That was smooth as anything man. Linkin Park is obviously PR music.
I kind of got frustrated with her because I told her to stay out of the way. I try not to put her on the internet, but it’s probably a lost cause with Facebook.
They always look smoother than than feel.
Yup totally understandable, think I’ve managed to mostly avoid that but then I don’t go on Facebook so no idea if the wife’s put many on there, private profile though so hopefully all’s good, tricky world with kids these days, mine are starting to want to go on TikTok with their friends (who all had their own phones from about 7 years old! All seems way to young to me!).
I’m fortunate in having my gym in the garage which is separate to the house, got a treadmill and concept2 indoors though and know the frustration of trying to be a good dad but also being distracted from training by little ones!
It’s a good distraction to have. My rule is that they can’t come into the room unless they have shoes. I’ll let my daughter (she’s 7) work out but my son (almost 4) isn’t ready.
Last week, I got a piece of metal stuck in my palm while doing a PT exercise in a push up position. It seems my adjustable DBs drop metal shavings.
My wife competed in the heptathlon for a D-1 school. I was supposed to pitch at the same school but quit after two years of shoulder problems. I graduated and became a walk-on for basketball at a D-2 school. We both have degrees in Exercise Science and I’m still a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
We could train some phenomenal athletes but I’m hoping they’ll come to us instead of us imposing our will on them. We let them see us train and join in where they can. Hopefully they’ll want us to help them someday. I’m pretty confident we’ll know more than their coaches.
Fuck yes! Nice, man!
Congrats!
That’s great, exactly the same for me in terms of sports pursuits, my daughter (the 10 year old) is very competitive and into swimming and running, she occasionally asks to join me in the gym and wants to do about 1 set of everything possible then the novelty wears off, my son 7 asks a bit more often and I would end up with him out a bit more if I asked him instead of waiting for him to ask, but he’s hard to manage in a small place with lots of hazards bless him (my gyms a mess mostly - I don’t have anyone else using it so when I’m dying at the end nothing gets put away!). He’s able to knock out a couple of full reps on chin ups though so that’s good start.
Not enforcing your will is a funny thing as a parent, because in reality you have to in a myriad of different ways everyday. I think the important thing is to let them be their own person, which is what I think you were saying anyway; particularly in terms of hobbies and interests - that’s good for them to choose what they really enjoy. They’ll probably naturally gravitate towards things you and your wife like anyway and they usually learn best by osmosis anyway!
That PR looked way too easy mate. Great job.
Awesome PR dude - you had another in you. Smart that you didn’t go for it, but the film doesn’t lie. You also looked jacked, so there’s that.
Congrats on the PR! Yeah, looks like you could have still gotten another 1, and grinded out a 5th rep
I agree with you and @whang. I think I had five in me but why? It’s training. I felt number three all the way to the back of my skull.
Oh definitely - I didn’t mean you should have gone for five, and better that you didn’t. That was a sweet lift because of how easy you made it look.
You definitely crushed that deadlift set!
I think you have the right idea with the kids, there’s no better way to turn a kid off of sports than forcing them to participate. I made the opposite mistake, my daughter wanted to do baseball or softball when she was younger but didn’t get to because of some fucked-up shit with my ex-wife, which is really my fault for putting my kids in that situation, but she’s come back around and wants to do sports stuff again in her 20’s. It’s sort of crazy training with her, because not that long ago she was sitting on my back while I did pushups!
I know what you meant. I think you and I are very close in our mindsets and experience. Push beyond the mind’s expectations, but be in tune with the body. It’s a tricky game but I’ve been doing good lately. [Knock on wood]
Yep, never a bad idea to leave one or two in the tank!
Congrats on the PR! Hell yeah on 500!
Excellent rep PR! And like flap said, you’re looking jacked! The covid-hawk completes the look.
What do I keep saying about the beer?
That triple was damn impressive. They all looked perfect. If it wasn’t clearly the case before (and it probably was), it is clear now: that’s more than I ever lifted for reps.
Congrats! Looking forward to 500.
I thought you’d like my nutrition plan.
It’s a great theory we’re working on here… beer and deadlift PR’s flow together. Maybe banana bread also, we’ll have to await more clinical trials…
Great job on the triple, dude.
