mmmmm good soreness. I live for it. What height were the pegs for your rackpulls?[/quote]

The pins were on the lowest possible position, so about knee height? Right at the bottom of the kneecap, I think.

ok cool just wonderin -= lovin the new avi hungry. very fetching.

Great to hear you have made it to the “real” gym with your awesome honey/trainer! You will make great strides once you two design a regular program and you are able to consistently hit the gym. sigh So happy for you!

So after a rest day yesterday, did some arms today at home with the tiger. Only did curls with his curl bar. 3 sets of 10 at 15-20 lbs (the plates were each 7.5 lbs, so the bar made it somewhere btwn 15-20). Going to take a short nap then do some bodyweight stuff. After that is laundry and hopefully some unpacking/cleaning.

We really really have to get his couch out of the living room this weekend. And buy a tension rod and some drapes for the bedroom, waking up when the sun comes up is not fun. IH used to have blinds but they broke. Drapes are much easier.

Deb, it is seriously so much fun. I can’t wait to learn new stuff. I get stared at a lot but I’m getting used to it. Whenever I use a machine the pin is at like…100+ lbs and then I move it to like…40, lol! You can always tell where I’ve been.

I have noticed that the weights here seem lighter than they did at my work gym. I could barely do lat pulldowns at 50lbs and here it’s 60 lbs. It’s probably because the machines are better calibrated and the weights are more accurate. It definitely makes me feel stronger, where the weights at work used to make me feel weak.

I do have that lifting book for women, “Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess”, and am almost to the workout sections. Unfortunately, very little in their meal plans looks yummy to me. I hate fish and eggs and a whole bunch of other stuff they list. So far only the shakes, the protein bars, oeatmeal protein pancakes, cheesecake, and the steak dinner look good. I am a very narrow-minded eater. It is nice that they give mainstream alternatives like a Slim-Fast shake or something from the Atkins Diet food line. I don’t know yet if I will follow their workout plans exactly or not. But there’s tons of stuff to do so we’ll see.

Awesome! I’m telling ya, that book worked wonders for me, and you’re lucky you have someone who can show you the ropes - so you’re going to do great!

I also didn’t follow everything in the book to a T. In fact, I didn’t even bother with their food suggestions. In the end, if you want to loose weight (or burn fat as I say), you need less calories in than out. Simple as that. And the best way to do that is to stay away from high calorie foods like sweets and fried stuff, you know, the yummy things

I don’t follow the food part of the book either. I eat very simply: Br: 3 eggs scrambled, Mid-morning: yogurt with a scoop of Super Foods and a handful of walnuts, Lunch: big bowl of mixed greens and spinach topped with turkey breast and cheese, mid afternoon: fruit, dinner: mixed greens with taco meat, cheese, salsa and a bit of sour cream. On the weekends I allow myself a meal with some carbs. I also watch my portions. I haven’t eaten fast food in 9 months. I eat dessert about once every 2 weeks – just one “thing.” I only eat whole foods, nothing out of a box. I eat the same way every week and it’s worked well for me. Bottom line, you take your particular food likes and custom fit it to a healthy way of eating.

Training today:

Learned how to properly squat! My hips are super tight though so I’m like…a few inches above parallel. I definitely need to stretch out my hips. I think my ballet training will come in handy for that. Doing second position grande plies I did after the first set of 5 really helped stretch me out. I think I will need to do some of those every day whether squatting or not.

Stretching, scapular pushups.

Squats: 5 x bar, 10 x bar. This felt very heavy for me b/c at my old work gym we had fixed barbells and I only used the 20 or 30 lb ones.

Leg Extensions: 3 sets, 10 x 40.

Widegrip Lat Pulldowns: 3 sets, 10 x 60.

Leg Curls: 3 sets, 10 x 40.

EDIT: Amber came out from under the dresser yesterday! We are very excited. Her and Gracie seem to like each other…they play fight/fight play. Very relieved things are going better.

yay for training and kitties getting along! :stuck_out_tongue:

someone said kitties?

SOO GLAD YOU STARTED DOING RACK PULLS. THEY’RE OH SO GOOOODDDD MMMMM.
My right shoulder rolls forward so I know where you’re coming from.
However, when I get back and can see a chiro regularly, that will be fixed.
Also, I would DIE without Fish and EGGS right now while dieting.
I hope you like chicken! haha

Squatting the bar correctly is the first step to greatness. Way to go!

Thank you, ladies, for all the encouragement! It’s been fun so far and I can’t wait for more.

I benched today and actually put weight on the bar. IH says I did pretty good and my form looks great.

Bench: 5 x bar, 5 x bar, 3 x 65, 2.5 x 65 (I lost concentration and couldn’t push the bar up, IH said it could have and I said it could not have, whatever), 5 x 50.

Widegrip Lat Pulldowns: 2 sets 10 x 60. I want to do these everyday, I love them so much.

Incline DB Presses: 3 sets 10 x 12.5. These are new to me and I sort of like them. DBs are so hard to control because they’re individual. They are good for making me feel weak and humble after benching.

Cable Crunches: 2 sets 10 x 30. These are cool. You kneel on the floor with the rope attachment thing to the multi-station and crunch down. Holding on to the rope lets you use the weights so it’s sort of like an ab machine but not.

I also did some squat/plie stretches, scapular pushups, fire hydrants.

Great work Greenie! And I’m glad you’re enjoying the training. That is an awesome bench number! I better up my game

Yay for kitties getting along. Mine just “tolerate” each other.

Today was a very short training day as we got started super late. It was supposed to be squat day but I wussed out because there were a lot of people (read: guys) there.

Stretching

Leg Press: 3 sets 10 x machine.

Leg Extensions: 10 x 40, 5 x 55, 5 x 55, 5 x 55.

Widegrip Lat Pulldowns: 10 x 60, 5 x 70, 6 x 70 (oops), 5 x 70.

Leg Curls: 10 x 40, 5 x 50, 5 x 50, 5 x 50.

There was a guy there who reminded me of Beans. He was doing barbell shrugs with 3 plates and before each set he would do a little dance. I think he failed at 4 plates.

I hope you keep this new found excitement for training alive and that it just keeps growing!

So how does a Tiger REALLY eat? And are things falling into place in that area for you?

So there is a guy dancing between sets and yet you wussed out on squats due to too many people there?? Really? If I were there, I’d be laughing and pointing at that guy, but cheering you on.

Lots of red meat and cottage cheese and tv dinners. I have a feeling it my stay that way until we get a place with a bigger kitchen. There is literally no room to prepare anything!

Things are going good. He’s always super hot so the a/c is always on (except now b/c he’s not here) and he was sleeping in the living room while I was in the bedroom because there’s no air in the bedroom and no drapes. The bedroom is full of my stuff so we had to do some moving around so he could set a fan on the floor so that he’s cool enough to sleep. I’ll be excited when we get his couch gone and my stuff completely unpacked.

Aw, thanx! Well, I’m pretty self-conscious and with all of those big muscaly men, I felt SUPER self-conscious. I won’t wuss out next time.

Those guys don’t give a crap what you’re doing, as long as you’re not getting in their way.

Also, i’ll try to refrain from telling you how great your tits look while you are benching:)
