I sometimes think about doing a major bulk to see if I could get up to 245 or 250. I think I probably could without gaining a ton of fat, if I really ate well - but would still take me a couple years I think. And I definitely could not get there without my shoulders being healthy. Just wouldn’t be able to add enough mass to my arms, back and shoulders without more heavy pushing and pulling (or any pushing/pulling). Would be kind of fun. Never really tried a big bulk because I didn’t want to have to buy a ton of new clothes.
I’d be okay with that minor inconvenience ![]()

I’m very sore and lethargic today. Yesterday was similar. I forgot the toll squats and deads take on your body over the following days. I kind of like it because I think it means my body will be growing in some aspect. The flip side is that I have zero motivation to do anything. I’ll be going to the gym in a bit for upper body. My warm up will be painful but once I force myself to move I’ll feel better. Other than that outing I kind of just want to lay around.
@Frank_C I hope your get your strength and motivation back very soon. Take it easy!

Spent a couple of hours at the park with the kids, wife, and her sister’s family. Great day but I’m spent.
Training and family time, sounds quality.
Despite some motivation looked like you still got a good workout in! Hope the soreness and lack of motivation doesnt keep happening!
you got this man! I know you’ve had some annoying things happen but don’t let it affect your lifting motivation. go get them gainz
@littlelee and @duketheslaya my lifting motivation is rarely affected. I get bored on rest days. My motivational problems arise when I have to be an adult and do more than lift weights, eat, and sit on my rear watching TV. I can bust my tail in the gym but outside of that I find that I’m very lazy LOL
I knew I like you.

Woke at 230.0 lbs and I don’t even care. I think the goal was to be 225 by June 1st so I’m a bit ahead of schedule.

I’ve decided to cancel my remaining physical therapy sessions since I’m basically paying $50 for a left hip workout that I can do on my own. I’m heading to the chiropractor instead today (she only charges me $25) for some tissue work and hopefully some adjustments. My neck has been out of whack for awhile and I want her to make sure my pelvis and sacrum are in the right place. I think my money is much better spent there.
Lmao, as I get older I find I only have so much in the tank too. I could sit around my house, knit and watch netflix for days!! I love being lazy, but feel so guilty when I am. But, no-one was ever on their deathbed thinking “man, I wish I had spent more time cleaning my house, or mowing the lawn”. Lazy is ok in my books!
Nice to see you pushing the deads and squats again. You’ll be pushing big weights on those in no time and we cant’ wait to watch you do it!
Thanks! Tomorrow is day 1 of the new program. It’s 12 weeks long and hopefully I’m squatting 315 or more for sets of 3 (which will be better than I was doing before surgery) and deadlifting 365+. If I only increase my weights 10 lbs per week then I’ll be doing a single at 375 in the 12th week. I might bump my weights up a bit faster on deadlift since I was still pulling 450 before surgery (or at least I think I was capable).
You’re a beast big J ![]()
Went to the chiropractor today and had her work on my neck. She did dry needling on my traps and neck. My traps were so tense that she struggled to get the needles in (which means it hurt). My neck wasn’t quite as bad…
My neck feels great now!

I’m not feeling energetic today but I’m headed to the gym later for leg day. 3 x 8 on squats, deads, walking lunges, and RDL’s is in my near future. I’ll wake up for that but work is going to be slow.
Can you still blame daylight savings for being tired two weeks after the fact? I just haven’t been able to crawl out of bed since the change. It’s dark and cool and I’m just so cozy…
How does your neck feel today? Have you had the needles before?
I am still messed up from day light savings as well. Feel tired when I shouldn’t, and the extra light at the end of the day, when I am really tired” has screwed my schedule up too. Guess we have 6 months to adjust before we have to readjust again.
Shift work proberly makes it worse.
My deload is over with today. Headed to the gym in about an hour or so. It’s like getting to open presents at Christmas is what I feel like.
Oh awesome dry needing is my fave !!!
