Let's Try This: Grneyes' s Log

cave in to the peer pressure, greenie.

CAVE!!

The first few months are probably the hardest.

These days I get pissy if I’m not moving iron lol so after awhile you’ll crave that exertion too and will be making heads spin

Well, thanx for all the “peer pressure”! LOL Definitely the “right” kind of peer pressure.

So I trained yesterday, for the first time in a week (I hadn’t realized it had been a full week). I definitely can’t continue training three days then taking a week off after working my legs. :frowning:

I have noticed that I have no muscle soreness, delayed or otherwise, after working my upper body, just my legs. This tells me my legs are my super super super weak point. I’ve talked to IH about it and we’ve decided to lower my reps and sets on that day.

I can’t believe my legs are so weak. I used to dance, ffs!!! Of course I sit all day, which probably explains it. Anyway, on with the training!

Friday’s Training:

Static stretching, mobility work including leg swings, arm circles, Nick Tumminello’s squat mobility exercise, and fire hydrants. **I have a question: Are fire hydrants different than a hip abduction exercise? (Not the machine, the standing version)

All exercises listed reps x weight.

Bench: 4 sets of 10 x 30.

Machine Flys: 4 sets of 8 x 40.

OHP: 3 sets of 8 x 20.

DB Lat Raises: 3 sets of 12 x 6.

Ending with planks held as long as possible, which is about 15-20 seconds and 1 mile on the treadmill at 3.3mph at 1.5% incline.

Our barbells are so short…can barely put my arms at a proper width. One month until a real gym, thank God.

I think you are feeling it in your legs so much because they are the biggest muscle groups in the body…and you use your legs for everyday things, (duh) so you notice it more? And because you are just starting, and maybe Hungry is right and you did too much too soon!

But I think your still going to feel a degree of soreness no matter what…but keep moving! And keep that exercise habit…cause as you’ve seen yourself, 1 missed day easily turns into 2, and then what’s another day?

As you get stronger, the soreness will be less pronounced and youâ??ll also get used to training when sore.

True.

Too much volume + inconsistent workouts + improper nutrition = No progress

I’m trying very hard not to be rigid with her right now. Greeny’s getting there a little slowly. But, compared to where she was when we first started talking, she’s made some really good progress.

The woman was about as much of a beginner as i’ve ever seen. Her diet especially, was atrocious. The logs that you and the ladies here, are not only inspiring to Grneyes, but myself, also.

We both appreciate the advice given from everybody who’s posted here. Thank you.

Once Greens gets here and gets a little situated, we’re going to bring up the intensity up a little more in both the workouts and eating habits.

Hey Greens - I always push myself to step into the gym but like others I’ll sometimes keep it short and sweet or do something totally different and fun. It takes months to build a habit. We’re all proof that eventually the promise of the high (getting that PR ect…) is enough to motivate you back in there.
keep at it
cheers

just checkin’ in…nuttin’ to add…good stuff goin’ on!

MiM: IH is right. I am SUCH a newb! My diet still sux and with my schedule changing every week, it’s hard to be consistent, but I do try and work out every day I work. I know that I could be seeing a lot more progress but this is actually good for me. I’ve always gone full out on something and then BAM! Stop a couple weeks later. The fact that I’ve kept this up and keep trying is an improvement.

So, I scared IH with this pic today. It’s a coworker’s and my dinners. My portion was the hamburger and chocolate pudding.

Yeah… My exact words were, “Are you fucking kidding me??” “Tell me that’s your lunch and a coworkers!!” “Please”.

Then I got something to eat.

^^ I could totally house that in one sitting - on the plus side, at least there’s a piece of corn in there…

This is completely off topic but I have to vent.

I gave my official final notice last night at work and everyone was like “so, you’re really leaving? it’s really real?” WTF? OF COURSE I’M REALLY LEAVING AND IT’S REALLY REAL. There is a man 900 miles away who loves me and wants to live with me forever and ever (boy, do I have him fooled! Muahahahahaha). I have been denied TWICE for promotion and basically been told I will NEVER be promoted here, especially with the current management. Why stay? Besides, my plan was always to leave after I graduated. I am not one of those people who want to stay a peon for the rest of my life and see all the people that I’ve trained move onward and upward. FUCK THAT! I want to move onward and upward.

Anyway, it’s time to get dressed and go work out…

Btw, that is two pieces of corn, cheese soup, blueberry bread pudding, some fries, and half a sammich. Kira (my coworker who got all that stuff) did not eat the blueberry bread pudding, it was thrown away in its entirety.

Please, tell your coworker Kira to stop buying more food than she can stomach. Doesn’t she know there’s cranky women on forums that have sworn off carbs until they their abz come back? At least she didn’t throw away the sandwich, that would be sacrilege.

Yay Greenie!! It is REALLY REAL!!!

YAY!!

and lol@Masch

Use that energy to tear it up at the gym Green! Keep telling 'em to F off and die as you hit that last rep!!

x2 on the “house that in one sitting.”

im the one who has a snack while my food is cooking.

so, greens, is it real? i mean really real?

So, this chick who has been making my life hell at work, all of a sudden is being nice to me. This was our convo today:

Her: you need to show me what you know.
Me: like what?
Her: like a refresher…you know…anything…
Me:…

Now, my manager told me she had been going around all snooty and shit bragging that she’s gonna be the senior rooms controller and he told her that she better concentrate on being the best rooms controller b/c the two new ones are gonna be passing her by before she knows it. So now she’s trying to be like me and learn everything I know.

Plus, she was all for me meeting IH in the beginning and then after I decided to move in with him she was asking me if I was sure about it, did I know him well enough, blah blah blah. Today she does the same thing and asks if I’m really leaving (enough already with that, jesus!) and am I sure I want to. See previous post for my answer.

On with the training!

All exercises are listed reps x weight.

Started with stretching and mobility work. I really like that part.

Widegrip Pulldowns: 4 sets of 6 x 60.

Machine Rows: 4 sets of 6 x 55.

Tris: 6 x 30, 3 sets of 6 x 40.

DB Curls: 4 sets of 6 x 12. I decided to do db curls because I wanted to see how weak my arms really are…turns out they’re really weak…12 lb DBs killed me.

Ending with 1 mile on the treadmill at 3.3mph and 1.5% incline.

I am off tomorrow and Wednesday which is a good thing b/c my final for my final class is tomorrow night and I have to finish writing the last chapter of my thesis which I haven’t even started (still modifying the previous chapter).

yay for days off!!

and for workouts! 6x12 is a lot of arm work. i hurt for you.

I’m totally laughing about the bitch at work trying to suck up to you now that she realizes her ass will be on the line without you there doing all the work. And your upcoming move is very exciting!

Glad to hear you’re starting to be more consistent with the training, too. Good work!
