchskos, and Byrd so he would be too busy with that.

Who wants to see Lewis vs. Jones? That would really make boxing a joke. They both have far better opponents in the ones listed above.

In my opinion, Roy should fight Hopkins next…this would be a superfight! And Lewis should fight Vitali again…if he wins, fight the other one, then Byrd, then retire.

oh yea,

Boxer Al,

as a “boxer” I’m wondering why you wouldn’t want to see Hopkins vs. Jones as well. This seems to be the only real fight Roy has out there.

And yes, Acelino Freitas is one of my favorite fighters as well. (maybe its those Brazilian girls he enters the ring with) He is the shit to watch. He damn near knocks out anybody he goes up against. But he needs to fight “somebody”

ok her’s my list of fights I would like to see, everybody include there’s as well

Freitas vs. Mayweather
Mayweather vs. Mosley
Hopkins vs. Jones
Mayweather vs. Tszyu
DeLaHoya vs. Hopkins
Mayorga vs. Tszyu

BTW Kostya and Sharmba Mitchell are scheduled this summer as well. If it wasn’t for the lower weight classes boxing would be shit. I’m also looking forward to Mosley vs. DeLaHoya 2. They both need each other.

I’m really starting to become a Kostya fan. He ducks nobody.
