I work with a number of competitive athletes. I would say well over 50% of the people I work with (and probably higher once I start at PPC Chicago) are competitors.

I personally work with football players, wrestlers, soccer players, powerlifters, bodybuilders and of course people who want to look good nekkid:-) Whether it is an athlete or a person just wanting to look good my primary goal is always to improve their health and then the rest seems to fall in place.

The body’s first priority will always be health so if this is in order then it will be able to allocate more of it’s resources to physique or performance goals. That being said remember 70% of your nutrition is used for detoxification!!

What I am saying is that no matter what type of client I am working with I aproach their goals the same: Achieve good health, fix digestion problems, achieve structural balance, get them stronger.

Meals for the day:

Meal 1 9oz Organic Beef 1 handful of pecans
Meal 2 9oz Buffalo Large Salad
Meal 3 9oz Beef Capacha (from Tenderloin) Mixed Veggies (celery, muschrooms, carrots)
Meal 4 9oz Tandori Chicken with spicy jalopeno pesto and side of guacomole
Meal 5 9oz Buffalo Large Salad
Meal 6 9oz Shrimp in Lemon, Olive oil and Garlic with large salad

It snowed today and the roads were SLICK so tomorow is the big day…Driving to Chicago and getting moved in:-)

Start work on Monday!!

you got the job you were telling me about working for Poliquin congrats bro!![/quote]

Thank You!

Would you prefer/recommend this method over the 2 Zinc tally bottles 1/day for 2 days taken throughout the day?

laroyal,

Thank you. I have followed the anabolic diet for many years and feel that absorbing fat is not a problem. Also, my energy levels are excellent. Although I have never had any BioSignature Modulation tests, from what I have read I may be aromatize a lot of testosterone. My arms and legs are extremely lean. My stubborn fat deposits are limited to my chest and love-handles. I will give your protocol and try and report back. Thanks!

Hi antony, firstly let me say, congratulations on your transfer to the poliquin centre in chi and secondly like alot on this site, truly inspired by your level of knowledge you possess and the successfulnes of your career.

One question regarding combatting a cold, is there any tricks you have for removing mucosa from the trachea and bronchi. I havent yet tried the rubbing alcohol in the nasal cavity because it feels like its mainly on my chest, and it sucks.

thanks

To me this would be a better method, even though it takes longer I would think it would keep Zinc in the tissue better. In my mind if you were to drink 2 bottles of tally it would be metabolized and out of your system within a week.

I would give the recommendation Charles gave us a try, for warding off bronchial afflictions NAC is a good supplement.

LaRoyal,

I’m a subscriber to Poliquin’s site, use a number of his supps, etc. Just wanted to say thanks, this is an awesome thread and very informative. I’m going to call them on Monday and get the topical mag. Do you have a partner ID? That way I can swing a commission your way. (I’m guessing the partners earn commissions)

Out of curiosity, has Charles or anybody associated with him considered doing an update to the 5 elements article? I’ve attempted my best (being a layman) to model my schedule around the prescriptions for the Wood element which I am in the extreme.

I also have the book “between heaven and earth” which gives a good overview of each of the elements. What poliquin said about a wood element going balls to the wall on the first 10 x 10 workout, muddling through the second and then on the third only managing 4 sets and saying “fuck it” - that described me to a “t” and I could never figure out how anybody got through six weeks of 10 x 10.

FWIW, I had an accupuncturist recommend the “free and easy wanderer” formula and it really seems to have helped my sleep and ability to relax.

Again, thanks for the thread.

Best,

Matt

Wow.

So I just found this post (not sure how I missed it?) Great job on the successes, and as you know I am extremely jealous about both the BSP 2 and PPC-Chicago!

I wish I could say I was having the rate of successes you were. Being the student I am, I can’t get too many clients. I am also trying to fix my adrenal fatigue… but it is difficult because I am not a low-carb type yet not lean enough to tolerate carbs! It’s frustrating… I fall somewhere in the middle. I will be trying the Gemmotherapy soon…

The T Protocol went really well while I was on it, but the T didn’t stay… however I did manage to gain 13 lbs on it.

How much does a BioSig run up at PPC?

Thank you for the book recommendations! Like you I really liked the elements article and would love to see a follow up. If I have the chance I will mention it. I don’t recieve any commission off the supplements (it would be cool though:-) If you need anything though you can order from the PPC Chicago directly though and they may be able to offer a slight discount. The products really are the best out there and I have been really happy with them.

