If you think Shelby’s comment was great, some girl friend of his posted:

“Do people ever work out their face muscles to match their bodies? Because if you were wearing a suit, no one would know about all those well-defined muscles underneath. Just curious…”

??

If you’re wearing a suit and people can’t tell you are extremely muscular and relatively lean than you aren’t big enough.

It seems like her comment was more about the leanness aspect of it, but even then, if that picture were taken with his head not tilted away from the light I bet you’d see some seriously sunken in cheeks. I mean, the best conditioned pros have forehead definition and ridiculous shit like that, so clearly there are signs that people are extremely lean even fully clothed. A long way of saying I agree =p

Shoot, you can see it in his progress pics…the longer he diets, the sadder he looks.

Matt’s upper body is getting pretty close to ready but his lower body (especially glutes and hams) still has a ways to go.

He’ll be ready though, no worries.

I seriously doubt if she saw him in a suit she would think he looked like a sedentary person, she is just cRaZY!

Really tho, I just wanted to add another quote. I think this is the longest chain I have been quoted in. I’m trying to remember it forever!

I think part of it is just knowing what that looks like too. I remember when I first got into lifting I saw a video with milos sarcev in it, with a pretty loose shirt. I thought he was just a kind of overweight guy because I just saw a “big guy”, then he lifted his shirt revealing very defined abs and I remember thinking “WTF?”, didn’t expect a really muscular/ripped physique at all. I would guess that’s how a lot of people not into bodybuilding see it at well

You really know what your going !

Nice job on Kroc he is looking damn good.

Some people are chest/shoulder benchers, some are tri benchers. Look at his physique- its obvious Kroc is a chest/shoulder bencher. Look at Tate- he is a classic tri bencher physique.
Tate isn’t a great example as he ripped both pecs off I believe and had to adapt his style.

Woops, good catch. I’ll edit.

With this stuff about powerlifting v/s bodybuilding, direct arm work -heres another case for direct bicep workout from a powerlifter:

Wow:
After years of discounting the practice, I’m about to do something I didn’t think I’d ever do. I’m going to do a public about-face and not only endorse but encourage direct biceps work as an integral component of your training, irrespective of your goal. And no, I haven’t been hanging around the Jersey Shore.

But first, a preambleÃ?¦ I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve called John Berardi a brother, mentor, best friend, and business partner for the last ten years. I work in a market segment that’s growing in number and girth, and I’ve grown up and now practice during a period of robust exercise study, theory, and application.

We dismissed the biceps curl. We f%$*ed up. And my fortune ended.

It was September 25, 2009, and my biceps tendon ruptured. Was it an unexpected, high force movement? No. Was the muscle or joint cold? No. Was I on steroids or taking a flouroquinolone-based antibiotic? No. Was it a supramax load? No. Was I cheating form? No.
Gee, now that people are finally figuring out what we’ve been saying for a decade, I wonder how long before people actually start listening?

That “don’t train biceps directly” bullshit must have fucked up the progress of too many lifters to count.

Yet they still act like the people with some muscle on them are clueless.
