Leg Development with Lower Back Pain

About 2 months ago I followed a heavy AM deadlift/squat session with a round of golf. Mistake. I should have let my back rest. The torque from my swing coupled with a weakened back has caused some serious ongoing lower back trauma that even my ART practitioner has been unable to relieve. I have given my back lots of rest and am trying to slowly rehab it with stretching, lighter weights, higher reps, more rest between sets and stretching between sets. My legs are digressing quickly and my back still aches for 3-4 days after a leg workout. Does anyone have experience with this as to how to effectively work around this problem and allow some healing while at least maintaining leg development/strength? Any programs or lower back friendly exercises that might help? I tried DB deads yesterday and they seemed to take some strain off the back. Thanks in advance for any assistance you could offer. I’m sure I am like many of you when these things happen. I hate these nagging injuries that keep me from performing my best and making progress in the gym. Very annoying to say the least.

I think the best thing you can do is the correct type of ab work. Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

There was a recent T-mag article (last couple of months at most) about using electrical stim by, I think, Charles Staley. E-stim is used sometimes to preserve muscle in one body part while prioritizing another bodypart. Basically, if I remember the idea correctly, e-stim allows muscle to be maintained without exhausting neurological reserves used to build up the prioritized body part. Legs have large muscle groups that would be ideal for this sort of preservation-oriented training while your back heals.

Just a thought: You might also get some physical therapy!
