cal- if anything, the high rep sets on those dl’s will earn me back my callouses. i miss those. and yeah, all kinds of reasons to have crappy workouts. lately, im just glad to get in.
which brings me to my weekend training.
nothing official, pegg and i chose more time with his kids over the gym sat am, but we definitely got workouts in via playtime. I’d forgotten how much fun (and how exhausting) those two little boys can be, and was damned near comatose on the couch by 10pm on saturday. loved every minute of it. except the leaving part.
i brought spanish flashcards with me for the drive to indianna, and they stayed in my pocket the whole time. bad bear.
but, i just got my most recent grade back from my quiz on wed… 92.5! yeah bitches!
I’ve begun to rate my experiences in that class on a scale of 1-5. 1 being ok, 5 is me getting up and walking out of class. I hit a 2.5 today, bc the prof had to put indicative “come see me bc your grade is fucked up” markings on some of those quizzes and took class time to discuss study habits.
ITS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. ITS HARD. YOU NEED TO STUDY. that is all.

walking, 10 min @ 3.0mph and 6.5% incline. ← calves were feeling this one, and the ankle was behaving itself. still a lil swollen (i notice it, dunno if anyone else would) and iffy in the larger ROM’s, but mostly pretty damn good for 4+ weeks after.
also, ~15 min in the hot tub. i needed that, and it was lovely. i was the only one in there, loud fans going to help me zone out… ahhhhh.
Bear, you are kick-ass. Glad to hear school is going well for you (I am not in the least bit surprised though), glad to hear your ankle is doing better, and glad to hear you don’t have to do the high volume stuff for too long.
Are you still thinking of doing another meet in Decemberish?
yes, still thinkin of doin a meet this winter. i’ll need to do something besides work, rosetta stone spanish, and hanging out with jason and my fam. something constant. its lifting.
Ankles are funny things - the blood flow isn’t brilliant there so sprains take a long time to heal fully. When I sprained my left ankle back in the summer (wasn’t a bad sprain - I just rolled over on it, it hurt, I walked out the pain and then continued running for another 7 miles…only to find it very swollen when I got back) I was able to run on it right away but even now, if I gently pull my foot inwards I can feel it. Can’t sit on my heels either. Sure you’ll be fine though.
cal- the ankle thing still weirds me out once in awhile. when i forget i have less than stellar ROM and it rolls too far but pops and doesnt hurt it makes me jump for a sec then im all like, hell yeah! I tried and I cant sit on my heels yet either. well, i can do 1, but that’d just be odd.
n- are you sure you weren’t a math major? thats brilliant!
plucky- I had a VERY GOOD and i mean EXCELLENT spanish teacher for 2 of the 3 years i took spanish in high school, elebenty billion years ago. this is 101 in college, and it will be a race to see which year covered more- 101 in college or freshman in hs. but really. my spanish in highschool was awesome. for a white suburban chick.
training this week-
not much. felt awful the first half of the week, and helped my boss move a few pieces of furniture into peggs apt on wed, slept like a beast for 11 hours last night. i woke ready to RAWR!!

squats with safety bar- it was already on the monolift, and i figured what the hell.
i fucking hate that bar. will prolly grow to love it someday.

bar, bar, 95, 95, 115. thought about doing another set at 115 and decided against it. I woke up feeling good, and all kinds of motivated, but ended up walking into the gym in a pissy mood. even forgot my gymbag. its not like im a gear whore and have all that much to remember, either. had i really needed something, the equipment available and the other lifters woulda helped me out. theyre awesome like that.
then i did 4 or 5 sets of 10 lying leg curls… weight was about 45 on rep 1 of each set and about 900 by the 10th.
