PARIS (AP) – Follow-up tests on backup urine samples by Tour de France champion Floyd Landis found traces of synthetic testosterone, the French sports newspaper L’Equipe reported Monday.

The tests on seven ‘‘B’’ samples clearly showed traces of the banned substance, the paper said on its Web site. Landis had insisted the follow-up tests weren’t necessary because the primary ‘‘A’’ samples tested negative for banned substances during the Tour." Reported by the New York Times today.

I think it’s the hypocrisy behind steroids and other performance enhancers that makes a lot of sports into farces.

People want to see supermen performing astonishing acts of human prowess. Then they criticize the methods required to attain those levels of performance.

Take all the cash wasted in running those tests, who aren’t accurate and can be defeated and put it instead in making the various supplements and drugs safer for human use. You’ll get better athletes who don’t have to take a bunch of masking shit in addition to their performance enhancers.

the tour is the way it always has been.

the farce is usada who sold out it’s own country by continuing to test samples that were already cleared and denied the presence of a landis representative to observe these re-tests, which were not legal in the first place. this is why the results are were “leaked” to the press.

further, usada has destroyed the evidence by allowing all of it to be consumed by their illegal re-tests to which a landis representative was denied observational access.

essentially we have a political entity looking to gain power and control over sport by colluding with wada and the french for credibility and continued existence. they’ve broken the law, sold out the country of their namesake, and thrown all of the values they claim to represent into the grinder with this quest to land a big fish.

usada = hypocrisy = dicks.

that’s not how it works. B samples are only accessible in the case of positive A samples.

the reason to have B samples is to corroborate the A, supposedly for protection of the athlete, so they don’t get railroaded by a single positive possibly a false positive.

usada doing this is such a joke. actually the real joke is that we’re paying them to do this and ruin our sports.

Sorry. I mean to say that the governing body overseeing this cycling spectacle is a farce. France, USA, all of them. Landis is screwed. And there’s nothing he can do. I think that’s wrong.

Positive B and Negative A points to a testing fuck up imo. They are essentially the same cup of piss for want of a better word. If the test/epitest ratio was off or traces of false test were notfound in A - Surely this farce cant result in a guilty for Flyod?

Whatever happens, the process needs to be looked at and altered accordingly imo.

yes that is the famous stage 17 sample, the one which they pre-empted floyd’s right to test the B sample by an independent lab rather than the same lab that tested the A sample.

the re-tested samples in this story are from other tour stages and had all tested negative “until now” .

in short they’ve gone fishing through samples that have already cleared to prop-up their case for the stage 17 sample.

To make it short:

Everyone that won the Tour the last 30 years or so was doped.

The same is true for the numbers 2-10.

If you have had cancer and get all kinds of drugs, good for you, that masks a lot if you do it right.

And, there is no Santa Claus.

the real story here is not that athletes dope and always will but that our sports are becoming controlled by government agencies and we’re not only allowing it to happen but we’re paying for it.

usada’s actions here are completely shameless but they are just following the lead of wada who would like us all to believe that the cost for cleaning up sport is to force athletes to live in a police state.

professional atheletes no longer live in a free society. in addition to normal doping control tests wada dictates athletes must fill out “whereabouts forms” detailing their locations 30 days in advance all year long to facilitate surprise testing.

to obtain an olympic license you sign away your right to defend a positive dope finding with the defence of “inadvertant” or “no-fault”. this means if an ada finds dope in an athlete’s urine that athlete is guilty -without even presenting a defense.

it sickens me that people will support this kind of end justifies the means facism and allow our sports to be controlled by corrupt, power seeking government entities.
