Klitschko vs Fury

lame, not as good as the golden era, furys gonna get ko’d, furys a dick blah, whatever people wanna say, its as an exciting fighting. no? well its hw championship boxing! and…its this weekend! and its worth a watch. so, to quote shannon briggs LETS GO CHAMP! LETS GO CHAMP.

heres the head to head. if nothing else, skip to wlads face at 8:22. dude looks likes hes ready to go.

WLAD KO WIN INSIDE 6.

I would love to say vlad by KO in round 1 because that’s how much I feel the difference is in ability. However, due to Vlad’s cautious style, it’s more likely a late KO or dominant decision. Interesting to see Fury when he’s not being such a clown. I dislike him less than I did before watching the video.

I truly wish Fury had a shot - he’s a clown, but he’s an entertaining clown and that’s good for boxing - but I don’t think he does. I’ve never been impressed with his fighting ability, and aside from his size, he has no particular skill or asset that makes me think he’ll stand up to that hammering jab or boring-ass, frustrating hit-and-hold style any better than anyone else.

To be honest, the guys that give Klit trouble are smaller guys who can get under his punches and land big counter-hooks. Fury is the antithesis of that, so I’m not sure how he thinks he’ll win. He’s certainly not going to out-jab or outbox him.

So who knows … not me. And I don’t plan on finding out, cause I’d rather catch my hand in a car door than sit through 36 minutes of a Klitschko fight. He’s astoundingly boring.

Well… this is awkward…

I cant believe it. i gave fury 0% chance and it was a dreadful fight.

im both furious and amazed lol.

i already want him to get knocked out. wlad looked like crap.

kinda felt it was a 7-5 maybe 6-6 fight.

im gutted for wlad. but is this a good thing? i guess so…

still fancy vitali could come back and just walk through fury inside 6 rounds

some very strange comments in this thread

not surprised to see the resident boxing expert fighting irish embarrass himself as usual though

well done tyson fury

Fury won?? weird. Thats not the result i expected after watching a couple of Fury’s fights.

Well, I guess I called that wrong. I still don’t think Fury is a better fighter, but he had a good game plan and made Vlad look old and hesitant in there. Lots of head movement, lots of feints and seemed to be in good shape to go 12 rounds.

Still, it was an absolutely awful fight. The 12th was the only decent round. Both guys landing 5-6 punches or less in most of the rounds. Two big guys with good power (and glass jaws) and neither was ever particularly close to a knockdown.

Not sure if Vlad would would do better in a rematch or not. He just couldn’t pull the trigger in there.

If nothing else, it is a nice change of pace to see a new face at the top of the division. Even if the division as a whole sucks. Possibly the worst heavyweight division in history.

Maybe Briggs will stop following Klitschko around now.

Not sure who you are, but eat a dick jerkoff.

Haters gonna hate. I feel like you missed an opportunity to use a Nicki Minaj quote here, Irish.

The fight itself was relatively uneventful overshadowed and perhaps embellished by the decision.
Fury showed mobility and remained active throughout.
Wladimir simply failed to pull the trigger, even when Fury tired down the stretch.

I have a myriad of opinions and case-points but I hear there is a rematch to be scheduled.

If Klitschko wins the rematch I call bullshit on the entire affair.

did it not seem as though fury was scored rounds simply because he wasn’t knocked out?

wlad landed 52 punchs in total. 4 per round. fury 7 per round.

ironic it was wlad for once that was clueless on how to get inside against an opponent keeping him at range.

I really fancy povetkin to ko any of the current belt holders.

I’m sort of in the same place as you. I didn’t watch the fight - once more, you couldn’t pay me to sit through a Klitschko fight, and from what I’m hearing that was a good decision.

I’m glad Fury won, but let’s not pretend it was an ass-whooping, or that Fury is a special talent. I think it’s more the combination of Wlad’s exceeding age and his lack of sheer size advantage over Fury - that’s how he won most of his fights.

I also think the fact that Wlad has fought so conservatively for all these years and gotten away with it hurt him - it’s been so long since he had to pull the trigger I think he forgot how.

