Laroyal's Return to Powerlifting

Today was about as easy as it gets…delayed transformation as Louie calls it. This close to a meet we pretty much just go in keep a little blood flowing and maybe do some mobility/ form stuff. It is a difficult concept for me as I am what Charles would call a Fire/ Wood type. I really like to go pedal to the metal and it is tough to remember that sometimes you have to take a step back to take two forward.

My morning workout consisted of 4 sets of 8 on Hypers. Hanging upside down on the inversion table. Some foam rolling and band traction stuff.

Food today…

Meal 1 9oz Steakhouse Burger 1 handful of Cashews

Meal 2 9oz Turkey Seakhouse Burger Large Salad with Balsamic dressing

Meal 3 9oz Turkey Burger (with feta, pine nuts and spinach) large salad with balsamic

Meal 4 8oz Chipotle rub Buffalo burger with large salad and balsamic dressing

Meal 5 8oz Buffalo burger with chipotle rub and large salad

Meal 6 10 oz shrimp in EVOO with garlic and lemon and…you guessed it…large salad:-)

Your ‘Meal 1’ could’ve been better…a Large Salad would have perfected it :stuck_out_tongue:

Keep up the great work and great Log…very motiviating!

Food for the day:

Meal 1 (the Weider confusion principal 2 meats) 4oz ribeye 5oz filet 1 handful of walnuts 1 serving of primal greens…just for Rikz;-)

Meal 2 10oz Buffalo burger large salad

Meal 3 10oz Steakhouse Burger large salad

Meal 4 10oz Turkey Burger salad

Meal 5 9oz Steakhouse burger salad

Meal 6 9oz Bufflao burger large salad

For the salad I generally choose one type of greens add in 2-3 types of veggies (artichoke, cabbage, cucumber, celery) and balsamic glaze with some type of oil (usually either macademia nut oil or EVOO).

Nice log!

What is the recommended daily dosage of zinc/magnesium?

For Zn I go on the assumption that most people are Zn defficient and should load at 120mg/day for 8 weeks to start or simply drink 2 Zn testers from Poliquin 1/day split throughout the day. For Mg guage it by your digestion. If it is too slow add more if it is too fast do less.

Thank you! For those of you that don’t know zororelation has a great log under FA transplant! I would recommend checking it out. She was at my biosig L2 seminar and she is not only ubersmart but was a joy to talk to as well. I would ask her if I had questions on digestion! Thanks again for stopping by and keep up the great log:-)

After 8 weeks you can begin decreasing your dose by 15 mg every 5 days until you get down to 30mg/ day and keep it there.

Haha, nothing against SURGE Recovery…I have used it before. Personally I seem to do better without the carbs and if I were going to add them in I would use Waxy Maize startch in a 3:1 ratio to Whey Isolate or take 75g Waxy Maize and 12grams EAA’s followed 20min later by Whey Isolate, Glutamine and some type of carb (depending on leanness and personal tolerance) in a 3:1:3 ratio.

Edit: I just saw the new SURGE Workout Fuel I think you are talking about. I will have to read more about it. At first glance it looks good.

Hey laroyal,

What do your salads typically consist of?

Thanks

Typically, for a salad, I will use a base of either spring greens, field greens, or spinach. I add in vegtables (cucumbers, orange and yellow carrots, red peppers, avacodo, cabbage, cucumber and celery (by the way celery is supposed to increase you output of pheromes so if you are looking for some weekend fun…or a big nite…crunch up:-) and I use a balsamic glaze (my personal favorites are either Roland or Colavita) and some type of oil (this ranges from macademia nut oil to EVOO and every once in a while Poliquin’s liquid Opti EFA oil).

So…I promised some big news right…well here goes…I will be joining the staff at the Poliquin Performance Center in Chicago! I am so excited! The staff there is amazing and it will really be a privellage to work alongside them.

Mike and Debbie (the owners) are such great people and I will do my best to add to an already great thing they have going out there. If you guys or gals are going to be in the Chicago (Northbrook) area by all means look me up!

Today’s food…

Meal 1 8oz Buffalo handful macademias
Meal 2 8 oz Beef and a large salad
Meal 3 8oz Buffalo large salad
Meal 4 8oz Beef and a large salad
Meal 5 8oz Strip Steak and a large salad
Meal 6 8oz Turkey spinach, feta, pine nuts large salad.

I did not work out today…DELAYED TRANSFORMATION (but, I will say it is driving me nuts).

Hope everyone is having a great week and I will write more soon!

Congratulations! That’s rediculous. Good for you. When will you be moving out there?

Who knows, you may be sent over to the center in RI to do a seminar and I can finally meet you in person.

Well done.

Anthony,

Congrats on the job at PICP Chicago…that is exactly where I wanted to end up after obtaining my certs in May. I’m down in Burr Ridge about 30 min south of Northbrook I-55 and I-294. I always wanted to take a trip up to check out the facility and now I have a tour guide…ha Good luck at the competition and knock’em dead.

Dang, I have 60mg zinc pills. Is there a company that you’d recommend for 15mg or 30mg zinc pills?

Again, thanks for your help and congrats on your new job!

PPC Chicago is just where you belong!

Will you let me know when you are there - I have your first client.

I will actually be moving this weekend, they want me to start on Monday. The only bad thing is it looks like I will have to pick another meet to do:( Westside will be putting on one in March/ April. so I will likely do that…if schedule permits.
