Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

Haha good point…at least the training montages were good

I can say that this wasn’t a great idea now. Luckily, I only ran for five minutes. I have soreness in some new places today in my lower legs. I have horribly flat feet and I need some good shoes to put my arches and joints in the right places.

Fuckin Philadelphia sucks. They made a statue of a mediocre boxer who wasn’t even real, and it took them like 50 years to get a statue of Joe Frazier, arguably the greatest of all time.

I dunno - i’ve been reading more about minimalist shoes these days, especially for flat footed people - we have super weak parts of our shins and ankles as a result of having flat feet, and then we buy cushiony shoes that baby our feet and don’t let us strengthen the parts that need strengthening. Perhaps not running straight away, but walking around and building up ankle and shin strength is probably a great idea for us.

I say the same thing about running in Dan Gables.

Ridiculous shin splints and it was like slapping the ground into submission for miles at a time.

I would never do it again, but can also see Flappinits angle. Legs, feet, and drive from the toes has always been very strong.

It becomes a juice vs. squeeze thing.

Could’ve stopped writing there and I don’t think you’d get many arguments.

Rocky is such a hard guy to have a stance on. I mean on one hand he did end the cold war, but he followed that act up by beating on a dude with AIDS.

I view it as a joint thing. Without support, my feet collapse and my ankles follow. That brings my knees in and puts me in a slightly knock kneed position. That right there is enough for me to want to correct it, but the chain reaction continues upwards.

If I could get my feet to develop an arch and get things into the right places then I’d be all for it.

One brutal, gruelling rep at a time.

LOTS of conditioning/feeder workouts to get the blood flowing.

I was only a couple reps shy of failure on that third set. I don’t have the strength for 10 reps, let alone five sets of it.

3.19.21 - Running :man_running:

Planned to do four rounds of Fartlek runs with the first being the warm up. 20 sec run, 20 sec slow jog, run, slog, run, rest 1:40. I goofed when creating the workout so I did round one (last map) and then decided to just run (second map). I stopped twice to catch my breath because I suck. After I caught my breath in the house, I decided to go back out and do two rounds of the Fartlek runs (first map).

I should’ve hit the lap button when I stopped to walk to get better metrics, but here’s my pace. My HR averaged 151 and topped out at 174.

Had a pretty solid day. After running, I went to my chiropractor and had him work on my triceps tendons. My left one feels like steel cable and the right one isn’t far behind. I don’t really know how I managed to cause this, but here we are.

After that, pizza and bowling! We went bowling with my parents and had pizza beforehand - the Superdome (29" diameter). We bowled in October and I bowled New Year’s of 2020. I love bowling but rarely go. I managed to bowl a 207 and 209 and I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve ever bowled back to back 200 games.

Had more pizza for dinner and now I’m enjoying an incredibly cheap American beer in my recliner. Better enjoy it while I can…

Y’all are basically internet strangers so there’s no need to keep secrets… My wife and I are 36 and 37. We have a girl who will be 8 this month and a boy who will be 5 in June.

Why would I bring that up, you ask? Well, it appears we’re going to have our third kid in October or November. My wife will be 38 and I’ll be 37. We talked about it, kicked it around for a bit, and then wrote it off. A month later - surprise! Oh, boy…

I will love a third kid but to be honest, I’m still in shock about the whole thing.

Oh, yeah. We bought the Mrs a new-to-us Toyota 4Runner. She’s always loved them and her Jeep Compass isn’t going to accommodate two booster seats and an infant carrier. It cost 3.5 times more than my truck, but she deserves it.

Congrats to you both!! From the tiny bit I know about parenting, you may surprised how you view some things a little differently with your youngest.

Massive congrats! I bet your kids are well excited!

I made sure no surprises were possible after my 2nd!

But having had a newborn again recently, man I was totally underprepared, had forgotten how hard it actually was (I seemed to do all the night stuff haha), but totally worth it, you’ll love it, no matter how hard and how big the shock.
