Knee Replacement Recovery

I found this site while researching Human Growth Hormone and testosterone. I’m like a lot of you, used my body through my early years, damaged it a bit, now I’m picking up the (new) pieces. Got a knee replacement, rotating platform type, and am taking my rehab serious.

Figured I needed to look at all aspects, and at 51 I knew that I wouldn’t respond like at 35, the last time I really focused on adding muscle mass. At that time I went from 175 w/14%bf to 212 w/8% ( I’m 6’6" ) , best condition I was ever in, but my knee kept getting worse and worse and my aerobic activity faded during my 40’s.

Lost two of my 3 sons to accidents, in '00 and '05 , depression was/is a factor. I think that has affected my brain function.

I’ve decided to get on with it though, and I want to do it to the best of my ability. I can afford the time and the $$, so now it’s a matter of deciding whats the most proactive regime I can follow for supporting my bodies needs. I decided to start with blood work:
Slightly Anemic
Hemoglobin 12.6 g/dL
Hematocrit 37 %
Rd Bld Cell 3.94
Total Cholsterol 152 (I’m on statins,@ half dose)
HDL 50
LDL 86
Tri-G 35
TSH 2.072 uIU/mL
GH .04 ng/mL
Testosteone 6.58 ng/mL
IGF-1 results to follow
Had an ultrasound to check prostate, slightly enlarged
Had a MRI/MRA to check brain , slight atrophy of rt.temporal lobe, otherwise no significant issue.

So , with the enlarged prostate I am cautious towards testosterone augmentation. The Doc was willing to prescribe HGH, but I had this work done in Thailand, I go there every 3 months on business.

I told him I would decide when I return in November. I’ll also do follow up bloodwork at that time. I’m not afraid of needles, but I’ve never done any injecting, and I wonder about the whole process. I’ve read quite a bit on HGH, it seems to have a lot of upside and the least downside of any of the direct supplements I’ve looked at.

So, in the meantime I pound my protein(whey/soy/macca/creatine) shake, eat my Omega-3’s, Co-Q10, greens, RedYeast, multi, and wonder if I’m missing something.

Appreciate finding this forum , it seems reasonable, positive, and progressive.
Thanks,
Jim
