Bulking in essence, is the EXACT same process as gettin fat. Plain and simple, the more intra-cellular triglycerides you can get into your ass, the more anabolic goodness that you can shove in your mouth the ANABOLIC you will be.
In summation: Gettin big is the EXACT same as getting fat, except you life heavy shit when doing it.
So if you want to get big, don’t EVER ask how you can do it without gettin fat.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know that all the people who have gotten bigger while staying lean are actually asleep and having a blissfull dream 'cause it never really happened.

You should change that to “if you want to get big fast…”
Not everyone feels the need to make visible gains immediately, or to constantly outgrow their clothes. Taking time gaining mass allows you to get big and strong without getting fat, and it doesn’t make you less hardcore/macho.

It isn’t just about gaining muscle fast. I don’t think some people truly understand that as you get older, the ability to put on large amounts of muscle is going to decrease, not stay exactly the same.
I wouldn’t recommend too many people actually “bulk up” after the age of 35. However, for some 18 year old kid to think he has “forever” to take advantage of his own increased hormone levels and make as much progress as possible, the truth is, that just is not the case.
I don’t agree with how the original poster worded his post. Any newbie is going to take that wrong.

This an entirely relative relative statement. Bigger isn’t the same as, as big as they could’ve gotten and lean can mean different things to different people.
He can correct me if I’m wrong, but I have never heard even the bulkomatic deluxe himself Professor X advocate “getting fat” as a prerequisite for making good gains. All that’s ever been said is you can make larger faster gains if you don’t worry about putting on a certain amount of fat in the process.
I would go so far as to say that this holds true even for guys over 35 though you have to be much more careful as the fat doesn’t fall off like it once did. Especially if you’re eventually shooting for single digits.
I understand what the OP was trying to say, but I also agree that it was phrased in an easily misunderstood way, though if recent history is any indication getting new guys to eat is usually a bigger task than helping them avoid eating too much.

Well said. People put words in your mouth just so they can create an argument…because they wouldn’t be able to fight much of what was said otherwise.
A lack of well informed patience seems to me to be the primary cause of this recent hysteria regarding bulking and cutting. I don’t understand why so many, especially young guys seem to be willing to excercise more patience with their gains than they are with losing fat. Losing fat takes considerably less time and effort and even less still the more lean mass you’re carrying.
Yet so many seem to be willing to wait for gains in the fear of gaining fat. It’s upside down. Unless size and strength is really that much less important than just seeing those abs. I’m not going to be the one to tell anybody that those goals are wrong, but then that isn’t bodybuilding.
It then becomes a bit easier to understand why some guys get aggravated with people coming to bodybuilding’s think tank, seemingly in droves lately, asking for non bodybuilding advice. I’m not saying everybody handles it the way I would, just that it’s easier to understand if seen in that light. It’s a little like going to a drag racing forum and asking how you can get better mileage out of your station wagon.