Great to hear from you! I really love it up here (especially being a Bears fan). I know adrenals can be a pain to fix/ work around! Dietraily speaking you may want to try a carb rotationdiet (I have used that with people who fall into the category you do and had great success). That is awesome about packing on 13lbs! There are a couple of new T protocols that might be a big help to you as well.

Let me know if you want to shoot over here for a weekend and we can catch a workout, Have a great weekend and I will talk to you soon.

As always thanks for providing such a great wealth of knowledge to all of us. I wanted to ask you about the shrimp you are eating, do you buy fresh? Or do you buy the bagged variety? I realize the bagged has much more sodium. So which is it you buy and if it is fresh would you see a problem with the bagged version? Thanks in advance and keep up the work and success with the new situation.

Random note egarding the 5 elements:

I’ve noticed a BIG difference between how I (a classic wood element) and a friend (most likely an earth) respond to supps. Panax Ginseng, for instances, give me a boost for a few days but then I turned into one cranky sob. My accunpuncture instructor said this did not surprise her given that I was an obvious (to her) wood element and that panag ginseng was probaby the ast thing I should be using. I gave the rest of the bottle to my friend and he loved it.

FWIW, that 5-elements article when I first read it I though “pretty interesting” but didn’t do anything with the info. I revisited it about 2 months ago and it has really changed how I think about not only training but a lot of other things. It seems if you can figure out whih element you are, then you can get to quicky clearing up a lot of problems just by balancing out the negative tendencies of that element. Much better than the “wondering around in the desert” method that so many of us end up engaging in. (trying this, trying that, etc)

In my halcion days I was the “whore” element.Everything made me strong, lean and muscular. Now in my so called golden years,I am the “water” element, which I believe CP thinks is a waste of time.So the take home lesson here is “stay tuned”,because the adjustments never end.The decoding of the human genome should be very valuable in this regard…

I actually met with Scott a few weekends ago; had a few great discussions. I have been trying to get a lot of input because it seems like I’m one of those tough cases! (I am doing a lot better initially though)

I think the hardest part is the diet - so I might need to get your input on that. Do you know if Topical Mag is capable of fixing a deficiency faster than UberMag? I have been taking 6 caps of UberMag ever since the seminar and it still never seems to get better… but that is likely due to my condition.

I am not far from Chicago; would the workout be at PPC?? That would be amazing, because that was my back-up plan if I didn’t get into grad school. I am looking to get my L1 PICP later this year as well.

I would be happy to help you out with diet. If you are still deficient with the ubermag I would do the following:

  1. EPA/DHA 720 3-5 tid
  2. Fennuplex 2 tid
  3. Topical Mag 4 pumps at bedtime
  4. Ubermag 4 with last 2 meals
  5. Multi Intense (or actually ubernutrients would be better for you because as I recall you have the MTFHR gene)
Multi Intense 1 tid or Ubernutrients 2 Breakfast 2 Lunch

I would have to check with Mike and Debbie but I am pretty sure if you were to come up on the weekend and we were to train after my clients on Saturday and Sunday that would be fine. I will be going back to Ohio for Christmas but let me know what your schedule looks like and we will go from there.

I too follow genetic research closely and I am very intreseted in how things continue to unfold. The most recent thing I have been reading about is the expression of the SIRT 1 and how it can cause dyslipidemia.

It was about the same for me, the first time I read through it I thought it was cool but didn’t really look at how I could apply it but, after re-reading it and thinking things through I would say it has helped me when I hit a sticking point and I use many of the pricipals and logic to design clients workouts.

Where is this article on CP’s site?

I usually get the frozen shrimp and I marinate them in olive oil fresh garlic and lemon juice partially cook them in the skillet and finish them off on the grill (just enough to put char marks on them). I don’t worry too much about sodium in my diet. I eat so many vegtables and drink a lot of water with lime in it so this protects from the potential calcium loss of a high sodium diet.

I have actually been having reactions to fish oil (even quality ones) so I have stopped taking it. It was actually RAISING my blood sugar meaning that it was probably raising my cortisol. My blood sugar was going up after low-carb meals which is very strange.

That is an interesting protocol. Why include the Fenuplex?
I am planning on doing

  1. Gemmotherapy
  2. Multi-Intense 1 tid
  3. Yang R-ALA 3 bid
  4. Alpha GPC 1 bid
  5. Pantethine 1 bid

And then probably your magnesium protocol here. I think I have the low morning cortisol/DHEA situation. I don’t have the MTHFR gene though.
