Yes, he was in court cases over the last two years. He had legal expenses in the tune of $500k and had a charity fund set up for people to donate. Now that things are bleak and the Tour of California, which dinied him entry, is in full swing this week, he break the “news” to attention whore as much as he can.

It’s sad but many, many people will be shocked by this, just like many, many people were shocked by similar stories with Bonds, A-Rod, Merriman, etc. Elite athletes use PEDs and always will. Should the clean ones be forced to make a decision to use that may compromise their own morals? No, but med-students shouldn’t have to choose between adequate sleep and passing their classes, but they do. It’s the nature of the beast. If everyone pulls their heads out of their asses long enough to figure this out, maybe we can reach a point where educated use of PEDs by adults will no longer be vilified. I won’t hold my breath, though.[/quote]

LOL in adequate sleep isn’t againt med school rules. If you wanted to make a better analogy you can say paying the teacher for a grade.

PED’s are direct violation of cycling and most sports regulations.

His point was to question whether this OUGHT to be against the rules or not. It seems pretty arbitrary that high-level, competitive sport, which is pretty unhealthy in the first place, would try to “save” athletes from themselves.

And no, paying the teacher isn’t a better analogy. A better analogy would be questioning whether a sports governing body can put limits on the amount of training an individual can do during an offseason. The NFL already limits team-organized Offseason Training Activities, but what about working out on your own? Should a family man have to sacrifice time with his kids so that he can train, in order to keep up with his younger teammates, who don’t have the same family demands on his time?

I’ve always thought that, if they were going to stop people from using hormones, they should just go ahead and regulate the levels in the athletes. Shouldn’t they just test everyone and medically manipulate levels so everyone has the same amount of test in their bodies?

Next, they need to regulate limb lengths.

We don’t pay to go watch pure competition of today’s professional sports, we go to see amazing shit happen. We pay big money & put huge amounts of pressure on today’s athletes to perform at a level that none of them can w/out PED’s.

We support what happens on t.v. but point the finger at them when we find out what they’re doing behind the scenes to make that shit happen on the court. We’re all hypocrites and need to legalize drug use in pro sports b/c of it. We demand more than they can give, but get upset when they try to please us.

Let them use drugs, let them perform amazing shit in front of us like harder hits in football, longer homeruns in baseball, better dunks in the NBA, and harder hits in hockey. I want to see LeBron doing a 720 dunk and David Ortiz hit the ball 600 feet every time. I love sports for pure competition, but unfortunately the rest of the world doesn’t and that’s why we demand the use of PED’s for pro athletes.

Fuck you if you argue against this b/c deep down inside, you know you want to see that amazing shit & that’s why you really watch, not to see if the Red Sox or Lakers or Packers are going to win or lose a regular season game.
