Nope. I think I’m going to stick with what I’m doing. I really don’t want to do conditioning stuff any more than three days per week. I can do that with my current setup. I’m also kind of liking the BBB stuff for upper body…
The Advanced template calls for 3x5 @ 75% on the alternate lift, but I don’t really see why I couldn’t do 5 x 10. The template isn’t any more demanding than what I’m doing now.
ABS
Some, but not much. I was going to cramp on my third set of cable crunches so I stopped. Did two sets of aide crunches on the 45 degree back extension. No need to get carried away.
Hey J! Hope things are well. A very quick scroll through your log looks like they are.
I really like your new tattoo on your lower arm, it looks great.
Nice work on your back yard as well, being in the middle of a lot of landscaping right now myself, I can appreciate the effort.
A nice little 395x12 back in June? Looks like deadlifts are cruising along well these days.
I’m sure I skipped a number of milestones over the past few months but I hope all is well with work and family as well.
Just getting caught up and I know the lat discussion was sooooo 15 days ago, but samual just posted this video in his log and I’m eager to try them. They seem like they’d work great.
Thanks for dropping by! Im hoping to finish the spartan tattoo this Friday.
The back yard will be great this fall. It’s been too hot to enjoy the new fire pit area.
How’s your place coming along? I bet it’s nice to finally be in your new home.
And, yes, deadlifts are moving along nicely. I’m hoping to set a new PR Friday. Even if I don’t, this is the strongest I’ve ever been with those.
I love that setup for pull downs, but I don’t have one.
I hadn’t really thought much about it. I think this has been the best non-ADD training year of my life. I keep changing “programs” but my focus and the lifts I perform haven’t changed.
I can definitely post another one, though. I think three months is long enough so I’ll probably wait till mid-September to announce it.
I’ll get one set up now. I don’t promise to put the level of support into it that you did though.
I noticed very definitely the change in interaction after the Transformation challenge ends, even as gyms start to reopen for most people. The ADD challenge seems to help with that.
I like 5/3/1 Training Maximally, rest/pause, and this new Advanced template feels good.
I don’t like PR sets because they stress me out. I don’t really pay attention to the reps if I’m doing R/P; it’s all about hitting failure twice for growth.
The Advanced template seems like something I can tolerate because I only have to do 5x5 once every three weeks. It’s also nice to see the extra sets as optional.
I’ve been enjoying my training for most of the year. It’s actually hard to believe I’ve finally found something that I like that also gets results.

I had to keep moving on this one. I took off with early but had to be at a school to direct traffic for a side gig. The BBB sets felt like conditioning and blew up my “yoke” muscles again. Deadlifts in the morning.

525 x 0 Well, my back felt like rusty metal today. I really need to go see my chiropractor. I knew it was a bad day so I made a big jump from 455 to 510. I didn’t feel like I could afford to waste every with 485. I managed to lock out 510 but it was tough. Invigorated by the victory, I decided to try for 525 which is my real goal but nope. Didn’t budge.

Spent an hour on this. I experienced victory, greed, and defeat. Oh, well. I pushed myself to my limits and I’m walking away with a 5 lb PR on a sub par day and I’m uninjured. Part of me wishes I would’ve maxed back on August 3rd when 455 felt like 425.