Either way, I’m cool with Fury winning. He’s a funny guy and adds some life to an otherwise stagnant, decaying division. I still won’t watch it though.

lol at let’s not pretend it was an ass whooping.

he won a unanimous decision away from home against a champion undefeated in 11 years who has had 20+ title defences.

he did this in his first title fight having never fought anyone of this size/experience/talent before.

and yet it doesnt impress mr boxing on tnation!

would only 5 knockdowns and a 3rd round stoppage be acceptable to you, mr boxing?

Please, God, if you’re up there, let us have another ‘I’m calling you out FightingIrish’ thread. I don’t know how you do it Irish, how you manage to make strangers on the internet so angry, but if there were some way to monetise it you could have a very bright and prosperous future.

I think, as Donny may have intimated, this may have been a fix. I struggle to understand otherwise how two men of that size, who seemingly legitimately don’t like each other, can spend 12 rounds in a ring together and be so utterly ineffective. There are amateurs up and down the country who would be embarrassed at putting in such an inept performance in front of a small crowd at a local show. I cannot see how an athlete of Wlad’s quality, even though he completely lacks the fighting spirit, could fail to land a single meaningful punch in all that time against someone as open and limited as Fury. It looked to me at plenty of points during the fight that Wlad was actively trying not to hurt Fury.

I’m not sure the size argument is as pervasive as many people seem to have been suggesting in the aftermath either. I have no doubt that a Dempsey, or even a Henry Cooper, would have beaten either of these boys up and down the ring and had them out of there in short order - I wouldn’t even bet against a guy like Kovalev being able to level the pair of them, for all the size disparity. Neither Fury or Wlad showed any kind of elite level skill or ring craft, nor any guile, nor indeed any warrior spirit. It is telling, to me at least, that a currently relatively limited fighter like Anthony Joshua, who I like and who has bags of potential if he can be brought on right and taught to jab effectively, could most likely level anyone in the heavyweight division - raw as he is.

you think the fight was a fix and that wlad was “actively trying not to hurt fury.”

this is a genuine question - is your opinion supposed to be taken seriously?

in all honesty read through this thread it is truly remarkable what is being said by some of you self styled boxing experts you are utterly, utterly clueless.

london

you also say jack dempsey or kovalev could beat wlad and fury??

i get that some of you boxing experts like to circle jerk and dont like “angry trolls” pointing out your idiocy

but i mean please at least try with this stuff lol

"Willard held the championship for more than four years. Today his reign is considered the 11th longest in the heavyweight division. He lost the title to Jack Dempsey in 1919 in one of the most severe beatings ever in a championship bout. Willard was knocked down for the first time in his career during the first round and another six times before the round was over; he suffered broken ribs, shattered jaw, broken nose, four missing teeth, partial hearing loss in one ear along with numerous cuts and contusions.[4] Jess fought for two more rounds before retiring on his stool because of the injuries he received in the first round, relinquishing the title.

At 6 ft 6 1/2 in (1.99 m) and 235 lb (107 kg), Willard was the tallest and the largest heavyweight champion in boxing history, until the 270 pounds (120 kg) Primo Carnera won the title on June 29, 1933"

Dempsey is believed to have entered the ring for this bout at 182lbs. So, since you ask if I believe Dempsey could beat Wlad, the answer is yes, that is why I wrote it. Rather than ad hominems and petulance, I’d submit the above as video evidence of the possibility. The video is of Dempsey recording one of the most brutal KOs in the history of boxing against a guy the same height and weight as Wlad, who was ‘one of the longest reigning heavyweight champions in history’. Kovalev walks around heavier than Dempsey did.

If you have any genuine analysis, rather than simply e-stamping your feet and throwing your toys around, I’m sure we’d all welcome it with open minds.

you don’t know what ad hominem means so should probably stop using the term.

i could write plenty but i know you will just try to find fault in it all rather than just admit you have said some outrageous nonsense - the fight was fixed / wlad was TRYING not to hurt fury (LOL!!) - and have been called out on it rather than have a pat on the back from one of the circle jerk boxing experts on this forum.

so il keep it short and simple.

weight divisions exist for a reason.

fury has an 85inch reach and you think a couple of 180lb boxers are just going to blow him away rather than have their heads jabbed off of their body and/or get brutally knocked out.

even more pertinently - kovalev is an active fighter so if you are correct why doesn’t he just move up and blow these guys away? he would make more money/fame/prestige if he did so why doesn’t he?

it won’t have even entered his head as it is so laughably moronic. can’t really believe this conversation is even happening myself to be honest.
