Ok Luke Skywalker (A New Hope allusion, not a jab) hope may lie in you, but you need to start recruiting your brethren, mang. Maybe light a fire under their asses and the fire might spread. Good luck to ya, brutha

YUP!
pfft. Its like talking to my ass. They are at the stage where they refuse to listen. I dont really give a shit anymore. I figure in 10 years they will come to their senses. Then they will wonder why they wasted 10 years of their life.

Gracias Senor, I;ve recruited my brother already, just a few 23456789 men to go…
What bothers me the most is everyone is so sensitive now. I talked to an old school teacher who said its the generation of "stickers.’ Every kid gets a sticker on anything they do so they can feel good about themselves.
Life is hard and everyone, even the most blessed life, is faced with some hard times. How will these kids respond? You never know what you are made of until you get knocked down a few times. I relish failure, because it means I at least tried. The true measure of a man comes out at times like that.

I hate those emo kids man, so annoying.
I think its ok to care about your appearance and what you wear and how it looks on your body…thats cool…but one thing I realized…going to the gym to NOT “gain muscle” (in the context described in the first post) is just useless and a waste of gym dues.
I understand that not everyone wants to look like Mr Olympia, and thats cool. I know I dont. But I dont want to look like Tyler Durden either.

The real irony is that these fags idolise the appearance of this man, while they should be following his morale.(Tyler Durden the character, that is, not Brad Pitt)
That was the point of the movie, that people didn’t get. It was perfect on the bus when the other guy (man his name escapes me) looked at the underwear guy in the ad and said sarcastically “is that how a man is supposed to look” - and said it to Tyler, who DID look like that.

I disagree, since these underwear models look like they bathe in Oil of Olay and are soft and effeminent. At least Pitt had the cuts and bruises.
One reason that I like Robert Redford: he has had no plastic surgery done and has the appearance of a man who has worked outdoors without worrying about too much sun, getting facials, or having to carry his water bottle. Redfords current appearance tells a story of his manliness and outdoor lifestyle.
My son, age 19, was really into emo a few years back as was his buddies. He would write this pussy-ass poerty whining about relationships, etc. made me want to puck. All the guys looked up to this one kid: scrawny little wimp, 6’2" and maybe 130. The perfect Emo model. Yet this guy got all the girls. That was in high school.
Today, with exception of the scraxny one, all have entered into the military and have taken on completely different perspectives and look down on weakness. They have also achieved by means of withstanding mental and physical pressures, dress sharp, and have pride. Acheivements schools don’t like because they don’t appreciate competitiveness or male pride. Too aggressive.
The scrwany one has stayed behind because his mommy won’t let him join the military (she was once a sergeant herself in Army). All her boys are wear because of her.
Funny thing: My son recently came home and his wimp friend came by. The wimp told me I was an old man and that I should never walk around without a shirt. I had a dip station in the room and told him to do as many as he could. He could not do one and his arms were shaking tremendously. I walked over without warming up and strapped 30 pounds on and repped out, then dropped the wait and repped out again.

To me…this is the perfect physique…
Wasn’t he Mr Olympia?[/quote]
YES he was. I was referring to the CURRENT Mr. Olympia. Sorry I didnt make that clear.
I was raised on hard work, if I wanted something I had to work for it and earn it. When I look at how spoiled people are and ungreatful it makes me sick. I thank God each day for everything I’ve been blessed with.
The problem is however that people want things instantly and dont want to have to work for it. When I started lifting I was maybe 120 at most and I couldnt bench 100lbs. That was in grade ten, when I came back for an extra semester I left the strongest person in my grade.
Ronnie says it best “Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder but nobody wants to lift no heavy ass weights”
I dont know where im going with this so thats the end of this rant.
In short, picture goth kids crossed with the skinniest vegetarians, now put headphones on it and have it listening to a song about breaking up with it’s girlfriend, dressed in black wearing make up.

He quickly made an excuse and left.

Nice to see your son changing for the better.
One thing we are lacking in Canada and the States is mandatory military service. A major difference I see in Europe is that boys become men and mature quicker than us in the West. I know thats a big generalization but a year in the service seems to provide a major difference with the cousins I have in Europe.
When I was 18, I definitely could have used that kick in the ass wake up call.
As a teacher I envy the European and Asian systems. We fucking spoon feed our kids. I teach high school world and U.S. history and the kids expect the answers handed to them on platinum platters. Its pretty ridiculous. I have to inflate grades to satisfy administrators, and dumb things down so much and kids still complain about doing the smallest amount of work.
Im only 24, I remember in high school we had projects and research papers, and now its non-existent because, “oh its too hard.” No Child Left Behind really screws the kids over too.
Anyway…WHOLE different forum discussion I suppose. My bad. haha.
