Let's Process Our Feelings II

Bearing in mind that THIS is how toothpaste is supposed to look.

are you going to tolerate this? after the online beatdown you gave me?

What? No. I mean I don’t roll it, but the tube should be compressed from the bottom, not the middle. That’s just awful.

I am afraid this is stong sign of incompatibility. Your relationship is in crisis. There is only one way to find out if it is irrepairable:

Breakfast roll: TOP OR BOTTOM?

I don’t know what to do about it! Obviously this is a very serious matter. Not only did he do this thing, he did it between 3:30 and 4:00 this morning, because that’s when he had to get up to make a flight. I think that shows serious devotion to doing it the wrong way.

It was an extreme struggle to obtain toothpaste this morning. I had to use two fingers to squeeze what little is left of the middle. :frowning:

I think I can safely say that we each like the entire breakfast roll. With three eggs. And some bacon.

HOWEVER, if I had to choose, God forbid, I would rather the bottom. I’ll have to set up a test wherein there is only one roll and it has to be split and offer both and see what he takes.

Sorry to here about the toothpaste Em. It seemed like things were going so well. Maybe there is some sort of compromise that can be reached, possibly one of those pump type tubes?

On a different note- My first day went well. The family was very cordial, except for the son who was just very busy. He warmed by the end of the day though. They bring their dogs to work which I think is great. Nothing breaks monotony like patting a happy dog on the head. Part way through the day the kid that was in the shop with me opened up a little and said I must be doing something right. When I asked why he told me that the last couple of guys didn’t make it to lunch. That made the initial stand-offishness make more sense too. He probably wanted to see if I was going to damage a bunch of stock before we can start laughing and joking. You don’t want to be too nice before you have to throw someone out of the shop.

So it was nice to get the first day out of the way. We got off to a good start.

Personally, I am glad that Emily found a man who knows how toothpaste is supposed to be rolled and squeezed, showing her the error of her heathen ways.

This is good to hear! I hope it becomes more and more enjoyable with each passing day.

Now are going to spill any more than that one bean?
I don’t know what to say. It just keeps being better and better and still nothing dark or concerning. I’ve never been treated as chivalrously but he’s not stuffy or formal at all; he makes me laugh until my stomach hurts; he can do things that awe me; and he’s very, very nice to sleep with and wake up with.

He seems to have a similar sense of gratitude and delight.

Sounds wonderful, but I actually meant the details of his reaction to “the talk.”
Hmm. His reaction was just. . .easy. He didn’t seem to express any anxiety whatsoever, and responded essentially that he is there with me.

I’m worried because I don’t do anything that’s awe-inspiring. In the past I seem to have gone for men who needed me. I don’t think Hockey does. It’s unsettling.

First rule of a successful relationship: NEVER argue over something that you can both do as you like.

Get him his own tube of toothpaste to keep at your place.
Oh, I’m not going to argue over toothpaste. This is the first time I’ve encountered this horror and I’ve been using his toothpaste, so I’m assuming he squeezes from the middle until it reaches a certain point. Or maybe every time I’ve used his toothpaste he’s been all “WTF!” afterward. I’ll have to pay closer attention now that I know it’s An Issue.

People who fret over tiny shit like that just need something to argue about. That is, unless the toothpaste is missing it’s cap and has all dry chunks all over the nozzle. Then, and only then is toothpaste worth arguing about. It’s much better to argue over why the toilette paper is supposed to drape over and down the roll so you can easily grab it, rather than under the roll and against a board or wall where you cannot easily grab onto it. Total deal breaker right there.

Really Em!

You’re in a good place. Stop analysing and just be. It sounds like he values you, not for what you can do for him, or because he misses something, but for you…

Scary, eh?

Yep, there are no excuses Emily. This dude seems legit, no analysis paralysis for you!

Boy, are you high-maintenance. It’s not like the toilet paper’s positioning is something important, like whether the sheets and blankets are securely tucked in at the bottom of the bed. Now THAT is worth coming to blows over.

It’s terrifying, because what if I wind up needing him? :-/
