Left My Belt In The Rain

Now its all soaking wet. I’m actually tying this while resting before my last heavy squat of the workout…

So… its probably been sitting outside for a week, stupid me. Do you guys think it will only stretch (which won’t be an issue for me) or will the belt weaken and break once it dries out? I’d rather not replace the belt. Right now, it feels VERY sturdy. Other than being wet, no difference in stability and it doesn’t feel loose yet.

Nevermind. I heard a thread pop on the last set, lol.

I’m ordering a new one.

Edit: I think my belt was a 10-12mm thick belt. Any reason to get a thicker one? I really don’t see the need.

As well, does anyone know about the thickness on the retro belt that elitefts sells?

Edit 2:

Inzer has two belts:
10mm: 60 bucks
13mm: 70 bucks

Elitefts:
10mm: 50 bucks
10-12mm: 65 bucks
13mm: 90 bucks

Any recomendations? Price matters.

from starting strength: Thickness is important in that a very thick, laminated suede belt feels very good under a big weight. Its almost complete lack of stretch makes for a comfortable ride. Such belts are expensive though and any good single ply 4 inch leather belt with a good buckle will work.

I would take from that if you didn’t have issues with the previous thickness belt stretching that size would be ok. I don’t use one so no personal insight

good luck

Someone left the belt out in the raaaiiin.
I don’t think that I can take it,
'cause it took so long to, er, buy it…

Elite 10mm

I have both an Inzer 10mm and an Elitefts 10mm. I like the Inzer better. The Inzer broke in easier, and the buckle on the Elite is tough to get out of.

I was wondering guys…

I’ve decided to get a lever belt, sorry old dax, since I can’t wait around 2 to 3 weeks for a belt from EFS. If I wasn’t going to get a lever, or I had more time, I would consider EFS.

The 10mm seems like a good idea.Its as supportive as a 13mm?

I’ve a 13mm inzer leaver which I love. BUT it’s so thick it cuts the shit out of me if I wear it too low. And I’ve cracked ribs with it too…

I was wearing one of my training partners 11mm lever belts yesterday which I found really good Lifting Large - Serious Gear for Serious Athletes

Yeah, cracking a rib is not worth another 3mm, lol.

Hanley, you think the inzer 10mm is as of good quality as the belt in your link? There’s 30 dollar USD price difference which is a lot.

Welll… I train with 2 700+lb squatters (one at 220, the other at 198) who both have 10mm belts so I’d say they’re plenty good enough!!!

Thanks! I’ll order the 10mm inzer.

It must be nice to train with some crazy strong people like that.

I ordered a 10mm inzer lever belt. Thanks

I know I’m a little late here, but from my experience, it doesn’t actually take 2-3 weeks for efs to get their belts out. I ordered a belt a while back and it took maybe a week to get, then again I’m also within the state.

But, yeah, I dont know what my point was…I like efs, I’m impatient and they send me my stuff fast.

The Inzer belt sounds nice

Buckeye, you know, i was really considering the EFS belt for the price. The thing that swayed me to inzer was trying out the lever belt. I only wear my belt at one size, otherwise, I don’t wear one. So I can set it and forget (I should do info-mercials).

Thanks for the info about EFS. You own one of their belts? If so, how do you like it?

I got the retro belt about a month ago. (its black, double prong, 4in wide, 10mm thick)I have only used it a couple times but it seems nice. Don’t have much to compare it to.

I’m still working on breaking it in. I could hardly wrap it around myself when I first got it and its still pretty stiff.

Do you ever roll the belt up and sit on it or anything to bend it and generally break it in?

Its usually rolled up and wrapped in a band. I switch the way its rolled whenever I think of it. I kinda squash and bend it when i unroll it.

It’s cool to get new stuff, but did the belt get ruined? It would seem to me like it should be okay after drying out. And if I might ask, how in the hell did you leave it out in the rain, hahaha!

I also have a lever belt from inzer, 10 mm I think, and love it. I’m thinking about getting the pr belt so I could get a more specific fit. The lever is a little loose when I have it set for gear as opposed to just a shirt and shorts. usually, I’m to lazy to readjust it, hahaha!

Before the lever belt, I had an old Bob Morris belt. He was the first to make leather double thickness belts. I think it was 50-60 bucks back in 1983, but it’s still good.

Yeah, it’s pretty awesome alright. Both done in single ply gear and walked out. Just awesome to see.

tom63, funny story…

I was doing some sled dragging outside and set up to use the belt, but decided instead to just wrap the rope around my waist. I left the belt on the ground, and did my routine, cleaned up and forgot i brought the belt out there.

It sat out for a week! Shows how often I use my belt (about 6 times a month).

The belt made a loud pop while I was doing some heavy squats. It was some of the stitching, although I’m not sure where specifically.
