Let's Define It

No knock on Evan from my side… But he is both taller and lighter than kai, no? Kai is probably bigger than cutler… And I don’t think Evan is there yet at all although he has made great improvements.

Has been a while since I checked his stats though, where’s he at now?

I thought people meant it that way: big bodybuilders, Marius and co, even olympia guys, would mostly be one step below holy shit, where holy shit is reserved for the most massive ala Richards, Coleman, Smith, Greene…

To the majority of people in the gym Zac Efron is ripped.

And Shaq is bigger than Evan and Kai what is your point?? Evan is my favorite BB but, he does not have the holy shit factor of other BB’s like Kai/Jay/Ronnie do… yet.
I agree with this however there are varying levels of Holy shit! While Kai may be at the top end of the Holy Shit spectrum along with guys like Ronnie and Branch you can’t really exclude Evan from the holy shit category. To me he just falls lower on the spectrum of “Holy shit!” then Kai does.

Similarly while Zac Efron and Brad Pitt have more defined abs then everyone’s favorite Sparkling vampire that doesn’t make him fat in any way shape or form. He simply falls closer to the other end of the skinny spectrum.
I agree but, since the goal was to make a list I feel the categories should be clearly defined and the spectrum within the category should be avoided. If the Hulk existed he would be in his own WHHHATTT TTHHEE FUUCK section no else would be there.

Ya but the Hulk is fictional so that’s irrelevant.

I wouldn’t know without seeing him next to kai… I don’t think he’d hold his own esp. from the back, but I don’t know.

Dunno about 2010 pics.

Damn man, typing “Kai Greene Most Muscular” into google image search nets me like zero most muscular shots. Great.

Rear lat spread and legs I dunno… Rear lat vs. cutler I’d say he’ll lose.
Legs not sure… Kai probably still has him beat there…

But hey, hard to judge without seeing them next to each other… I hope that Evan can get a high placing at the O if he competes.

If you don’t think there’s a difference between Matt fuckng McConaughey (sp) and Ronnie form JS, then I respect your opinion even less.

I guess well have to wait for the 2011 Arnold to get a real comparison. Although you can pretty much guarantee that Evan is making much bigger improvements then Kai at this point. Kai can’t really get much bigger and he doesn’t really seem to have any body parts that need to be brought up. All Kai really needs to do at this point is nail his conditioning to win.

I think a lot of folks are getting frustrated because there are two ways to judge these dudes:

 1. Alone (this will allow guys like Franco and Lee Preist to look HUGEEEEE)
 2. In a lineup (as in a bbing show, something which benefits the taller/smoother dudes)

As most posters have pointed out as far a bbing it’s hard to beat: Oliva, Vic Richards, Yates, Coleman, Kai!!!

I’m judging my rankings not only based on looking at google images, but based on what these dudes would look like in person* (obv I haven’t seen Yates, Coleman, Kai in contest shape in person, but I’ve met some pro SHW’s in person, watched a top 3 WSM finisher train in his home gym, and considering the guys I HAVE seen in person are “freakin’ huuuuge”, I can’t even imagine what a legend in their prime looks like…

I attached a file for those who haven’t seen the WSM lately, the guy I watched train is one of the taller competitors (6’6"-6’7"), and comparing the pictures of him to the more developed guys makes me shake my head in amazement.

WSM Pic

EDIT
CC and company do make a solid point above mass/height, structure and fullness of muscle bellies.
Interesting that Vic Richards, Yates and Coleman are all about 5’10"…

Like I said I am going off Matthaeus list NOT mine. You think Ronnie is in the same CAT. as stallone/Dwayne/Michael Jai.

If that is the case most if not many WSM competitors would make me say holy shit in person 6’1-6’8 300+ LBS DAMN.

I see, I guess it goes as far as what personal values hold. I don’t consider the term “big” to mean much. People call me big, and I’m not impressed most times I look in the mirror. I consider Ronnie an above-average lifter. That’s what I consider big. Someone who you can tell that he look like he lifts with a shirt on, but not someone that makes people really start to think more than lifts wights when they’re in public. Just not really that remarkable of an achievement.

Here’s a better pic of Ronnie. Lol I’m very curious what world you are living in if this is only an average physique…

Not a single person is going to look at him and think “he maybe sorta works out”

I have already said that no one is going to say he does not lift but, look at list I was going off of (Matthaeus).

Three categories
Weight
Height
Leanness

genetics can help interplay between categories to either knock you down a level or boost you up one.

basically something like that.

so you can rate low height, average weight and high leanness (mixed with good genetics) to get a holy shit like madtitan

only by scoring relatively high in all categories can you reach Phreak status.

I really think some of this depends on if the question is asked in person or who they are standing next to.

Some of the tall strong man guys like Pfister or Samuelson look like crap in pictures, but they’d probably get a “holy shit” out of me in person.
This is a huge factor that makes things hard to judge through pictures alone. Someone who’s 5’5 and comp-level lean at 200lbs or so is going to probably look “huge” in a picture with no frame of reference. A 6’5 guy who’s 250lbs (I’m just pulling these numbers out of my ass, but you should get the idea) at the same level of leanness probably won’t look quite as impressive in a pic with no reference. Get a pic of them standing next to each other and all of a sudden the perspective will change quite a bit.
?

That is the difference between newbs posting their opinion and people who have experience here.

I doubt there are many serious lifters who are in the dark about height and weight differences. They can still tell who’s built and who isn’t.

If someone being 5’5" throws you off, you haven’t been doing this long enough to voice an opinion.
So by pointing out the fact that it’s hard to visually appreciate a taller person’s size in a picture when there is no frame of reference, I’m a newbie and my opinion doesn’t count? LOL, it’s called an optical illusion and it applies to anything shown in a picture. I could tell you the dimensions of NASA’s vehicle assembly building and I’m sure you could mentally acknowledge how big it is, but until you actually see something like that in person the true scale will not compute. I’m not saying you or anyone else hasn’t seen a muscular tall person before, I was just pointing out that in general this is the case. How does any of that translate to me being thrown off by a person who’s 5’5"? And where did I ever suggest that anyone didn’t understand the relationship between height and weight?

I think the earlier discussion about Phil Pfister proves my point perfectly. I have seen him in person and there’s no other word to describe him besides monster. I agree that in pictures he does not appear all that impressive, but anyone that thinks he looks like he doesn’t workout after seeing a forearm the size of their head has issues. I also agree that he looks nothing like a bodybuilder, probably shouldn’t have been mentioned in this thread in the first place, and certainly doesn’t fall in the holy shit category; but any serious lifter would have to consider him higher than “big”. I think “heavyweight” doesn’t exactly do his muscle mass justice either, but I could live with that rating. A pound of muscle is a pound of muscle, it doesn’t matter what someone’s height is, how lean they are (relatively speaking, a true fat ass is still a fat ass), or if that muscle is distributed symetrically.

holy shit

Bigger than McGrath and JJ

He has put on so much size the past year, he is a freak, kid is going places in the pro ranks. If someone doesn’t say “holy shit” to his size, than idk what delusional world they’re living.
