How many 352lbs men do you know? And how many of these guys are just fat fucks?
By the way, Bob Sapp, who weighs about 350lbs all muscle, got his ass ROCKED by Cro-cop, who weighs about 220-230.
I’m not saying size doesnt matter. In the real world with average joes, size is a HUGE factor. It’s just not nearly as much a factor when it comes to elite fighters. (which obviously you and I, and most probably your local boxers and martial artists, ARENT)
Getting back to Royce. He certainly not indestructable, hell Sakuraba beat him like a red headed step child, I’m saying technique goes a long way.
By the way, who cares if Royce didnt continue after fighting Kimo? If I were Kimo I wouldnt brag. He admitted defeat in the heat of battle. Some thought it was a victory for Kimo because Royce looked worst at the end of the fight. But if Kimo didnt tap, him arm would have been shattered at the elbow. The fact that he tapped saved him from that fate.
Since when did size matter? My grandfather was only 5’5 140lbs soaking wet and beat the piss out of everyone who looked at him wrong in a split second. I know I witnessed it first hand on one occasion. He possessed speed and rage that I have never witnessed in another person. I guess it was “small man disease” I guess. I am much larger than him but his hands are 3x the size of mine. That alone will tell you the amount of combat he has been in. On a funny note one of my uncles had a party at a bar that my grandfather ran. We’ll my grandfather went downstairs and caught some guy urinating on the floor. We’ll this guy got punched, elbowed and taken down hard and my grandfather made him lick his piss up.
I really hate the size argument, a fight is something primal that lies within. Killer Instict and attitude WILL prevail, not size. Argue about this: Take a cannibal tribesman out of the jungle and put him against any style fighting champion. Who would win? I’ll bet on the tribesman cause he doesn’t know the meaning of civilized like most of us do.
Mirko is a freak! That man could batter anyone, he has serious power. And skill wise he is one of the best in the world whilst nobody could accuse Bob Sapp of that. BUT Mirko at 220lb is not half the size of Sapp. Bob would have to be 440lb of muscle!
As for Kimo no doubt the man lost and I hated his post match antics. But I was just pointing out that at the time BJJ ruled the world and I think very few people at the time could have beaten Royce simply because no-one knew enough about BJJ. So by mentioning that Royce couldn’t come out again I was just making the point that he obviously struggled to beat Kimo. Today MMA has moved on alot and there are a lot of fighters who could beat him no prob.
Nope I don’t even know any 350lb fat fucks! I won’t name drop but I have trained with some of the best Vale Tudo fighters on the British MMA scene and I’m sure they would all agree that if the skills levels are similar then the bigger more powerful opponent will win. Are you trying to tell me that Roy Jones could beat Lennox Lewis? (Well maybe!) But what about Oscar de la Hoya vs. Vitali Klitschko?
And do you think Jens Pulver could beat Bob Sapp?
You think that was funny, regarding your grandfather and the peeing incident. no way man, I still have that piss taste in my mouth! Hahahhahaha
Seriously, if you take two of those tribesman. One being 140lbs and the other being 180lbs and all other things being equal. The big tribesman wins. Get the point?
Nobody was arguing equal skills and size/ Obviously if everything else is equal and one guy is stronger and bigger he will win. We were discussing a skilled small guy versus a oafish big guy.
The guy that i fought had alot of fat on him, but he was in the middle of his football season so i guess its safe to say he was in really good “shape” if you can call it that.
but i gotta say on UFC/PRIDE i’ve seen alot of smaller guys (i.e. gracie & his size) take down bigger guys and they go down hard.
again…i’ve also seen big guys tear on smaller people. so i guess my conclusion is that its all about the fighter and thier background.
dont even start compairing different fighting styles…that would lead to a thread of chaos.
A Lion vs. a Grizzly?
Jeez you expect a serious answer to that!
You haven’t even told us whether we talking male or female. And is it an Alaskan coastal grizzly cause they could weigh up to 1200lb but if it was an interior mountain grizzly it would be max 700lb. Which would obviously make a big difference as would the time of year. I mean what if the grizzly has just come out of hibernation and slipped to 500lb?
How old is the lion?
I also share the opinion that most MA tend to train with too many restrictions. When it comes down to it on the street, it’s not about points, it’s about who’s stadning and who’s not. Not matter how big a man is, he can’t stand without legs. So like someone said earlier, hit the legs with kicks, and hit 'em hard, and try to take them out. If you are olny defending yourself, you have no worries of legal repercussions if you really mess someone’s knee up or something like that. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not some psycho who goes around trying to fight and see how bad I can hurt someone. Actually, I try to avoid fighting at all costs but if I try to avoid and someone keeps provoking me, they deserve what they get.
Any method of training, Karate, BJJ, Hapkido, etc. can only teach you the tools for defense. The style is not the deciding factor in a fight, but rather how the practitioner applies them and how intensely they’ll fight to win.
Freestyle Martial arts is the way too go, the combiation of stand-up techniques and floor work…
You cant go past Vale Tudo which translates from Portuguese to English as ANYTHING GOES.
I did freestyle martial art for several years Muay Thai/BJJ and Vale. I’m a COP and i have to deal with shit heads twice my size everyday punching and kicking them is useless, grappling is the only thing, bar my tools(pepper spray) which prevents me from getting my head smacked in.
I doubt that karate punches are more powerful than boxers. Boxers use there whole body weight through waist rotation to generate power and they dont push they snap watch someone whos good shadow boxing.

The Bear no contest! The Lion would need to get to the Bears neck (8ft tall) but even though the Lion is faster and more agile I don’t think that’s going to happen. The Bear is three times the size of the Lion and can kill a cow with one blow.
Steely
Even though the Tiger is bigger at 700lbs the Bear is just too big and strong for it at double the weight.
Well if you put full grown elephant in the ring with any kind of bear, tiger, lion etc. and there is any kind of problem the elephant will kick all their ass. He is the baddest fucker in the jungle.
