How Do You Calculate Contest Shape?

I am not doing a contest, but i was 10.1% BF about a month ago when i got tested last. That means to get down to 0 BF, which i know is not reasonable, i would have to lose about 20 pounds. Now everytime i have tried to lose weight i would lose about 10-12 pounds… which should bring me well into single digits… but i just dont feel like i look single digits.

My abs are visible for the most part, but not when i am not flexing. I think most of this weight must be water… so when your trying to get into a really lean state do you add a couple pounds onto the number you recieved by multiplying the percent?

Before i get flamed like hell for being too small, i dont care i’m not a bodybuilder. There is not a website catering to people who like to lift weights but dont want to be bodybuilders that i know of so this is a good place for info for me. Its been a long time since i was really lean and i wanna do it again for fun.

I think you might die at 0 BF.

well aware, i dont want to get to 0 that was just an example

Please dawn your flame retardant suit and standby.

there are a lot of sites that cater to weight training in general.

men’s health, cosmo, shape, etc

I dunno, thats what every bodybuilding site it probably known for… Is anyone going to answer the question?

BTW info in my profile is way outdated, it wants me to fill shit out that i dont want to so i wont change it. I am well over 188 if that will help get a serious answer out of someone. BTW jehovas your 195 @ 15%… i carry considerably more muscle than you, what are you doing make smart ass remarks?

You better be lifting heavy as$ weights muthasucka.

Add 5-7 lbs to the number you would have at 0%

You question didn’t even make sense.

thanks elano

where was the smart ass remark?

He told you of some sites that cater to people like you who don’t want to build big muscles and just get ‘ripped’ or in shape.

I question your method of measurement. How do you know you are 10%? This is probably wrong. Did you use one of those dumb scales?

Also, besides being impossible to get to zero percent, you would have to lose more than 20lbs, because it would need to be 20lbs of pure body fat, in which case you would also lose muscle, fluid, etc in the process. And you would waste away to almost nothing or as posted above maybe even die.

There is plenty of info you can read or search for in these forums, these articles, or just plain google about leaning down in the various stages of preparing for contest with nutrition, carbs, exercise, etc. Please do.

You question the method of measurement when he got exactly 10.1% BF?

Too many factors influence visibility of abs at whatever body fat - size of abs relative to amt of fat directly covering it, skin looseness, water, fat distribution, and also how tight the muscular sheath covering your abs (not sure abt the name) is. There is a certain bodybuilder who has visible abs only when he gets to contest condition because he has a tight abdominal sheath.

If youre not a bber, why worry abt getting to contest shape? Do P90X and get ripped instead…

You’re 2 inches taller than he is. You typically add 10 pounds of lean mass anyway for every inch of height (independently of weight training), so relatively speaking he carries more muscle than you do.

I think the smart-ass remark was Cosmo.

I lol’d

Ignoring the absolute retardity (new word DONT STEAL IT!!!) of your question.

How can you expect legitimate and useful responses from people without showing us what you look like. Not everyone looks the same at 10%. I have abs showing without flexing when I’m above 10%. Ingram (a pro BB, dont remember his first name) barely has abs in contest condition. There are so many personal variations its absurd. You could have at least given your current height and weight.

For the lack of knowledge the OP demonstrates…yes, I do question how he got 10.1% Regardless…

Get this shit off outta this forum.
