Claire, that sounds like my daughter, she has a thing for speed and scares me half to death. I tell her to learn control first, speed after but she doesn’t listen.
Sounds like a fun place to ski for the family. It’s great your kids can get to the mountain on the school bus. When I lived in North Vancouver it was like that, I could leave work at 5 and be skiing before 6 at my choice of 3 mountains. Now I usually go to Jay Peak in Vermont, I find it’s the best in the area for glade skiing, and that’s my favorite!
If you don’t want to go to CO, I’ll gladly take your place. I have family in Denver and skiing in the Rockies is powder heaven!

I have to say I am so much happier with the new program Eric has me on. Normal set-rep range finally.
I want to add a ham/glute raise to the leg day though. Is it better to use the bench (the one that looks like the hyper-extension station kinda) or do them in another way? I’ve seen people using an incline bench and it looked effective. I want to build my leg muscles up more, they are still soft looking. And my ass is getting too flat, IMO.
Workout 12/01/07-at home
Military Press
15x40, 12x45, 10x45
Bent Over Row-to the chops
12x45, 10x50, 8x55
Behind Neck Press
12x40, 8x45 (should have been 10, but it was heavy for me), 8x45
BB Row
15, 12, 10x60
Overhead tricep extension
12x10x8x30
Skullcrushers
15,12,10x30
20 minutes elliptical hill climb
Does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding the NCSA certification program?

I love Jay Peak!!!
used to ski there all time when I was a kid.
ahhh, the memories…of the really hot guy I met that went to West Point ![]()
wonder what he’s doing now…
sorry. reminiscing.

Jay is the best, except it’s windy and cold. Stowe is pretty good too.
Have you ever been to the Quebec City area for skiing, there are some pretty good places there as well.
I miss Whistler/Blackcomb, and the cute, rich and spoiled guys who hung out there.

Jay and Stowe were week vacations. Gore was my favorite for weekends.
I learned to hate skiing.
Never skied in Quebec but been there. Really pretty and quaint. Toronto too for a bluejay game and the zoo ![]()

I have no focus right now, I’ve been trying to write a note here and there to people on the forum and I can’t hold a thought in my head. My stomach is super upset and to be blunt, I need a good crap.
This is all due to one factor: nicotine withdrawal.
Yep, I’m quitting. Honestly, never tried to quit before, but it’s time to grow up and I really can’t afford supplements and cigarettes too. I’ve been training my ass off for 1 year without a break, why the hell am I smoking while I’m doing this? The entire reasoning behind training is for better health, I’ve always been a 6 months on, 6 months off girl, training to look nice in the summer. I finally came to my senses and saw that that is just stupid. Now I see that smoking is just stupid too.
Have patience, I’m a slow learner.
I’ve cut down over the past 5 days to 6 smokes for today’s total. Tomorrow it’s 3. Today was the first day it really bugged me, I’m feeling very murderous at the moment. It was a day off from the gym and if I didn’t know better, I would have gone anyways. I’m finding it easier not to think about smokes on a day I train. So far I do not feel like eating in place of smoking.
I know I can do this, actually thought it was going to be easy HA, but whatever, I can do this.
Workout 14/01/08-at gym
Half squats 20x45, 15x55, 10x65
Full squats 12x65, 10x65, 8x70, 5x75 wanted to go higher, no spotter. One of the big guys who trains o-lifts asked me why I am training in the olympic area. He said if I get stuck in here, no one can hear me scream. Then he disappeared when I needed a spot )-:
Dead Lifts 15x60, 12x65, 10x70 my grip still sucks
Hyperextension with row 10 lb dumbbells 10x3
1 leg jumps 3x12
30 minutes random hills on elliptical
GOAL UPDATE: I can do 2 full chin-ups, good ones, but they hurt my elbow a lot. This might be a dangerous goal to try and meet over the next few weeks. Next week I squat 100lbs, if I have to drag someone over to spot me and it’s only 1 rep.
Tomorrow I get to bench. I’m going to take all this rage to the gym and beat the shit out of my bench. I did 5x70 last week. I bet I can do at least 1x90.
My gym is open 24 hours. If I don’t feel better soon, I might just go tonight. God knows what kind of freaks train in the middle of the night in that neighbourhood. Might be just the company I need right now.
db
I hope you feel better. That is awesome that you are quitting smoking. I am proud of you:) Have fun beating the shit out of your bench;)
Claire
Thanks Claire, that means a lot. Mark smokes, so I haven’t gotten any encouragement from him. No discouragement either, he’s pretty neutral on the subject.
I had one smoke today, half earlier afternoon and half later afternoon. It was easier today. I’ll post my training later.
db
Great job on the quitting! If I understand right it does get easier – just don’t know when.
If it helps to go to the gym, then maybe you need to set your training up so that you are there every day? Maybe just do some cardio or flexibility training… IF it will help with the smoking, then you might ought to consider it.
Malinda
Thanks Malinda, I hope it gets easier!
My theory about being at the gym didn’t really work yesterday. When I got there, I felt like being at home, when I got home, I felt like being somewhere else. It’s hard to explain, like I’m really not able to focus on much at all.
Workout 16/01/08-at gym
Incline Bench 15x45, 8x60, 6x60, 8x55
Bench 12x55, 8x65, 7x70, 5x75 (plus 5lbs/last week)
My left shoulder is really weak, it just gives out on me. What can I do to make it stronger on that side?
Curl Grip Pull-Ups Assisted 10x80, 10x80, 10x70
Narrow Pull Down 20x50, 15x50, 10x60
BB Curl 15x30, 12x35, 10x35
BB Scott Curl 12x25, 10x25 pressing against the the incline bench thing or whatever you call it hurts my boobs. Maybe I’m not doing this right.
That’s it no running, no abs, I just wasn’t into it at all. Today is OL day, and I hope I feel more enthusiastic by this afternoon. I have nicotine gum that I haven’t used yet because the concept of that is just gross, but I might try some today. My stomach is still pretty unsettled. They say to drink a lot of water to help with cravings LOL I already drink about 3 liters a day, any more I’ll just float off!

