I used to do this with overhead presses but no longer do much Oh work so have to rethink it.

I usually do my lower body session today, but I’m skipping it with the hopes of feeling fresh on Friday for my next 500 lb deadlift attempt. If I hit 500 on the Rogue Echo 2.0 bar then that’ll basically match a PR. I pulled 500 lbs on an American Barbell Power Elite bar and hit 545 a week later on the Texas Deadlift bar. I’m basically splitting my records between the super flexible bar and everything else. I might have to pull 505 just to make sure it’s a non-deadlift bar PR.
505! Matching your PR is like kissing your sister.
Wait a minute does J have a sister and what does she look like??
Your approach to deadlifting is smart. Keep practicing safe lifting and you’ll get your PRs.
I agree - let’s all kiss his sister!
Good luck Friday, @Frank_C!
She is 6 foot even, also has a mohawk and has even more impressive calves than you do.
Sorry, folks - no sister.

MORNING ELLIPTICAL
20 min interval, 1.55 miles
My unit at work is supposed to be “flexible” which is why we have take-home cars. Well, they took those away when the C19 panic arrived. It seems that I misunderstood what flexibility means. I thought we had to be flexible to go to neighborhood events and meetings. My Captain seems to think it means he can change our shift times and days whenever he wants.
I received a text at 0710 telling me that I’m riding a beat and working 2nd shift (1100-2100). That means I have to go to 911 calls instead of doing my normal work. It also means that victims’ cases are getting ignored because if I don’t work them then no one will.
Luckily, one of my co-workers pointed out that he was already getting ready for work so they told us we could work 0900-1900.
The positive aspect of this meant that I had time to force myself to do some cardio before work.
I’m pretty willing to help out when needed and I’ve said yes every time, but fexibility is supposed to be give and take. It feels like it’s a one sided thing here. It’s unfortunate because they’re adding negativity to a job that I really enjoy. They might just encourage me to promote, after all.
Yeah, “flexible working” is almost always code for “do whatever we tell you and shut up”
It’s great for building morale. Negative attitudes and destructive lifestyles have never been a problem in law enforcement…
The real kick in the junk is that we keep hearing how we’re outperforming the three other teams in town and we’re catching a lot of positive attention from “up top”. So what do we get? Micromanaged. Awesome.
It is supposed to go both ways. No idea if your captain is a good captain, but it sounds like he is not a very good manager. And maybe you cannot separate those things.
It seems like he tells us to do something just for the sake of doing something. I think he wants to be able to tell his boss that he’s addressing X problem by doing Y. It doesn’t matter if it’s a good idea and it doesn’t even seem well thought out.
Example: yesterday we were told to come up with an Ops Plan to address a certain trend. We have an entire 16 officer unit that was created to focus on that exact type of crime and its offenders. They’re subject matter experts on the people involved and know every detail about them. Perhaps they might have an idea?
The reality is that he heard that another Bureau was doing something so he thought he’d better order us to do something, too. Heaven forbid another Captain show him up.
I can lend you one if mine but I’m not kissing her.

I used a different method to get the weights up on Monday and I think it hindered my performance. That method was to set the DBs on my legs and pull my knee toward me as I lifted to get the weights to my shoulders. My home method is to swing the weights back to get momentum and then swing them forward and almost try to do a clean pull with my upper body to get the coming up. If I do it right then I can almost go straight into the rep with no pause. It’s an art.

Time: 35 minutes. This was at home during my “lunch break” and I felt rushed. I’ll probably load up on bread-like carbs tonight in hopes of a big pull tomorrow morning.
Ate half a loaf of banana bread tonight. Hoping to fuel a good session tomorrow!
What greedy wanker ate the other half before you had a chance ?
Working on the rest of it now (breakfast).
I woke up at 230.0 lbs so I’m loaded with fuel.
Go smash that DL J, I’m rooting for you.
I’m making big rib eyes drinking G&T’s and an awesome redwine just to celebrate
