Lee Haney

Out of all the Mr. Olympians, and pro bodybuilders, I have never really watched or read much about Lee Haney.

I’m a huge proponent in believeing attitude will win you many battles in the gym. After watching a lot of Lee Haney videos recently, I have yet to see any bodybuilder with the positive attitude, energy, and life this man brings to the gym.

If I were to copy any bodybuilders attitude it would be his. I think everyone could learn a thing or two from this great man!

I’ve been watching this little series, and besides the weider adds, it’s been pretty enjoyable, and the energy him and his training partner create is absolutely inspiring.

Posting quickly while watching this series… he has a book named “Totally Awesome.” I laughed so hard when he held it up talking about it. You’re right though they bring some energy, but I’m sure some of it was for show(jumping high five!)

It could be his faith. I know quite a few devout Christians who have a sort of positive inner light, no matter what the situation. Lee is a Christian and I’d bet he’d attribute his attitude to his faith.

I second this opinion I have met Lee on many occasion and he is exactly the same as he is in the clips he is a kind devout Christian Gentlmen with a great sense of humor who genuinely cares about people! I very decent individual anyone would be pleased to share company with.

Gotta love Haney. Not too many folks truly love what they do, and how many people do you know, who after years and years of training, are still fired up about it? Even those pro BBers who claim they view BBing as their jobs,… take it away from them, and they get al fired up again (Cutler?) Besides, who wouldn’t be all fired up dressed in spandex pants and a headband?! You’d look all Funkey Fresh Bro!

Definately is. How could you not have a fun time, and get in an awesome workout if you lifted with the energy those guys have everytime you entered the gym.

He is a personal role model of mine.

Lee Haney quotes:

“What you are is God?s gift to you. What you make of yourself is your gift to God.”

“Convenience is made through inconvenience. Work hard, don?t waste life ? and treat people the way you want to be treated.”

“I don?t have a religion. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. He was always inclusive of all people while teaching the principles of Love and Compassion.”

And of course…

“Stimulate, not annihilate.”

This is exactly how I feel. Organized religion has completely screwed up the concept of tolerance and even love.

problem is most gyms these days wont allow you to train with that intensity.

Me as well. I go to Cathlic Church with my family. My mom doesn’t understand that me missing Church at times is not a way of me disrespecting God. She doesn’t realize I have a relationship with God beyond Church. In the end it’s how you live your life and your faith that will determine your fate, not what sect of Christianity or whatever you practice.

exactly. bottom line is how you live, not what you read or claim is “the way”. i think religion is stupid not because of its spiritual nature but because it just segregates people but people have always segregated themselves in one way or another, i guess its just part of human nature and a search for identity and realistically some people find their identity though religion like we find our indentity through bodybuilding. and they may clash with other religions just like BBers clash with the fitness crowd. its the way of the world and wont change in our lifetimes.

I’ll tell you what though, I better be able to lift weights in heaven. I also hope that it takes the same amount of time to grow big and strong up there because I don’t want some skinny punks turning big out of nowhere just because we’re in heaven. I also hope our strength/growth potential is ininate, although nobody will probably be worrying about that kind of stuff. Lol.

Ohh, and the female angels better be smokin hot.

While Jesus loved everyone He was not ‘tolerant’ of all behavior. (Matt 21:11-13, Luke 22:35-37)

on topic: im pleased with the current trend of the Bodybuilding section.

Well, yeah. When you turn the house of God into a market place, then he has a right to be angry. He believed in being angry over the right reasons - namely, dishonoring God.