Well that’s a damn PR!!!
Congrats ![]()
never smoked much, but I do have to have one after dirtbike riding, drinking, playing pool, playing darts, playing poker, and sex. Lucky for me I don’t have time for that much fun ![]()
good luck!!

Thanks c.!!! I didn’t even think about the after sex smoke, guess I haven’t had much time for fun lately either!
Yesterday I made it through the day with 5, 2 more than planned but 1 less than the day before. Today, so far at 3:50 p.m., I’ve had NONE. But the evening hours are worse for some reason.
I think I’m doing OK, last Friday was my first cut down day. I smoked 15 last Friday.

Are you eating sugar free mints or chewing gum? I have never smoked but sister quit about a year ago. She mentioned the mints and gum when wanting to have a cigarette. You can do it. Just keep cutting back until you are ready to quit completely.
Claire
I’ve got Lifesavers and white tea with splenda helps. Today has been really good, I had 2 smokes earlier this evening but I’m not craving them now.
Claire, I know your meet is coming up fast and I haven’t mentioned it on your log, but GOOD LUCK (even though it’s not luck, you know what I mean!) Will we have your results on Saturday night or maybe Sunday morning? Did you get the water weight off?
Really appreciate the support!

Hey diana good luck on that smoking. I never smoked but my husband did and I know it is tough to quit.
Diana
Hey Diana, thanks for that! It’s tough but I’m getting there.
Workout 17/01/08-OL
Synchro Snatch Warm-up with bar, 10x35, 10x40, x10x45 (plus 2.5 from last week)
Alt. Split Snatch Warm-up with bar, 12x35, 12x60, 12x60
Once again, I had issues with this lift. I kept saying the weight is too heavy. Eric says, just pick it up and lift it over your head normally, that was no problem. So he got me to stop bringing the bar from my ankles to hip and just lift it fast over head. Seems I was losing momentum at the hip. So I did it from the floor about a million more times. And It worked ( - :
Floor jump and snatch 12x35, 12x40, 12x45 (plus 2.5 from last week)
Floor Jump & Clean 12x35, 12x55, 12x55 (plus 2.5 from last week)
Floor Jumps 3x10
I was pretty wiped after all those snatches, but I think I made progress today.
4 smokes, 1 less than yesterday.

Thanks Diana. The water weight is off. I was 164.5 after beakfast with pajama pants. So I should be all set for my weigh-in. I will monitor my weight today and skip my bedtime and breakfast shake if necessary. I will post the results on Sat but the videos might not be until Sun or Mon. They take forever to download and I think my hubby will be ticked if I am gone all day and them come home and spend all my time on the computer.
Claire
Got my lifting shoes today, finally! They are awesome and feel so stable compared to my athletic shoes.
I think I got the snatch right yesterday, today I am sore from my ankles to my butt.
Can any one help me with my weak left shoulder? It totally gives out on me when I am benching. I’m thinking some rotater exercises…I’m going to add push-ups back in as well. Any suggestions would be great.

I told a woman I met on vacation a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to learn Olympic lifting soon and she said “honey, you have a long way to go!” I clarified that I didn’t mean I was trying to go to the Olympics but I got the message–I don’t look very strong…yet.
Last August I was looking at joining a new gym after I moved. I filled out this little “what are your goals” sheet and waited to speak with a trainer and get a tour of the gym. She glanced over the paper I filled out and then proceeded to take me to the cardio room and talk about all the great programs they offer because “you look like you prefer cardio, I’m sure you don’t lift heavy.” Apparently the box that I checked that said “I want to add more strength and muscle” meant that I prefer cardio. I was so angry I told her that her gym wasn’t the place for me and walked out on her.[/quote]
Awww Sic, I work out at a gym in Maryland…you should come on over we encourage heavy lifting! (after your baby is born of course) ![]()
