So, I’ve been a bit bummed lately, not working out, not wanting to work out. Last night, while talking to IH I came to the sudden realization that I hate the Schuler/Cosgrove program. High reps, total body, is not for me. When I think of doing 15 rep squats, even with just the bar, I think “Ugh…don’t wanna.”
10 reps is all I can think of handling, right now. I decided that I like the 3 day split IH has set up for me. After talking it over, we’ve decided to go back to the teaching phase, where I learn some new stuff and then work with that for awhile. I’m taking one more day off and then starting tomorrow.
That’s actually great that you’re doing something IH has set up. He knows you, and how you ‘roll’ in the gym, so I’m sure the split he puts together will be 1000% better, and more tailored to you. Plus, all the high rep compound stuff is boring, heavier weights, lower reps FTW!
Incline BB Presses: 10 x bar, 6 x bar, 10 x bar, 6 x 55. These felt good. I like them.
DL: 8 x 65, 5 x 75, 5 x 75. So weak. I hate it. 95 seems so long ago…
Seated Rows: 10 x 40, 10 x 60, 10 x 60.
Felt so good today. Very glad I’m back to this. IH will, of course, be writing me an official program, but it’s nice to get back to what I was doing and still learning new things. I definitely felt some of my beginner enthusiasm again.
MiM, no, we went to Olive Garden. They have this awesome steak medallion gorgonzola alfredo with spinach and balsamic glaze drizzled on it. And I had a chocolate martini for dessert!
Ink, yeah, I’m just glad to be excited about working out again.
Squat Day!
Squats: 5 x Bar, 5 x 65, 5 x 95, 5 x 95.
Step Ups: 2 sets of 10 (per leg) x bar. These killed me like lunges. Maybe I will alternate them with lunges.
Lying Leg Curls: 10 x 50, 6 x 65, 6 x 65.
Cable Crunches: 15 x 40, 15 x 50.
I wasn’t concerned about weight or anything today. Just getting back in the groove before I concentrate on going up in weight.
Good stuff Greenie! And knowing what you want and how you plan to get there is all that matters!
You just do whatever it is that makes you happy and keeps you motivated. Looks like we’re going to have another PLer on the boards - keep up the great work!!
First day of IH’s new program. This was fun. I felt weak, but in a good way. I did stuff I hadn’t done in awhiile so I knew I’d lost some strength but I know that I will get it back.
Incline Bench: 6 x bar, 6 x 55, 6 x 55, 6 x 65.
Flat Bench: 8 x bar, 6 x 55, 5 x 65, 5 x 65. The bar felt SO light! It was awesome. The 65s were blech, but I know in a couple weeks they will feel awesome.
DB Curls: 4 sets of 8 x 12.5
Cable Crunches: 15 x 40, 3 sets of 15 x 50.
Treadmill: 10 mins at 3.3mph and 1.5% incline. My butt hurt after this.
That’s great Greeny, awesome with the bar feeling so light on the bench. In no time you’ll have the ‘feel’ of it all set and you’ll be pushing some good weight.
Thanks, Kimba. It’s great to be enthusiastic again!
DL: 5 x 65, 5 x 75, 5 x 75, 4 x 85.
Wide-Grip Pulldowns: 6 x 60, 8 x 80, 8 x 80, 3 x 90.
Seated Rows: 10 x 50, 10 x 50, 8 x 60, 8 x 60.
Seated OHP: 6 x bar, 6 x 55, 5 x 55 (failed on 6).
Tried cable laterals. Apparently my arm refuses to stay slightly bent and my wrist refuses to stay straight. Guess I will have to do them with DBs. Though, IH might have me do facepulls instead. He still has to finish writing my program, which I hope he will do today. Yesterday he had work issues so he actually had to do work. Hopefully today will be less busy and he can concentrate on what’s important: me!
