Kostya Tszyu... I'm Speechless

I guess he’s retired from boxing now.

Kostya will most likely retire…a well deserved retirement for a guy who was the undisputed king of the best division in boxing for a long time. a definite hall of fame career.

in his newsletters, he has hinted that he wants to enjoy his life outside of boxing, and will make an announcement in the near future.

being a huge fan…i wish for 1-2 more fights. a rematch with hatton…with a ref that doesn’t allow WWE wrestling and illegal tactics like shouldering, holding and hitting, elbows and continuous clinches. and then a match-up with mayweather…which he would be an underdog in, but Tszyu has simply destroyed slick southpaws his whole career…a good fight for boxing fans.

no comment on the dancing with stars…he did take tunner up though.

Yeah, I wanted to see the same matchups. Especially the Mayweather one. I hope that if Kostya decides to do even one more match, it’ll be against Mayweather, to put an exclamation mark (if he hasn’t already) on his career.

Rumour is that after being on the dancing show, he’s been reinvigorated and is thinking about getting back into the ring.

But rumours are rumours eh.

Just one last fight against either of the fighters mentioned would be great, he’s a gentleman in person as well.

Mundine could certainly learn a few things from Kostya. Things like how to earn the respect of your nation, how to be a decent role model and just generally how not to be a wanker.

I hope he retires. I want to remember him as a great fighter who got out before looking like a has been.

Somehow, I don’t think Mundine has a hope of ever learning that. Good fight plan, yes, so he whooped Green, but god I wish he’d been humbled in that fight.

Have you guys seen the ads Kosta is doing now? Life insurance, wtf?!

Oh, how the mighty have fallen…

That Tszyu v Hatton fight was brilliant though. A real war with a lot of heart on both sides.

In recent times second only to the Joe Calzaghe v Lacy fight, which to my mind was an absolute masterclass in boxing handed out by the Welsh underdog who everyone thought was gonna get pummelled by the ‘new Tyson’.

THAT was probably the best fight I have seen Benn v Eubank 1 & 2 in the mid-90s. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

After the fight, despite Hatton fighting dirty, Kostya said “you were the better man tonight” and gave Hatton his phone number for advice and friendship. I don’t think there’s a more classy athlete than Kostya Tszyu.

I didn’t really think of it as being a dirty fight, just a war with two boxers fighting the way they know best. Maybe I was just caught up in the emotion of it.

Kostya was extremely graceful in defeat though. A classy guy, no doubt.

I hope he doesn’t end up endorsing low-fat grills.
