Just Had a Spinal Steroid Injection

A couple of months ago I hurt my back trying to jump up deadlift to 685 from my old PR of 645, and stupidly, after the first time didn’t lift, I tried a second. I did something to my spine and lower back started hurting a lot pretty soon after.

Went to the doctor, got X-rays, self administered physio for a few weeks (mandatory to doa. Course of physio but I told my Dr I know this isn’t muscular so physio won’t fix it), he agreed and said I can self administer just to tick the box. Then got an MRI and finally had a spinal steroid injection a couple of days ago. My back feels 90% better, and just a little sore now, so great result and should keep getting better

I’m hoping to get things all the way back to normal, but it feels great to feel powerful again and for my mobility to be back to where it was.

I think I’m done chasing PRs on compounds, I’m 40 and the risk just doesn’t make it worth it. Gonna stick to 6-8 rep range on mid weights and resist the urge to push too crazy

Injuries suck. Ive been there. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a lumbar disc issue that seemed to pop up every year as the weather got a little colder. It was suggested that I try PRP on the lumbar spine to strengthen the areas around the disc and help support the spinal load properly instead of the disc supporting it.
Received one PRP treatment about two years ago and haven’t had an issue since.
The steroid injection will alleviate the pain for a bit but prob won’t fix the problem.
Would highly recommend looking into PRP to see if it’s a fit for your issue.
I’ve also had it on my neck with great success.
Hope you are able to get it sorted.

Thanks for the tip, i’ll look into this if it resurfaces. It was a bulging disk impinging on the nerve so not 100% that the steroid shot will ‘fix’ it versus just alleviating the pain for a while, but we will see! I’ll take a look at PRP should it re-arise.

Or I could go straight to mexico and get some stem cells injected!

give a shot at this.

I too ‘injured’ my back, or so i thought doing some gym exercises. I’d avoid any/all steroid injections /surgeries. long story short…i never had anything done to it…and back to normal life.
listen to the book thank me later
