Bump. Anybody make any progress?
In the past few weeks, I’ve hit 375 touch and go and a 380 floor press. I’m sneaking up on it, slowly but surely.[/quote]
Well, my bench has moved 20 pounds or so since my last post in this thread. In the wrong direction unfortunately. (dropping a weight class and a month of weddings and vacations)
My best is 345 and I missed 365 about half way up at my last meet. I’m in.
EDIT: Best rep work is 315 x 3 and 325 x 2. BW is a little under 198 at the moment (the 315 x 3 was only a few days ago).
Decided to start close gripping and pausing everything.
Basically going to do 3x5 of close grip paused bench for the next 10 weeks trying to add 5 lbs on that each week. Started with 235, did 240 this week, onwards to 245 next. We’ll see if it pays off and gives me more carryover. Accessory work will be heavy DB presses, seated DB Military Press, Pec Deck, and Klokov Presses. Also working on building my trap and rear delt strength for my pull hopefully this will also carry over more to my bench as well.
Hit it tonight:
Actual lift starts about a minute in. Had issues editing the vid down.

NIce work, onward to 500!
That’s Dave Smiley isn’t it? I’ve seen him around at a few meets, that guy is a class act.
Decided to start pausing everything and close gripping everything for the next 10 weeks. I feel as though my triceps and my ability to stay tight when coming off my chest are my two biggest issues so we’ll see how this goes. So far so good.

Yeah that’s Dave. He’s one of my good buddies. He’s coming back from a knee injury so you should see him around again in the near future. Just started squatting again last week.
If everyone’s not sick of it yet, I want to jump in too.
I’m 25, 6’5", 289 lb. Today I benched 385, a 75 lb. increase since last September. I left a bit in the tank; the weight went up smooth, and I think I could have gotten 395, but I have a history of shoulder issues (competitive swimming 12+ years), so I don’t max out unless I am CERTAIN I can get the weight with relative ease.
Currently on 6x2-3, keeping the same weight for all sets. Two more weeks of this, then I’ll go to 3/2/1 wave loading for awhile.
Quick question - do anyone else’s glutes rise a bit on the concentric? I can still feel the bench against my butt, but I am definitely coming off it a bit with my leg drive. Is that still legit?
