High Estrogen... Help!

Hi!

I recently got my bloodwork back and was told my estradiol levels were “slightly higher than normal”. My doc told me I shouldn’t worry about it however, because the rest of my tests were fine.

It turns out I have an estradiol level of 0,13 nmol/L (normal range between 0,08-0,11 nmol/L). My testosterone levels came in normal though, at mid-20s (normal range: 10-35 nmol/L).

I am so depressed because of this. I’m only 19 years old and I feel like complete crap and have had this terrible brain fog for years. My libido isn’t close to what it used to be, but I’m still functioning in that area (including morning wood every day) so to say.

On the other hand I feel like I’m having good progress in the gym. At 200 lbs I currently bench 250-260 pounds and can deadlift close to 400. Not very big numbers, I know, but compared to what I was lifting 6 months ago they are.

I have no idea why my estradiol levels are so high, and I’m not sure how much it contributes to the way I’m feeling. Since I was little, I have always struggled with anxiety, stress and depression. Could this possibly be a factor to my hormone levels, and not the other way around?

One thing has been bothering me tremendously. I started on Propecia (Finasteride) at the young age of 17. I stopped after a couple of months, yet I have never felt the same since and can’t help think it messed up my HPTA.

I have been thinking of ordering Clomid or maybe an aromatase inhibitor, hoping it could possibly shock the HPTA into a new and better equilibrium/homeostasis. Or would the effect just be temporary?

I’m Scandinavian, so you’ll have to excuse my English.

Thanks

Hi Teartear,

I would advise you not to use Clomid or Nolvadex at such a young age. I am 62 and use 3 tablets Biotest REZ-V in the morning and if you take a look at my pic you can imagine that my estrogen is very low. You can order it via the Biotest UK site.

Good luck,

Ben

Id check you diet and like above said go with a more supplement and herbal based route then starting to pack in meds now at this age and with very low raised levels

check you environment as well, plastics are you using them a lot in microwaving food, sprays like paint bug spray etc are you in contact with them a lot.

Phill

Man I feel you, go with what the other guys above had to say, personally I found that changing my diet to be more compliant with Berardi’s rules helped me feel better with low T, what especially helped was having a lot of good fat before bed.

i’m talking 2tbsp’s peanut butter and some fish oil caps, I could almost immediately feel the effect of this the next morning, also supplement with Zinc. Good fats and Zinc are essential to hormone regulation especially before sleeping.

Take care,

ShadoW

Thanks alot guys!
I just think it’s strange having elevated estradiol while not being hypogonadal, and that this may be more of a medical case than something that can be treated the herbal route.

What are your views on the Propecia (Finasteride). Do you think it can be blamed?

What is your bodyfat? I ask because since your natural testosterone is converted to estrogen in fat cells, your elevated E could be a result of obesity.

As Phill said, check for phyto and xeno estrogens. You don’t drink soy milk by any chance?

Increasing fat intake may help increase T, but if it’s just being converted to E then that may not help.

You might consider Alpha Male or other tribulus-based product, but my advice would be to stay away from products like clomid especially, as it can have strong emotional side effects.

I’m not sure exactly what my bodyfat percentage is, but I’m fairly “lean”. I have a 4-pack, and there is some vascularity in my chest/shoulder region.

As for phyto- and xenoestrogens, I try to stear clear of them as much as possible. I’m not sure they really would increase serum E2 levels in the blood though (?).

Anyway, I occasionally have some soy sauce with my rice/sushi, that’s it. My diet mainly consists of eggs, meat, veggies, nuts, milk/kefir/cheese and one big meal at the student cantine. I try to get lots of healthy fats, I even sip olive oil straight from the bottle.

Tribulus and Alpha Male are in essence testosterone boosters. Testosterone isn’t my main concern though, since my T at least is in the upper side of the normal range. If anything, wouldn’t natural T-Boosters actually raise estrogen levels as a consequnce of increased testosterone?

I did some cycles of Rebound XT by Anabolic Xtreme a while ago. Didn’t really notice anything but sore joints, and I really hope it hasn’t had any lasting side effects on me.

When you say Clomid can have strong emotional side effects, are these temporary or can such drugs mess me up - in a worst case scenario - for life?

I really appreciate you took the time to respond, thank you.

In the teenage years, this is very common, and will usually correct itself.

Don’t be. Your levels are just SLIGHTLY elevated, and like I said, this is common in the teenage years. Hormones go crazy at this time.

This is also quite common in the teenage years…

[quote]Teartear wrote:

It tends to level out in the early 20s. It’s the early to mid teen years where it is really through the roof.

First, “slightly higher” is not “so high.” Second, you seem to be over-thinking this. Everyone has anxiety, stress, and depressive problems at times. I am not trying to belittle you here or be rude, but that is part of life.

(Now, if you genuinely believe that you have serious issues in this area, have that evaluated by a professional.)

Your system almost certainly returned to normal after a relatively short time period.

It’s best not to tamper with your hormones. You’re still at a time where it’s common to have higher levels. You should just let it be. They’re only SLIGHTLY elevated, and your doctor said you shouldn’t be concerned about it. He’s right.

Excuse what? Your English is more better than many people on this board…

Thank you so much for writing this post, it really meant something for me.
