Kettlebell DVD's?

Has anyone scene or have these DVD’s? I want to know if they are worth purchasing?

Just get Steve Cotter’s Encyclopedia of Kettlebell Lifting. Expensive, but you get your money’s worth. He just released a second set as well.

Better option → go to a KB’s workshop.

i have both of them very good well worth the cash mahler is a strong dude.

If you haven’t had any instruction on KB lifting I would reccomend going to a workshop for good instruction. You will learn a lot more in depth techniques than just the videos. Before I got certified as a KB instructor I took a workshop from Mike Mahler and received excellent instruction.

Before that I was training by Pavel’s video KB challenge. It had good instruction for some lifts but it is wway better to pay for that personal attention at a workshop. I’ve had some clients start training with me who have only followed the videos and most of them had terrible form. I was supprised that they hadn’t hurt themselves yet.

Just about any video you get from the RKC instructors are really good.

Personal instruction at a workshop/seminar is best. But if you can’t afford one (like me), then you might be able to get by with the DVD’s. Even after watching Pavel’s Russian Kettlebell Challenge, I couldn’t figure out how to snatch without the weight slamming into the back of my forearm. It became clear what I was doing wrong after watching Mike Mahler’s MMA DVD.

Depending on how much money you want to spend, I would purchase either Mike Mahler’s DVD’s or Steve Cotter’s Encyclopedia. Both are excellent.

Mahler’s is pretty good. I like the Renegade ones even better.

I wouldn’t pay for one of the certification courses, but if someone is holding a course for a good price, it may be worth checking out. However, kbells are really not that difficult, and you can learn them from DVD’s…and it will be a lot cheaper than paying $150 or more for a class.

I’ve worked with Cotter a couple of times, he’s a great guy, very good instructor, and a VERY strong martial artist. The Mahler DVD is good and has some great exercises, nothing bad to say about it, but… Cotter’s Encyclopedia of KB’s is about 7 hours of instruction. I have never seen anything else like it. Yes, it’s a hundred dollars, but you get your money’s worth and more.

I, too, have worked with Steve few times. You will not be disappointed with his products. Very genuine guy, passionate about what he does.

Nate, having spoken a few time with you a few time through e-mail, I have no doubt that if you went to the RKC you would have the time of your life.

Oh, I’m sure I’d have the time of my life at the RKC course! Just as I have at the Staley Boot Camp and the DC Test Fest.

I just don’t see the need in paying to be certified in kbells when you can learn the lifts from DVD’s and other instructors. They are only a tool to be used in your training. Not the only tool!

I understand your point and I’m not trying to push the “party” line on you. But I would gladly now pay the price again just for the experience, for me that’s what it was about.

And, actually for me they are the only tool and the moment. The training effect I get from them is directly in line with my goals, which are similar to yours. We are just taking two paths to the same destination.

Keep training hard.

Word!

There are many methods to get the same result!

These dvd’s are all geared towards different aspects. Decide what your goal is with the use of KB’s and get a DVD to help you.
Steve Cotters stuff is good.

Thanks for the praise on my DVD’s and workshops. You can see some clips from both of my DVD’s at my website: www.mikemahler.com/store

My DVD’s also come with a 100 plus page DVD user guide loaded with tons of programs for a variety of goals. Email me if you have any questions.
