Oh, Em. The guy is still hanging on after 4 e-mails of “not going to work out”?
Maybe he just needs to communicate with someone other than a fellow G.I.?

I’m only supposed to communicate with Hockey now. We decided.
But I didn’t mention Hockey to Iraq, just the distance and danger issues.
It seems mean to ignore him. :-/
Why would anyone in their right mind want multiple romantic partners? Lunacy.
Woo! Thats a pretty big step.

We’re sleeping together now and everything is just really good, so I think (and he seems to think) that it’s worth focusing on exclusively. Still not one single red flag. He’s strong and kind and funny. I’m sure there are negative qualities, but to this point I haven’t noticed any.
He’s always been enjoyable to be around, but now that I get to touch whenever I want to it’s even better.
I’m definitely having feelings.
Nice to hear.
I would simply tell Iraq the truth, and point out how it precludes communication with him.

I punted last night, but went ahead and gave a more honest answer this morning. He’s a good guy, from what I can tell, and deserves that. He knew there was someone else - he thought I met someone at my work party, but it was the shift with Hockey the following day, after snowshoeing and ice storm overnight, that he sensed.
I didn’t go into those details, just acknowledged that there had been a slow-moving thing and that ultimately I felt I needed to focus on potentially workable relationships rather than one that really has no chance.
Sucks. I feel like a cad.
Your compassion is admirable (and your feelings understandable) but you did nothing wrong, right?
“Good job,” I say. :-)
I actually got a really nice response to the more forthcoming email after no response to the first one. He is a nice guy. (Soldier of fortune career notwithstanding.)
