How exactly would hanging out with a guy and playing games with him prevent him from achieving greater things? That’s a load of shit. You only become the top 5 people spend time with if you’re a monkey who can only ape other’s habits or successes.
If that were actually true, humanity could never have elevated itself. Leaders clearly are not limited by the success of their associates and can achieve by their own merit and not by looking to others to emulate.
That’s such a pathetic fearful mentality. I get that there’s truth to it being good to share time with success stories, we can’t all be leaders, I’m certainly not, but OP could be. I just don’t see how, if he’s going to play video games either way, how it would make a difference who he does it with.
Can you tell us the titles of some of the series he’s into that you’re worried about? Have you tried to find some middle ground, like in badass anime like Golgo 13?
If it’s something like Ro-Kyu-Bu then just try to appreciate it for the basketball and protagonist who can do 1-arm pushups.

I have to agree that Golgo 13 makes man have more chest hair! The collection is a must have it.
Tyciol, his favorite animes that I know of are Ouran Highschool host club, Kamichama Karin and Neogenesis Evangelion.
He keeps insisting I re-watch Evangelion because he considers it such a work of art but I think he feels that way just because he’s not well read. I see the show as pretentious and self-indulgent.
Most of the animes he likes don’t even have any action in them. They’re usually just romantic comedy style animes that have the same joke repeated over and over again.
Basically…
“Nerdy guy gets caught in awkward situation with a bunch of attractive girls and gets embarrassed…hahahaha, rinse and repeat.”
I have heard him try to justify his love for My Little Ponies to me. He says that its a strong tale about friendship. I have to wonder though aren’t there plenty of more mature stories that also have friendship as a strong theme like Lord of the Rings? He hates all Western style stories though. He won’t even play Western video games like Skyrim, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age.
He’s not in the greatest shape but having worked in the industry you don’t actually need to be. If you’re in good enough shape to coach a barbell squat, hip hinge, as well as pushing and pulling biomechanics then you have what it takes. He’s kind of skinny fat. He has a terrible diet. He eats zip vegetables, only meat and sugar. On the plus side he’s not a smoker and he doesn’t drink heavily.
I think him not getting the Ace certification is due much more to academic laziness as opposed to not having what it takes. ACE has certified some of the biggest dumbasses ever to work in the industry, it is by every definition an entry level certification. I imagine most of the people who post here could pass the test without even studying.

I have to agree with Ripsaw
the friend I mentioned earlier? She hasn’t talked to me since I told her she complains too much. I checked twitter today at lunch and it was full of her omg have to wake up at 7 am/passive aggressive musings. If someone is lazy and has big flaws, you bet that they have character and personality flaws. That all will possibly rub off on you or at the least make them less exciting to hang out with. Life is too short to be spent with bonerkills

I just saw your friend on the cover of Euphoria magazine. You should probably congratulate him. That, or euthanize him. Your call.
